Actually I wouldn't need to... if every comment I made didn't get lept upon and debatd endlesly.
Or raged over simply because my opinion doesn't conform to the group mind that I wasn't aware existed.

Welcome to the reality of Star Wars fans. Not all of them see the same things and care about the same aspects.
I said I wasn't going to fool myself in thinking TPM was deep. That's not a comment on your train of thought. I don't really care how many times you saw TPM either.

You have jar-jar as your avatar, you are looking for trouble.

Opinions are a funny thing. They're not right or wrong and it's fine to have unpopular ones, I certainly hold my share, but some are just... come on. When someone complains that Jar Jar doesn't have a larger role in the OT, it really strains credulity

I loved Jar Jar's character when I was 15. I didn't know how hated he was until I discovered Star Wars message boards.

Cause I like Jar Jar. He's my favorite Star Wars character.

I have pretty much every piece of merchandise featuring him. Except the lifesize statue.

Never understood the hate myself. He's no more annoying than C-3PO in the OT. And I like his character arc.

I wish the "Formation of the Rebellion" stuff from RotS which included him was back in RotS as well.

People really actually want that small bit that falls off C-3PO's arm fixed for the Blu-Ray? Or stuff that looks "fake"?

Wow... just wow.
Agree. None of the "mistakes" need to be fixed. Movies are not perfect works of art and they all have mistakes.

Though I would like to have Bobba Fett voice changed back.

C-3PO and R2-D2 were essentially based on the 2 peasants in The Hidden Fortress. Jar Jar was created solely with merchandising in mind.

I can just imagine it now, 2014 Jackson releases the Ultimate box set of all 5 movies and he goes back to the LOTR movies and changes things so that they match the Hobbit. For example maybe using the new young Bilbo in the scene at the start of FOTR when he finds the ring instead of Ian Holm or maybe "fixing" Gollum so that he looks like he will in The Hobbit.

You heard it here first folks.
ahhh, he already did- the new color timing...

he previously mentioned in the FOTR commentary that he "may go back and fix gollum in a future release"

Thanks for the unnecessary history lesson. But the point still stands.

I don't care why Jar Jar was created. Though it was more to see if they could pull off a CGI main character.

He's no more "toyetic" than Chewbacca. But Chewbacca certainly doesn't earn similar Fan-Rage.

Since I still have never seen 'The Hidden Fortress', that'll be interesting to keep in mind when I do watch it. Cool.

I didn't care for it myself.

But I recommend checking it out if your a Star Wars fan. Just to see some of where ideas spawned from.

C3P0's opening line (or thereabouts) wasn't "ex-squeeze me" :shudder:
Case closed, in my book

That's because Chewbacca is actually useful and intelligent, unlike Jar Jar who plays the role of Mr. Bean in TPM; that is if Mr. Bean was a lizard with an awful Caribbean accent.

I never was a big fan of Chewbacca, I think he reminded me of Bigfoot and I was scared shitless of the latter at that age...

That's because Chewie is cool.

I don't see a character ark for jar-jar at all, he was a bumbling idiot in TPM ans was just a big an idiot in AOTC. He never got smarter over time, he just consistently made a mess of things. He could be completely absent from the SW universe and the story would not be impacted in any meaningful way.

Not picking on you alone, but everyone responding to Beast's posts needs to stop. If you guys think he's trolling, then remember that one shouldn't feed trolls. Getting upset at Beast's strange comments is only encouraging him.

This back and forth isn't going anywhere, honestly. I enjoyed the arguments earlier this summer but now it's just too damn much and the thread repeats itself every 10 posts.
