How about a little sense brought to the @StarWars alteration controversy? http://www.bigshinyrobot.com/reviews/archives/32052

best thing lucas could do is to tell he fooled us all and get out the original unaltered versions on BD on the first day of sale. then he'd be a hero.

Yes, the dvds too. They obviously look better than my laserdiscs (I don't think my player is one of the better ones). I just love the "collectable" nature of those LDs. Years from now, even though I won't be able to watch them (after my LD player finally gives out), I will always cherish them and display them proudly.

p.s. what really kills me about this is that I've always been a SE supporter. Though I have copies of the originals, I still liked the SE's for their improved PQ/Effects/etc. Never before have I been pushed to firmly join the OOT camp.

So because some of us don't blindly follow everything that's thrown to us (like George's "table scraps," to quote Triumpth), that means we don't "love" Star Wars? In fact, I'd argue the opposite.

To quote another Harrison Ford character, "I loved her too much to watch her die."

This had better not happen.
Doesn't matter - The 720p and 1080p Blu-ray rips just hit the internet. People would still have access

Heres whats been discovered over the last 24 hours for those that may have missed it.

So we've got Ewoks blinking

Vaders Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Bens Krayt Dragon Call

Jabbas Door

And the new R2 scene.

BEFORE

AFTER

Skip to 3:28 to see the original scene

For easy refrence to the original for anyone whos intrested. Skip to 1:25

The new audio does sound really odd Maybe it only sounds good in DTS-HD MA 6.1 surround sound?

Even when I think Nolan is overrated, wouldn't he actually have to say he might want to direct them? What about other capable directors like Spielberg and Whedon?

That was very funny and yet, a really honest answer from Kevin Smith... love his movies BTW!

From one Director, talking about another movie Director, that's exactly how I see, George Lucas overseeing these "Corrections" and "Alterations,"...

IT'S MY MOVIE, DEAL WITH IT! - George Lucas (quote unconfirmed )

I really like the Ewok blinking.

It gives their lifeless doll eyes some realism and makes the entire Ewok costume more convincing.

I'm very curious to see how Katie Lucas will respond to this over the next few hours because she's been dogmatic about the attacks on her father.

I don't find anything wrong with that scene.

Also i knew Lucas was going to find ways to tie the Prequels to the Originals.
The first 1 is the Dug in ROTJ.

Can't wait to see what else will connect the two???

If she comes out and says that these are false than what does that say about the guy from the NY times??

This was originally directed towards Unkie Fester, before other's piped in on the subject. Since those replies have somewhat made this post obsolete, please disregard this post, except for the Lucas part below, which it think should still be read. Thank you.

A certain audio addition to Return of the Jedi has gotten some people riled up, which is, when the Emperor is attacking Luke with force lightning, just before Vader picks up the Emperor and "shafts" him, the sound bite of Vader saying "No...NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" from Revenge of the Sith had been added, as to voice Vader's feeling towards the Emperor frying Luke.

It just reeks of the addition of Luke's "Wilhelm Scream" from the very end of the Cloud City lightsaber battle in Empire, completely ruining a moment with unneeded sound.

If Lucas thought it was at all important for Vader to cry out "No", don't you think he would have done it 28 years ago, instead of making it look like that he woke up one day and thinking "Ya know what? Vader crying "No!" in Return of the Jedi would be so great to hear rather than him being silent, like he has been for almost three decades..."

I thought I was a true Star Wars fan, but maybe I am not. I do not know why it does not bother me in the least if he changed them or not. If the originals will ever be released in Blu-ray etc. I anxiously await my Amazon order and will watch all 6 in the order they were released at the theater and I have a feeling I will enjoy them all.
I have been lurking in this thread for months and it is a great source of entertainment. I cannot think of anything that has caused this much controversy over so many things and the thread count alone is astonishing.

Thank you all for keeping me entertained, I truly mean that.
May this thread go on for ever.
