I find it interesting that some people think Star Wars fans complain just to complain, or that we don't actually enjoy talking about the things we love in the films. Strangely, I'm always beaming with enthusiasm for all the other franchises I love. I leave complaints to others, who genuinely have issues with the screenwriting, cinematography, acting, etc. For myself, I focus on the things I love when it comes to the films I grown up with.

...and if the BDs were actually those films (the "Star Wars Trilogy" ~ 1977, 1980, 1983), I'd have this thread overflowing with love, affection, and praise.

No I think people would still find things to moan about.

The No at the end of Sith has been there since day one and from day one it's - rightly - been the subject of no small measure of ridicule.

People aren't upset about this No simply because it's new. They're upset because it's bad.

Just read that Vader now yells "NOOOO" as he saves Luke. What. The. Hell.

Hope he's trolling.

New Darth Maul vid on the official site shows the new transfer, you can actually see the object being force thrown into the door controls for the first time.

In addition, in 1983, you also didn't have an entire 3 film story arc that detailed Anakin/Vader's character, so I'd say that changes his character more than some silly "No". Lucas wanted you to know what he's thinking, since, in effect, the entire saga is now about him, not Luke.

But if you watch the OT by itself, its about Luke not Vader. Lucas wrote the story about Luke back then and now he's trying to change history and thats not right. He can make all the changes he wants but give us the UOT also.

Has George Lucas or his PR crew released a statement in response to all the criticism?

I haven't been keeping up with this release lately. Trying to get caught up.

Now not so sure I want to know more.

There was never any green to the saber in the theatrical versions or any home video releases of those versions. Not in the theater, on VHS, or LD. The first instance of a green saber was when they gave us the 2004 release with screwed up color timing and boosted contrast. End of story. I find it very odd that you have twice come on this site with crazy ideas about the lightsabers and then try to play the "get the last word" game in a vain effort to appear correct, when you aren't.
Too bad actual evidence proves you wrong.

Notice how the 2004 DVD has the same colour change of the saber from green to blu as Luke gets hit:

Just like the 1977 documentary:

Next.

Can't wait for the 'Duel of the Fates' in glorious HD. This was just about the most epic thing I'd ever seen at 15. It's still probably my all time favorite fight scene(s).

I think I made the inital suggestion. Loved The Mist in Black & White. I've heard they even made films like this on purpose back in the day but it never really caught on....
