Spielberg is a better director regardless of whether or not he changes his films as far as I'm concerned. But that's a debate for another thread.

My boys are 8, 10 and 12 and never saw the SE editons or the PT until I had ingrained in them the UOT over and over again and again. They do not like the PT nor the SE editions at all to this day.

If present-day children do not like the UOT, maybe that's an issue with standards in modern entertainment and media rather than the films themselves. It could be the same reason a kid might find something like The Godfather boring but then love it later in life.

This is starting to go off the rails again because we're not likely to see more leaks come in at as high a rate as the past couple days. I honestly think the mods should lock this thread for 12 hours or something and let people chill out instead of rehashing old arguments that will never be settled.

Listen, I'm out. I'm too old to continue with Star Wars fandom. Frankly, it's exhausting. I was out for a while but I got pulled back in...and I'm trying to figure out why the hell I let it happen.

I had about 20 novels from the EU (Thrawn Trilogy, Jedi Academy Trilogy, Tales of, etc.), the graphic novels (Dark Empire, Tales of the Jedi), played all the LucasArts games - like Dark Forces, Jedi Knight II, Shadows of the Empire, TIE Fighter, Rebel Assault, etc. And I was big collector of the 1995 POTF action figure line.

What pisses me off is this: the fact that anytime I want to rewatch the beloved trilogy I grew up on in blu-ray high definition, I can't. And I won't be able to introduce them to my son, in their original theatrical cuts, like my Dad did for me with Empire Strikes Back at around age 10.

So you can take your "they're just movies" crap and flip the eff off.

You won't be able to introduce the original trilogy in their theatrical cuts in HD but you can introduce him with the new blu-ray cut, your son wouldn't mind and he wouldn't have nostalgia ruining his experience.

So you got more involved than others. So what?

Kids in the '80s committed suicide over Dungeons and Dragons, kids in South Korea die playing World of Warcraft. It isn't anyone's responsibility but their own. Nobody held a gun to your head and made you the superfan.

Grow up. They are "just movies". Not a way of life. Not needed for survival in any way in the real world. They don't put money in your pocket or food on your table or give you shelter.

Anyone who cares about movies and the movie industry and then turns around and downloads a bootleg is just adding to the problem.

I know it's easier to steal from what you perceieve as a "faceles entity" is easier than stealing from someone in Real Life. But the impact is the same.

It's theft. Plain and simple. There's no reasonable justfication. If you can't justify stealing from someone in person, then you have no justfication online.

You are too much the "industry" person. The Lucas fan. Considering how clickish, greedy and childish the entertainment industry is, it's perfectly acceptable for the public to screw them over anytime they want.
