I always wonder if any extremely popular movie has a chance of achieving the kind of status Star Wars has in the internet age, with so much vocal internet forum naysaying that after a couple of years you almost forget the movies were extremely well-recieved when people first saw them

Agreed. Back to Star Wars. And especially the Blu-Rays.

I wonder how long before we start hearing something about the PT.

I'm looking forward to seeing what new surprises there are beyond the digital E1 Yoda.

Hopefully the added the scene where Padme' faked her death and died two years later with Leia. It could've been done easily enough, she had so many look-a-like handmaidens.

Oh my bad, let's let Jar Jar there run up his post count, wouldn't want to put the brakes on that.

Didn't realize I was interrupting such important discussion.

Did you guys hear that Vader yells NOOOO in RotJ? Plus I hear the Ewoks blink.

Also George Lucas owns the movies, not us, so he can do what he wants, and the prequel trilogy is an abomination/amazing.

There, back on track.

Okay then, Beast has blinders on and is in denial...duly noted.

It's unfortunate that you won't even give the Plinkett reviews a shot, Beast. They are quality on so many levels, from the satire itself (my sense of humor is pretty dark, so I love it), to the editing (which many agree is brilliant), to the critical approach they take to the PT.

Again, I state clearly...to each his own. Beast can love TPM all he wants, but there IS objectivity to be found in this debate, and when enough film scholars and experts agree, that can add up to pure fact.

It's your opinion that TPM is the best of the Saga, and that's fine. But it's a proven FACT that it's actually NOT a good film (much in the same way that it's a fact that Citizen Kane or The Godfather are masterpieces), and the majority vote can take that fact to the history books.

I had the HBO recording of the 6 star wars films in HD. I had them on my dvr for a very long time. I then upgraded my dvr for 3d. so I lost it. that was a few months ago. I knew the series was coming out to blu ray. I was not really that worried. I already preordered the set.

Nobody insults c3p0. He's not annoying, stupid and an offensive racial stereotype like jar jar binks. He's also the most human character and he is the eyes of the audience. And he's actually funny.

C-3PO worked because he had human tendancies and it was juxtaposed with an android. When you think along the lines of robot, you think stiff and unfeeling. He was a worried, neurotic mess and everybody loved him for it, cause everybody knows someone like that. Jar Jar really was and is an annoyance. Like a fly that just keeps trying to land on you or your food and you have to continue to swipe at it.

Seems we have something we agree on.

Yeah, Insomnia is definitely an underrated gem.

Not making a good case there, Beast thinks the Godfather is a "terrible" film

My head hurts.

It's art. It's all art. There is no FACT.

You know it's funny you say that, cause I was able to watch them both again back to back, and I realized that on a thematic level at least, The Dark Knight felt kind of like a rerun of the first film. It was strange.

But yeah, let's stay on target.

Oh yeah I forgot about just simply cutting the audio in. I think the problem would ultimately would be burning 6.1 DTS HD audio. I have made some HD videos and tried to burn 5.1 but my software wouldn't do it, but thats just my software.

It sucks, man.

The internet tries to make me hate everything, but all it succeeds at is making me hate everyone on it.

Nobody can just enjoy something anymore and decide how they personally feel about it. Now the internet decides, and if something gets too popular on the internet, someone decides they'll hate it just on principle, to prove what a unique and beautiful snowflake they are.

Well, we know for a fact that Citizen Kane and The Godfather are selected for preservation due to their cultural and historical significance.

I'm just saying, I think Citizen Kane is one very dull film, but I can't deny it's influence and I can't not acknowledge that it is a masterpiece, in the technical sense of the word.

See what I'm saying?

Neither is true. I just simply have a different opinion than you do.

Sorry. Gave it a chance. The people in the review are like nail on a chalkboard.
I don't tend to go out of my way to watch things that I can't stand. Hence avoiding Gangster films.
Every aspect of the little bit that I could stomache was just more of the same tired moaning.

Sorry. But so-called film scholars and experts are simply offering their opinions.
Claiming what they say to be more valid or more factual than anyone else is nonsense.

Sorry, but it's not a "Proven Fact". And please, don't bring up Citizen Kane or The Godfather. You consider them Masterpieces. I do not.

And it's also funny you should mention The Godfather, because Beast thinks it's a boring, unwatchable film (not sure how he feels about Citizen Kane though).

UPDATE: I just found out how Beast feels about Citizen Kane, and I'm not surprised.
