They were removed for the 1997 VHS release.

They really have thought of everything with this set.

The Extended Editions of Lord of the Rings were announced not even a year after the theatricals came out and there wasn't even anything "wrong" with those movies.

I'll wait to see how this plays out. I'm not purchasing Star Wars twice.

Wow I find that amusing that you actually care about the stupid star rating on amazon.com. It doesn't bother me that a bunch of idiots with no lives create many accounts to write the same review 20 times each. All you should be concerned about is if the PQ, the audio, and the supplemental features are fantastic and worthy of your blu ray player. My advice to you is that this is probably going to be the only release of Star Wars you see on blu ray you are going to get for a while, so don't hold your breath waiting for different releases.

Those DNR'd shots from The Phantom Menace don't surprise me. It was taken from the digital files which were likely prepared back in 1999. God knows how much technology has progressed since then.

But also consider TPM was shot on film. They filtered it to resemble the other prequels.

The changes that Lucas has made over the years is the equivalent of someone keying your car. On an intellectual level, you know that the car still works, and its only marred a fraction of a percent of the paintjob. On an emotional level, every time you see it, it's all you can focus on, and it makes you want to rip someone's face off.

Thought you might all enjoy it, good analogy.

BINGO - George is all about things looking consistent. Which is a shame.

Some studios heavily DNR films, then apply digital noise (that resembles film grain) to hide the fact that they removed most of the film's natural grain.
thank you

If your car got keyed, it's probably for a reason.

Obviously not all the changes he's done are terrible. Having cardboard cutouts kind of sucks. I can't even remember watching the unaltered movies, was just a kid. Like he hot rid of the wheel on the speeder n' stuff.

But the man's a total fail to implement these added dialogue and cheap effects.

Take the good with the bad I suppose,

Sadly

Putting Jabba the hut in ANH and the nooo, I think does it little more than a fraction of a percent though.

the important difference is that it wouldnt be your but someone else´s car. You can only decide if you want to buy it or not after that someone keyed his own car.
