Star Trek fans are now cooler than Star Wars fans.

I dunno... I think I like the changes!!!

The CGI Yoda is killer...

I am hoping he changed the Ep3 NOOOOO... to something similar to what is in Jedi. I don't mind that new line and sort of connects the Darth Vader emotion from part 3.

Darth never shows a caring emotion until this scene and perhaps now we understand he remembers losing Padme and doesn't want to lose his son. I think a lot of people will finally connect the two.

Good changes! Looking forward to more.

Why didn't they include the option to watch the original or the altered versions of the films? It's perfectly possible on Blu-ray, look at the Alien Anthology, they include both versions of the movies with seamless branching.

They introduce all these new things on Blu-ray but some never get used (anyone seen a Blu-ray where you can alter the font of the subtitles? the option is there but not used)

lol!

If you go online and spread positive reviews about the Return of the Jedi blu-ray, I will send you a goody bag which includes all of the Star Wars home videos for free, as well as a 140" screen!

Just a thought.
This is a very interesting thought. I do remember LucasFilm making a comment to the point of "they will never look like the original films because of film making technology", that is not an exact quote, but something to that effect.

I personally feel that if the original Star Wars would have been released 3 years ago, it would be nothing more than a laughable sci-fi movie with horrible directing, horrible acting, so-so effects and a great musical score.

The reason Star Wars is Star Wars is because it was completely ground breaking. No one had seen anything like this in main stream cinema and it literally changed how movies are made.

I guess my point is I bet they thought about it and then realized it wouldn't work in this day and age.....

Because George Lucas doesn't prefer them.

That's the only reason, silly as it may seem. So instead, we get Star Wars v4.0.

With Alien, the changes are only minor and the audio is the same.

With Star Wars, there are so many changes, plus the audio mixes are different... seamless branching wouldn't suffice for something like this

plus the video would probably exceed 50 GB, so it would need a second disc anyways

You are right the CGI Yoda is killer....the PT films are the ones that needed the most changing to fit the OT not vice versa. It's too bad Gl could not have gone out to the shed at Skwalker Ranch and taken the several puppets he used in ESB and reused them in the PT. That would have been too easy I guess.

I think it's understood that Lucas can change anything he wants in the prequels since no one really gives a crap about them. I haven't heard one person say, "I can't believe he's making changes in the prequels. The DVD versions are the original versions of the prequels."

The puppets would probably have crumbled as soon as they were exposed to the hot studio lighting.

I dunno guys... why are people so upset?

It is still the same movie.

What has George changed that hasn't made the movies better? Most of the changes are just minor tweaks that really don't effect anything.

If these movies were released at the exact same time they were(ie: this new version of RotJ released in 1982) then would you all say how stupid it was at the time???

C'mon Maaan!

The puppets from the OT are deteriorating. They weren't meant to last forever.

They took a mold from one of the original puppets and for whatever reason it just did not turn out well.

I'm not a Star Trek fan, but at least now they can say they have one awesome non-tampered Star Trek film (the 2009 version) out of all 11 Star Trek films versus three tampered Star Wars films that used to be awesome.

That doesn't even remotely make sense. Also, look into the Director's Cut of The Motion Picture sometime.

I for one will not cancel my pre-order for the Saga.
I already own the 2004 dvd's.

So they could not duplicate what they made? I think it was more of a lets try to make him look younger and it did not turn out well. The guy was 900 years old what would 30 years younger really look like at that point?
