But Let's face it, Lucasfilm did get a LOT of hopes up by saying "we fixed things!" when in reality that appears to not really be the truth (insert 'certain POV pun here). Lucas then adding in two needless lines to one of the OT's most powerful moments (imo) really was insult to injury. For that select group, they will react harshly when they feel they have been lied to and then given the middle finger immediately there after.

I don't think there is a soul here whom did not anticipate some changes. I welcome the Ewoks blinking, that is nice! But taking a scene that is built with QUIET emotion and altering it to having the subtley of a sledghammer...yeah, that was the 'line in the sand Donny!" I am voicing my disappointment with my wallet though.

Anyway, I know your feelings (I read everyone of your posts typically, prob something to do with your Hepburn avatar...lol, yeah I dig her) and I hope you enjoy the set (Now to quote by boy KennyK...lol..) "in full HD with 6.1 sound!"
I understand the frustrations. I am one who wish he would give in and release them as they once were, I would buy them again so it's a win-win for him. What can I say, he is stubborn and for some reason he just want things done his way so all I can it's is choice. Granted while being a HUGE Star Wars fans I am more mild in my reaction.

However I can tell you I did have a WTH moment when I first heard the NO

That's what they told the HTF/Bill Hunt/Special Event people last week.

They LIED.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...ml#post5147953

"Other issues we address: You know how things just look different when they go into HD or DVD, just by the nature of how the video treats the color space? A perfect example is in 2004 with the light sabers, how in the original trilogy all of the light sabers sort of dimmed, you lost that really hot, white core. Well, we went back and wanted to really be true to the original intention of the films, so we brightened up the light saber colors and we brought back that hot, white core that was original to the film."

This statement has been proven as FALSE, particularly for ESB.

They weren't. Lucasfilm lied and that is one of the biggest problems people are having with this set.

Default That does it for me! No sale!

I saw the blinking ewok eyes (not bad)

Heard BOTH Vader NO's: the first one spoken (not necessary), the second one yelled (ridiculous)

But that Obi-Wan scream change in Ep. 4 to scare off the Tusken Raiders, (RIDICULOUS!) I burst out laughing!

My Amazon order is CANCELLED.

NO sale, George. No sale.

Some are fixed. A minority through ANH and ROTJ. Some are not. NONE are fixed in ESB.

They clearly stated "ALL" (see my post above).

They did not fix all.

They flat out lied.

And the color timing for all three films is still wrong like in 2004.

In that one scene yes, but there is Luke's saber changing from green to blue in ANH and Vader's pink saber in ESB.

You mean I'm gonna have to get my TV calibrated again to get the right colour? Damn, I'm not buying this set.....too much aggrevation. Man, I just want to buy a movie/series and be done with this, but the feedback about "sabre colour" issues and excessive "Noooo's" are too much.

As for the hatred towards Lucas that others are deriding, I think it stems from a very simple reaction. If you are of a certain age, when you watch the Star Wars OT, you are not just enjoying them for the films themselves, but for the nostalgia. The films take you back to a different time and place, back to that magical first experience.

By messing with the films, Lucas is messing with that nostalgia. So he is introducing a jarring change to the way that the movies were first experienced, and thus changing the original feeling of watching the movies. It is a very discordant feeling.

(Although the changes may seem superficially minor, for many people, the films are practically memorized, so even small changes are jarring.)
I agree but nobody comes out of a theater remembering every frame and scene of a movie.

If an individual saw Star Wars one time in 1977(no matter how old they were at the time) and never saw it again until this Blu ray release in 2011 they would not remember if there was a rock in front of R2D2,if Vader's saber was pink, white or red, or if there was a wolfman alien in the cantina ect ect.

Why was there no outrage back in 1981 when the Episode IV title was included in the opening scroll?

Because at that point in time ,the majority of fans probably did not remember if it had always been there or not---because there was no home video market that allowed people to watch the movie 20 zillion times!
(although you would probably have to make an exception for those fortunate enough to have bootleg copies from the then burgeoning pirate/black market-----but these would have been insignificant numbers---probably less than a hundred people back in 77',78',79'80 and 81'--I am guessing here).

So the majority of fans(I am one of them) who saw the films in their original theatrical forms back in the late 70's/early 80's don't remember EXACTLY what we saw----e.g---we remember Han blasting Greedo----but i'll be honest---from my personal recollection of viewing Star Wars theatrically in 81' ---I can't remember if Greedo shot first(I only know Han fired 1st because I saw it later on home video 20000 F*****g times during the 80's---lol!)

I hope you get my point.

Thanks. I'm with you in wanting a restored UOT. I'm passionate about that too. On the other hand, the few that are talking about his death or calling him rotten names or taking to Twitter to fight with his daughter are going over the top. I don't even care what his daughter says or thinks but fighting with someone's child over films?

Default Star Wars Bluray-Leaked Obi-Wan Krayt Dragon Audio

This is the first test re-edit that George Lucas tried on the Bluray release. Now this is just getting ridiculous!

I think the "Noooo" is supposed to link the birth of Vader (Ep. III) and the death of Vader.

I watched the video and that is what first came to mind. It's not ruined for me.

I'm generally avoiding this thread, huge SW fan, but the amount of complaining wasting pages here is a lot. Not worth sorting through it all for a good post.

I usually don't judge by screen grabs, but in this case it's fairly simple to see that the color timing (and majority of the lighsaber issues) are the same as the 2004 release, which has far too "blue" in the color timing (especially ESB - see blue tinted snow on Hoth). The "too blue" color timing is one of the reasons for the lightsaber color issues in ESB. Fixing the color timing would have probably fixed most of these issues naturally. But they didn't. Instead they spent their time adding CGI ewok eyelids, smelting sparks, and rocks in front of R2-D2.

And trust me - I'm a very forgiving person when it comes to these things. I own Patton, for example, despite the overused DNR.

It's the LYING that has me upset more than anything. I don't like driving a lemon off the lot after being deceived. Fortunately, some other people test drove the car first.

These movies are already not the movies that I saw as a kid in the theater. So, I really could care less what changes are made. I just want them to look as good as possible.
