Remember that you got The Return of the Jedi blu-ray for free, but you also have 4 other versions that you can pop in as well. Which home video format do you think you will repeatedly watch or maybe you will mix it up?
And this is a true test of what exactly?

Hey, at least with the Vader "Nooo!" addition, internet people have something other than "Han Shot First" to talk about for the next 14 years.

I saw the change. I don't understand why the guy feels compelled to keep making changes, but it doesn't really bother me. Somehow I'll find the will to go on AND buy the set as originally intended. It's one word. lol

I could live with Wicket's change and Jabba's Door
I just can't live with Vader change, Lucas crossed the line ( at least for me )
and the Obi Wan Scream sounds like Someone is getting in the backside ( if you know what I mean ) terrible.

They can't both be right and changed?
You only se the rocks when R2 is behind them. once he comes out they magicly disapear. (this is in the actual rip I've seen it with my own eyes)

Same as how Jabba's door is now even bigger on the outside yet when you have the scenes inside looking out the door way is back to the small size again.

On DVD, and proudly. I never had a beef with the SEs until this change to the friggin emotional climax of the saga.

Before I thought he was just an artist who wanted to tweak. Now I now he's actually a madman.

Like this better. I would take the Blu-ray Prequel Trilogy and the original (unaltered, theatrical) Original Trilogy in 1080p.

Yikes! Wicket's eye is creepy in that shot! Too human looking. Did he do that to all the Ewoks?

I'm going to buy all 6 out of curiousity. I'm not going to get rid of my DVDs though (as I thought I would be doing). The Return of the Jedi is my favorite of the 6, so I see myself doing this:

Episode 1-5: Blu-ray
Episode 6: Blu-ray if the "no" change doesn't bother me overall; dvd if the "no" change does bother me overall

I was pretty disgusted by the Hayden Christiansen ghost when that got put on the DVD, but I have gotten over it, and it hasn't totally ruined the movie for me since watching it over and over since. I'm curious if the "noooo!!!!" will ruin the movie for me or not over time.

And as pissed off as I am at George Lucas (but not surprised), I'm equally entertained by his sadism or experiment that he's conducting on his fans.

I don't think Lucas killed Blu Ray at all. But what he did to the ending of Jedi will certainly add quite a few more fans to the "Anti-Lucas" camp.

UPDATE: Lucasfilm has confirmed to the New York Times' Dave Itzkoff that the Vader "No" change will be included in the Blu-ray releases.

UPDATE #2: Bryan Young from BigShinyRobot! got this from a contact at Lucasfilm:

"Yes, the updates are confirmed. We hope fans will wait to see for themselves how they fit into the Saga before making any judgments."

This builds on the report from the Times by further confirming that the other changes (the Krayt dragon call, the Ewoks, etc.) are also true.

unbelievable. I held out that the nooooooooo!!! and krayt howl were jokes. I can't honestly believe a person in his right mind would do that. Ben sounds like he's getting an enema not imitating a fearsome dragon

Has anyone ever wondered how Luke could be fried as long as he was, without getting a face like the Emperor's?

If we're talking ALL versions, i would pay a ludicrous amount of money to get the UOT in 1080p. I would never watch the PT in any resolution, unless i were paid to. You can't pay me enough to watch what they're about to officially release on blu-ray.

Wow, I have to say I am AMAZED by all of this. Imagine, Star Wars, the movies that affected our childhoods with happiness and emotion are coming to blu-ray. And they even fixed those awful mistakes in the 2004 DVDs. The Phantom Menace's Yoda was digital, Vader's lightsaber was red, even that weird lightsaber crossing in Return of the Jedi was fixed... Everything seemed perfect...
Hell! That box set even had some new amazing deleted scenes and interviews and other bonus stuff!

But then, the day of 30th August came... with that horrorful rumour about Darth Vader shouting "NOOO!" when he is about to murder the Emperor and save his son from a certain death. Just wow... Of course I imagined at first that it was just a cleverly made fake video, but everyone seemed so sure that it was the real deal. Then someone posted that fatal link to that article where Lucasfilm actually confirms it.

First it's like a dream come true... Later it's like your worst nightmare...
And if speaken honestly, I myself don't mind ANY of the 2004 changes to the Original Trilogy, I was ok to 'Greedo shoot first' since it wasn't such a big deal to me. And I even was ok with Hayden as a force ghost at the end of the Return of the Jedi since it made sense to me and it didn't bother me that much.
But this, this I cannot accept. It doesn't tie anything together, I unfortunately can't say that it doesn't make sense, but it ruins the greatest scene in Return of the Jedi. I'm sorry Mr. George Lucas, but you just ruined even the Original Trilogy for me.

Lucky that I didn't pre-order it, so I don't have to cancel anything, but I won't be ordering it anymore. Damn you Lucas, you just ruined the blu-ray version of Star Wars for me, and I guess I have settle for 2004 DVDs.

Yeah, I'm done with Star Wars Blu-Ray version, unless Lucasfilm makes a statement, where they say that Darth Vader's "NOOO!" won't be in the Return of the Jedi. But that's like 5% possible, since ultimately George doesn't care for fans opinions. Ultimately, he just tampers his movies as much as he wants to, no matter how stubid his ideas are.

And before someone gets butthurted from my post I say: I mean no offense to anyone with my post. This is only my opinion of this matter, and you have to just deal with it.

**** you George, **** you.

Well he was always suppossed to be an experimental filmmaker, but now he's experimenting with us. And there doesn't seem to be any cheese at the end of this maze.

The Clone Wars series is good though....
