Lucas was adamant about the Greedo change. He wanted to portray Han as being more "innocent". His response to the negative fan reaction was what we saw in the 2004 version.

I mean, we're never going to get a perfect release, sure you can hate this go ahead vote with your dollar. I don't want to sound like an apologist but it's not that big of a deal. Star Wars as a whole has so many flaws through all six, not just the PT, that one more doesn't really kill it for me.
Give it time. The Lucas apologists are reeling now but they'll eventually recover and start offering full-throated defenses of this silliness.

It's all opinions though and it is a big deal to some of us. I sincerely hope you enjoy the blu's.

Look at the bright side, he has brought all of the fan forums together as one big p1ssed off family. You all love each other now where before there were only haters and apologists.

It is like the birth of the rebellion against the evil Lucas empire.

Dum dum dum da da dum da da dum.

However, I hope those who get the set(s) enjoy them, I really do. I just think this final change shows that Lucas knows zero about drama/tension or even how to direct. Should have seen it coming too (i.e. the FUBAR ending of the Altered Empire). What made ESB and ROTJ so good was someone else directed them, Lucas had that imput to 'stop.' Too much of a good thing, is just that, too much.
+1. I really hope that whoever gets these enjoys them for what they are. But what they are now no longer satisfies the fan in me. The changes he made just insult the intelligence of long-time fans. Do I need to know how Vader got to the Executer in ESB? Do I need to know why the Tusken Raiders couldn't see R2 in the Jundland Wastes? (Well, it now appears that they couldn't pry him out from the rocks!) Do I need to hear Vader yell "NOOO" in RotJ? Because obivously his non-verbal gestures show his turn from the Dark Side and the Emperor. Seriously, it's no longer a sci-fi epic for all ages. He made the prequels for Katie and Jet, and he made them for kids, and I'm just too old for this $--- now.

I'm just numb right now that Lucas would do this to the fans...again

The true test is this:

Pretend you have all the home video versions (laserdisc, widescreen VHS, anamorphic dvd, letterboxed dvd, blu-rays) of Star Wars in your house. You received all of them for free. Which home video format would you watch for each of the 6 Star Wars films?

Remember that you got The Return of the Jedi blu-ray for free, but you also have 4 other versions that you can pop in as well. Which home video format do you think you will repeatedly watch or maybe you will mix it up?

Mostly because I knew the original versions of the Holy Trilogy would never be included.
I'm actually looking more forward to The final Harry potter, so I can watch them back-to-back. I've seen these movies plenty of times. Many people have seen these movies so many times, they can quote the whole movie. Lucas adds these changes to try and freshen everything up: and give people an incentive to buy. Most people aren't convinced about switching to the blu ray format, and putting out a version of a movie they have seen a million times was never going to change their mind. Lucas probably should have done a branching version with all the deleted scenes inserted in the movie: that definitely would have worked.

Ok this is what I don't get... How is it in the screencap of R2 hiding from the sand people he is part covered by a rock yet in the actual footage showing the new scream by Obi-Wan to get rid of the sand people R2 can be clearly seen.

They can't both be right and changed?

I don't give a sh** about the money. I spend insane amounts of money on movies. That's not what this is about.

I would repeatedly watch the Blu-rays but also keep the non-animporphic DVDs of the original theatrical versions for comparison and nostalgic purposes.

So in the long run, if money is not an issue, which versions do you watch? How did you watch Episode 1 through 6 before this blu-ray release?

It seems the making of starwars(which was released on 9/16/1977) may reveal the origin of the green lightsaber:

Luke's saber was green in what were the work print versions:

You can see the distinction of the colouration at 2:54(for the workprint) and 3:15(for the release print) in the following video:

Maybe Lucas had an affinity for that workprint and sourced if for the blu ray

Actually I think the true test would be getting all versions of the films in 1080p for free. With the playing field equal in terms of picture quality, which versions would you watch for each of the 6 Star Wars films.

Wasn't the new sound mixed with the old footage in those videos?
