anyone else really hate the new saber ignition sound Luke has in the carbon freezing chamber? I wonder if they really recreated the audio like they said. I can't believe they still left the saber deactivation sound in the wrong place during the escape from the wampa layer. Obviously they didn't do anywhere near the amount of QC they professed to. That new saber sound is just kind of loud and blaring. The old one sounded really focused and fit the mood perfectly. These BDs do seem like a rehash of the '04 dvds. Good thing for Ady's work.

The quotes are taken from an '80s speech that Lucas gave in front of a congress hearing when he and others were trying to stop the colorization of films. The idiots who keep trying to use this quote against him are taking it out of context to fit their own agenda.

If you read his whole speech he was referring to people and companies altering the works of others who have died. He mentioned nothing about people editing their own work. And again he was mainly fighting to defend the work of dead artists who could not voice their own opinion about someone else changing their work.

Avatar I think. Not sure how many though. It's in the millions though. According to Wikipedia it sold 2.7 million in the US and Canada on Blu-Ray in it's first 4 days of release.

It would be kind of funny if after everyone cancelled, we discovered that the original theatrical presentations of the PT were Easter eggs on the discs.

I think Avatar is around 5-6 million units. Inception and The Dark Knight might be 2 and 3 on the all-time list.

I figured it was probably Avatar but I really don't follow the sales results much for movies, not something I am interested much in

I think it will sell maybe from 500 000 to 750 000 units in this first release over a period of the next few months up to Christmas. It's probably going to be a huge Christmas gift, specially if there is some sort of sales in November during Thanksgiving.

Mentioning GL's talk before congress reminded me somehow of these baseball players who testified before congress about steroids.....

So people someday people have the opportunity to go back and look up the films and see them as they were done theatrically for a source of historical accuracy! There has to be the masters available because future generations shouldn't study the original versions of these films in a non anamorphic dvd copy, who know's when the DVD format won't be around anymore and the players scrapped, then how will future generations will be able to see them?
That is the strangest thing in this thread.

Yup.
It's No.3 on the best seller list.

Only a small portion of hardcore fans will not buy/cancel(just like LOTR EE) this release, which will not be enough to impact the bottom line(revenue).

Continue to discuss the whining, *****ing, moaning, venting of distaste for this release on to deaf ears of the Internet black hole because GL is in his ivory tower shrugging his shoulders counting his cash.

*I personally do not like the changes but watching an upconverted DVD on a 117" screen just doesn't cut it. I'll probably wait though when there's a price drop around/after Black Friday to make a purcahse.

not horrible. But a bit under whelming if you watched anything directly before or after it on blu-ray.

Shame on you Lucus !!!!
Where is the full quote so we can see it in context.
Is he speaking about movies/entertainment or works of real "art."

No, they were very enjoyable for me. I just watched the movies though instead of analyzing each individual frame while pouring chicken blood over a George Lucas voodoo doll, so I might be the wrong person to ask.

I want a blu-ray of the original versions as much as anyone.

But the "We need it for future generations to know how the originals looked" argument is a bit of a joke.

This is Star Wars after all. If future generations have the internet, I think the might be able to find, oh a wee bit of information on the Original trilogy.

I am hoping he changed the Ep3 NOOOOO... to something similar to what is in Jedi. I don't mind that new line and sort of connects the Darth Vader emotion from part 3.

Darth never shows a caring emotion until this scene and perhaps now we understand he remembers losing Padme and doesn't want to lose his son. I think a lot of people will finally connect the two.

Good changes! Looking forward to more.
How would CGI Yoda look in this caption?
