I can deal with the changes. The bigger issue to me is the "quality" of these movies. How do you make a PR announcement that you have been working on these for years, sent them through 3 quality-control phases, and reassured us that the mistakes from the '04 DVD have been fixed?

Let's face it; we all knew changes were coming as it was inevitable. But when you go out of your way to explain that a lot of work went into the movies for the BD release and you fix things that would have been oblivious to nearly everyone, but overlook the biggest mistakes and not even think twice about it?? Blinking Ewoks and Obi-Wan's scream were the furthest from my mind.

All of these news articles coming out say that the fans are upset about the new additions. Why don't they mention that some of us might actually be more disappointed about the quality of the BDs which is a contradiction from what we've been told over the last few weeks.

As I said before, I can deal with the additions because they only last a few seconds. It's the quality they promised us and failed to deliver.

In 1995, Lucas and Fox restored Star Wars for the Special Edition. They cut Special Edition changes into the original negative. Still, 5 Technicolor prints (one of which Lucas owned in 1995) exist, and there are also the three-color separation masters. Both the separation masters, and then the Technicolor prints could be used to restore the theatrical presentation as it was in 1977.

I understand the Library of Congress also has a copy of some sort, I wonder if Lucas forced them to take the 1997 special editions (since the 2004 versions don't exist as prints), or if they have one of the Technicolor prints. I hear a collector has one, Lucas had one in 1995, and I think UCLA has another.
Apparently Lucas offered the AFI the restored Special Edition, and they told him they would not accept it and demanded the original. AFAIK, of course, so don't quote me

I don't know if it will or not, but your "definitive" edition simply can't be definitive anymore because Lucas won't be finished re-editing it for another decade or two.

Same here...i suppose i could let myself get worked up about it, but in the big scheme of things that one line isnt all that important to me. I look forward to getting my hands on this set in a few weeks.

1) New Yoda is a good addition.
2) Vader saying Nooo is stupid but doesn't ruin the whole movie.
3) What was changed with Obi Wan? What did the original dragon call sound like?
4) The Ewok thing is pretty cool no complaint there.

I've watched all the changes for bluray and you know what? They don't really bother me! The "Noooooo" at the end of Jedi sounds ok. I don't think it makes the scene better necessarily , nor does it make it worse. Its just different. Had it been there from the beginning no one would have ever complained.

What I take issue with more than anything are the things that DIDN'T get fixed like the OT light sabers to match the PT. Now that is more aggrivating than anything else to me and seems like it would be one one of the easier things to fix.

Besides that the only other things I don't care for are Han/Greedo because the scene doesnt look natural and Jedi Rocks. Wish Lucas would go back to the original scenes on these.

I started an argument a long while back about why Thr library of congress would want the original print and it was based off that statement: which I eventually found out was a lie.

looking at these the changes isn't that bad at all. I think most of them is done for the better to make the movies less cheap

+1,000 on this. I can handle all the changes, but the lack of fixing the messed up light sabers, or the continuity errors introduced from other alterations is what really makes me mad.

I'm pretty sure the Blu-rays will look better, but I'd hang onto the Definitive Collection and Episode I Japanese LD just so you can have the original cuts. I think my copies of those LDs are in the attic somewhere along with the LD player that hasn't been hooked up in years. But you never know when you'll get the urge to watch them.

You are a 100% ACCURATE. The actual QUALITY of these releases is MORE important than any silly tweaks and changes that we'll probably get used to eventually.

Many of these "news" sites are simply run by people whose idea of research is a 2 second google search or simply ripping off the same article from another site and repeating every major point in their own snarky words.

Sorry that's not news - that's lazy writing and horrid reporting.

The only change that irks me is the added "nooos" however I am with you in that I also feel the LFL press release was very dishonest.

They heavily implied that this set would have many corrections and fixes however none of the reported leaks are reflective of their supposed "three levels of quality control" or their "smoothing over of problems" and "tlc".

Unfortunately it would seem that their fixes and corrections are spotty at best.

The fact that they boasted about their effort is what makes the whole thing shady.

Anyway, a few days ago I was disappointed but now I'm indifferent.

It is what it is, some things just suck in life, lol.

I'm happy with most of the changes, happy about cg Yoda and a new TPM transfer, the bonuses, the deleted scenes....etc...it's NOT all bad.

But yeah - I wish these "news reports" weren't so damn lazy. I wish they'd at least try to call LFL on their dishonesty and mention the fans who feel they still haven't fixed things as they promised they would in a more consistent manner. Doing that would be much more useful and informative than a standard "Crazy Star wars fans go crazy again becuz of teh CHANGES!!!" article which does nothing more than incite trolls and angry nerds to bash and rant away ENDLESSLY.

This is exactly my problem and why I cancelled my Complete Saga order. I can deal with most of the changes (the NOOO! is beyond stupid though) but they don't appear to have done a darn thing for the quaility of the release. I knew I was in trouble when they said they went with the 2004 masters and built from there. I just don't think this particular set is worth my money.

However, I did preorder the PT because I know two of the three movies are going to look amazing, and I am pretty sure with TPM getting the 3D treatment that they actually did a new master for it. So, things should be good there. Yes, I will miss out on the special features, but I can live with that. I just can't live with owning a subpar product.

I know this has probably been answered several times, but I can't find it. What is the difference in content between the Complete Saga vs the Original and Prequel Trilogies. It looks like it is $10 cheaper to buy each trilogy separately than buying The Complete Saga. Thanks!

The complete saga has 3 discs of extras that aren't available in the original/prequel trilogies.
