In terms of what was fixed we need to wait for the reviews to see if stuff was fixed as they say.

Don't believe some half-ass site who says that nothing was fixed if they are telling the truth then ask them to prove it show us that they have the movies in hand and if they don't then they are lying.

And don't give me that crap about I'LL GET IN TROUBLE LEGALLY IF I SHOW YOU.

I just do not understand WHY he wouldn't want to show fans the two (or 4...lol) alternative cuts. That way fans can compare and contrast, and see all the hard work that went into each cut. Let the world see the 'progress' made from first cut to final. It is not rocket science. But whatever, PT set is all I am buying this time around (I know, I am brave for admiting that...lol, but no way is my money going to a the OT at this point).
I would wait to see what the reviews say before cancelling the pre-order.
I have been watching that scene a few times, and it really does not ruin the scene at all it does not overpower the other voices in that scene.
If it turns out that they fixed everything like they said than i am sure you can overlook the NOOOO scene.

That statement could possibly indicate a wavering on the issue. It's certainly an improvement over his nonsensical "they don't exist anymore" statements of the past. Only time will tell. Assuming they won't ever be released again is just as ridiculous as assuming they will, to paraphrase another member here.

Let people discuss what they want around here and praise/criticize whatever they want if they follow the rules. To me, those who complain about the "complainers" are just people that can't stand criticism of their sacred cows. It's a discussion board about Blu-ray, and specifically Star Wars in this thread. Opinions don't need to be all positive. This isn't supposed to be a den of sycophants. It's supposed to be people with opinions from all ends of the spectrum. Those opinions can run the gamut from positive to negative and be repeated as often as they like. We've got post*****s here who run up the page counts and I don't see the pro-changes crowd moaning about that. Surely, this was never intended to be a board where only praise and rosy statements about Star Wars and George Lucas' ideas are allowed. It's a discussion board.
I agree. Eventually the OT (unaltered) will be available, now is just not that time (probably with the 3D release). So, I will enjoy the PT and watch all those deleted scenes online via a popular streaming site...lol. I've calmed down a bit from the "NO. NOOOOO!" episode and just decided the current blu ray verisons of the OT are not worth my money.

A child sees Return of the Jedi and doesn't need to see the Ewoks "blink", he or she just accepts them as presented, and the child then fills in the gaps all on his own.

This is the same reason why animation is so gripping to young minds. Animation is clearly unreal, but the young mind accepts the unreality by substituting the unreality for known reality, and once that starts to happen, all sorts of associations follow - hence Bambi's mother is not a drawing, and is not a deer - she comes to represent the very real mother in that child's life, hence the trauma children have when she is suddenly killed.

Star Wars has worked in the same way - Lucas even once referred to the original Star Wars as a "Disney film" - I think trying to make it ever-more photo-real is self-defeating, just as attempts to make Bambi more realistic would be self-defeating.
Well said.

I would say that it's too late for that with regards to the OT anyway. Those films have been completly ruined, what other changes have been made at this point are moot. The PT should be the only thing talked about from here on out if you like those films. Now there is where most of the changes and cuts/additions should have been made.

I think it's silly that GL keeps tweaking with things in nearly 30-year old movies, but none of these changes make me even consider cancelling my pre-order.

It's a word.

It wasnt till after that that he became the cold gangster SOB badass Vader we remember from the OT, the cold gangster in all black with the cape and no love.
As soon as I got home from work last night I saw for myself the "Nooooooo!" from the end of RotJ. Let me say that while I really wish the change had not been made, the change was not AS BAD as I expected it to be and could have been a lot worse. As I said, I still wish it was not added. The way some had made it out to be I was picturing Vader to start howling as soon as Emperor started electrocuting Luke. As it is, he watches for a good period and says "No" just before he picks him up.

This thread just exploded since the nooooo announcement. It's funny how 1 single line of dialogue can cause everyone to freak out.

Is the "No! Nooooo!" the exact same soundbyte from ROTS? ("Where is Padme. You killed her. No. Noooooo!")

That's a little lame, if so.

You mean he didn't have the technology to add it back then? Or at anytime in the last zillion releases? Please if you are buying that he wanted it originally included back then I have a this wonderful oceanfront property in Arizona that I am willing to let go at a great price.

Seriously i would reserve judgement until the reviews come out. Than decide if you want to cancel.

Handy, why are you STILL questioning the legitimacy of these things? All 3 movies are readily available to those who are looking for them. It's not like only 1 person is posting this. Not to mention that they HAVE proven it to us with countless comparison screenshots and even videos in some cases. Lucasfilm hasn't denied any of this (believe me, they are reading the forums and must be embarrassed right now) and even confirmed the major change that has been found in the leak. Waiting for a review isn't going to magically change what's on the final retail disc.

No we don't...

We have the rips, why do we need to wait 10 more days for reviews...

There have already been lists posted about the changes in both ANH and ESB.

Maybe instead of trying to make the OT match 21st century visual f/x films, maybe the Prequels should have been produced to match late 70's, early 80's filmmaking tech.

Just a thought.

If the site that is saying that nothing has been fixed than they need to prove it.

NOTE** If the person who leaked the scenes has not said anything about whether or not they fixed anything then we can assume they did fix some stuff. Otherwise it would be all over the web by now.
