That's why I'm glad that while I grew up with the originals, I still love and appreciate the Prequels. I have a huge sense of Nostalgia for the OT, and collected all the toys and such back then. And I love the films, but I feel the same feeling for the PT. Are there aspects I don't like about the films? Sure. But that's true of every film that I love. None are perfect, but they still speak to me in a way no other films do. But that's the great thing about the Star Wars Saga, there's something there for every fan. It's a film series that almost defies classification, since it incorporates so many different genres.

Yep, that says it all. Can't we just enjoy some fun, popcorn movies and the parts of the movies we like/love. That's what I do. And, there are very few movie saga's that I can watch with my kids and we all enjoy them.

Anakin being capable of that kind of brutality was just presented as a fait accompli - it was just the kind of guy he was. How he became that kind of guy? Eh, details...details...he just did.

That didn't work for me.

It turned what could have been a very interesting character into a bad Seinfeld parody - How did Anakin Skywalker become Darth Vader? Well, he was a pretty normal kid and yada yada yada he slaughtered an entire village and Palpatine pretty much took it from there.

Did you just yadda yadda yadda the best part?

Looking good! But I'm interested if they replaced "Fake Windu" from a few scenes earlier.

The stand-in for Mace when the Republic Shuttle lands has always kinda bugged me.

Would be easy enough for them to CGI Lop-off "Fake Windu's" head and replace it with SLJ's.

I wrote a post a month ago about this topic. I always thought SW was about Luke, Han and Leia. But really, the story is a story of redemption, of a good man turning bad, and in the end, coming back.

That's why that theme is made more clear by seeing the PT. That is why Lucas wanted to change the SE versions to show this more clearly, to link all 6 movies together.

It's the story about the skywalker family, specifically about Anakin. SW is about Anakin Skywalker.

And to everyone who complains about Anakin being a whiny kid - if he wasn't he wouldn't be a "real" character. If he was the same mean villian even when he was 10, there would be no sympathy for him. Kids are whiny. Everyone complaining about it was whiny at one time. Doesn't anyone understand the idea of a character arc? And what redemption means? Jeez.
Luke was whiny, can you hear it ..."but Uncle Owen.... I was going to..." .

Sadly, though, you could definitely argue that this will not be the case for future generations who only see the films in Episode 1 - 6 order.
Why should that make you sad?
My kids grew up on all 6 - my 8 year old daughter loves ep 1 (Jar Jar) and they understand the story as intended (that it's about Anakin).

One story - about the Skywalker family. I love it!

Default Why no blu ray review ???

The Others blu ray was reviewed a few days ago. It comes on 9/20.

Star Wars comes out earlier - 9/16 - and still no review.

What gives?

That's a good point. Before TPM released most SW fans complained about Luke being a whiny little bastard, same with 3PO. Now they are revered as icons and they were always perfect without flaws.

Wow, another extraordinarily asinine statement. Some people don't like the "No", feel it's unneeded, and feel it takes away the power from that scene as it has existed for 28 years, and because of this, you just come to this stupid, ridiculous conclusion?

Now only those who appreciate each and every little change actually "get" what Star Wars is about. Anyone who thinks that the rocks added in front of R2 (which shortly there after disappear while still showing that little cave or whatever in the background, creating a continuity error) were not the best idea given how they weren't added to all shots of that cave must not get Star Wars either! And anyone who laughs at and thinks that Obi Wan's new howl is laughable must not understand it either!

Yes, the only ones who can possibly "get" what these films are all about are those who embrace each and every arbitrary, unneeded change with complete open arms.

Yes, keep making more absurd blanket statements like this one. Thanks for completely failing to add anything of any remote substance to the conversation.

1. The Others is a Lionsgate Title. Not a 20th Century Fox Title.

2. The Others is just One Movie. Star Wars is 6 Movies + 3 Bonus Discs of Extras.

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just isn't the same.

How did Jedi Rocks improve the movie greatly besides side-tracking the story for an extra 3 minutes? I'm surprised he hasn't removed the Cantina band with some CGI crap. The CGI looks out of place with the practical effects that are in the rest of the movie. Large puppet Jabba, a motley crew of sinister creatures and now a CGI dance number, an awkward Han Solo with a kink in his neck, Solo stepping on Jabba's tail.

I know that he is trying to correct things. But every time he corrects one thing, it make 5 other things out of place. It's just a nasty domino effect. He should simply re-boot the original trilogy and do it exactly the way he wanted to supposedly film it.

Agree to disagree.

ROTJ focus was about the dark side, and what Jedi Luke understands about it.

And oh, douche-baggery has nothing to do with good or evil. A person can be a douche and a good guy at the same time. Anakin in AotC was a teenager. 80% of teenage males are douchebags. That's all the explanation you need to understand his behavior at that age.

Also, Anakin's temper was already evident in TPM. His short fuse was evident by his reaction when Padme called him a slave. He then got into that fist-fight with Greedo in the deleted scenes. He was jawing with Sebulba before the pod race. When the Jedi Council debated his candidacy for the Order, Anakin was practically seething in the background. Finally, when Qui-Gon tells Anakin to stay put in the cockpit... Anakin disobeys, and distorts the technical meaning of Qui-Gon's word to justify his disobedience. Funny enough, that's the exact same thing he does with Obi-wan's orders in AotC.

Anger is what drove Anakin to kill the women and children. That was made explicitly clear in AotC. He was clearly remorseful after the fact. And it was obvious he committed this slaughter in a fit of rage. That's why he was sorry and crying.

TPM made it explicitly clear that Anakin had a problem with anger. I already listed examples above. Yoda even made that loooong speech to Anakin about anger leading to hate and suffering. How much more explicit do you want it to be? Yoda practically spells it out for you. Do I really need to connect the dots for you too?

I swear, some people are just so blind with hate they've lost any sense of objectivity.
Yes people are really blind. Anakin slaughtered these sand people because they killed his mother. He never did it because he liked it.

It replaced the worst puppet in the entire Saga, Sy Snootles... with a much improved CGI replacement.

I also prefer the wild debauchery tone Jedi Rocks brings to Jabba's Palace. Plus the lyrics are just better.

That one part where it sounds like Sy's singing "He's Muscle Man" just always was groan worthy.

Yeah, it could be the other bald black dude on the Jedi Council.

It was a pickup shot which is why Sam Jackson wasn't around. I could be wrong, but I believe it's Ahmed Best standing in for him. It's distracting, but it happens in movies. Next time you watch Goldfinger, check out the first glimpse of Auric Goldfinger which was from 2nd unit stuff shot in the US(whereas principal photography took place in the UK) and it's clear that ain't Gert Frobe.

What's really annoying about the pickup shots in TPM is that Ewan MacGregor's about 20 lbs heavier in them(and is wearing an obvious wig). And unfortunately I don't know how CGI can fix that.
