So, I never really thought about it, but if Lucas really wanted to bend us over (not meaning just the changes and bad transfers) he could have released,

1. Prequel Trilogy
2. Original Trilogy
3. Unaltered Original Trilogy.

I would have purchased all three......

He will release the UOT on BD, because it means that people will buy Star Wars again.
My guess is it will be with an eventual 3D-BD release as a horrid 1080i (low bit-rate) bonus.

A Short I made a while back dealing with the worthlessness of being a fanboy.
It's also upsettingly close to THX-1138…

As I understand it, the only way for the (real) originals to get released on BD would be for the original negatives to be restored. They were in essence restored and converted to the special editions.

I am not sure he will ever go back to do the necessary work that would be required given how stuck he is on this, but never say never I suppose.

Not required, there are tons of good prints that are well maintained that would be used.

That's what I was thinking about. I can practically count the days on my fingers. I'm really exited to hear the audio.

I have been looking forward to Star Wars on bluray since bluray came out. And I will not buy it. I don't need to convince anyone of this fact, it is a personal decision that I will stick to.

Edit: I may eventually buy the prequels if TPM is not too DNRed. But I won't buy right away.
You dont have to convince anyone? Isnt that what your doing now? He has a point im sure a ton of ppl that said there not buying it, still will. Its a fact you will too, unless your only on this forum to bash people and say how much you hate Lucas and blah blah blah

The price is a huge factor as well. An elaborate 9-disc box set in the $100 range isn't going to sell as many units as a high-profile new release in the $20 range, period. Anyone who expects it to is foolish. Even with the changes the Star Wars saga set is the biggest catalog title in the history of the format but it's not gonna break any sales records unless it's outrageously under-priced.

The real comparison will be putting sales up against box sets of Indy, Trek, Bond, Potter, LOTR etc. The only one of those catalog-heavy franchise sets that even has a halfway decent shot at outselling "Star Wars" is HP. I'll even go out on a limb and say "Star Wars" will outsell "Blade Runner" and "Close Encounters" (both of which are alternate-cut friendly and available at much lower prices) COMBINED.

The Lucas haters have 10 more days to pretend that their 500 negative Amazon reviews mean something and then it's gonna be wake-up time. This thing is gonna be huge during the last quarter of the year. There will be plenty of weeks where it's outsold unit-for-unit by high-profile new releases but it's gonna hang in there with steady $100 sales for months.

The screenshots may lie, the video does not. Some space scenes and Bespin even have DNR and EE. I had very high expectations of this release in terms of video quality, which it does not meet. But that's me and my setup. On smaller displays, and for most of the consumers its probably going to be good. For those that only know the DVDs it might even be stellar.

But is the video that much better that it warrants a 4th purchase in 15 years for another inadequate job? No.

This was the version with the mono mix---the same version that was used as a source for clips in the 1977 documentary.

And low and behold---just as the film cuts from Alderaan being blown up to "training onboard the falcon" .

What colour is Luke's saber?

See the resembalance?

Learn to enjoy the 2004 DVD mate.

Now you're resorting to lies to try and prove a point. The sign of defeat. Just like last month. No home video or theatrical version shows that scene having a green saber. None, until 2004. Not the '82 VHS or anything beyond that. Even in my old VHS recording from '84 of Star Wars premiere on network TV in the US, the saber in that shot is blue-white. Not green. I love how you invented the "fact" of what was used as the source for the documentary. It was a test shot to show an example of how lightsabers were done. Duh.

Learn to enjoy the 2004 DVD's? You mean the same ones that even Lucasfilm admitted contained many lightsaber flaws that occurred in the 2004 transfer? The same transfer that you deny screwed up the lightsabers throughout the films. Lucasfilm admits they were screwed up in the transfer to DVD. Who should we believe? LFL that admits the screwup in '04, or you, a hapless internet "debater" who continually denies the truth in order to troll message boards? Pretty easy answer. Read this quote:

"A perfect example is in 2004 with the light sabers, how in the original trilogy all of the light sabers sort of dimmed, you lost that really hot, white core. Well, we went back and wanted to really be true to the original intention of the films, so we brightened up the light saber colors and we brought back that hot, white core that was original to the film."

Source? Lucasfilm at their recent presentation:

Done mate. I still can't believe I wasted so much time, just like last month, arguing with someone who invents stories and "facts". I guess I'm the fool who follows him.

I'm sorry if this is too off topic, but can any one on here insert this picture of George laughing:

into the space where R2-D2 is hiding in the bottom right picture?:

Another reason for the lack of questions between Vader and Obi-Wan in the Star Wars duel is that, after the release of Star Wars into theaters in 1977, Lucas still didn't know who Darth Vader was yet. He hadn't decided if Vader was Anakin or Anakin's killer.
