And that's why "From Star Wars to Jedi" was the only one of the four vintage documentaries not included in the BD set's bonus features. There's no amount of modern Lucas revisionism that can undo the contemporary interviews.

Even with the changes the Star Wars saga set is the biggest catalog title in the history of the format but it's not gonna break any sales records unless it's outrageously under-priced.

The real comparison will be putting sales up against box sets of Indy, Trek, Bond, Potter, LOTR etc. The only one of those catalog-heavy franchise sets that even has a halfway decent shot at outselling "Star Wars" is HP. I'll even go out on a limb and say "Star Wars" will outsell "Blade Runner" and "Close Encounters" (both of which are alternate-cut friendly and available at much lower prices) COMBINED.

The Lucas haters have 10 more days to pretend that their 500 negative Amazon reviews mean something and then it's gonna be wake-up time. This thing is gonna be huge during the last quarter of the year. There will be plenty of weeks where it's outsold unit-for-unit by high-profile new releases but it's gonna hang in there with steady $100 sales for months.
I agree with you on the pricing. It will pick up steam around Black Friday and closer to Christmas time. I'm waiting on some actual reivews before I decide whether or not I will get the movies.

Exactly. This thing is gonna be scooped up by parents and grandparents en masse so they can pass on the "real" Star Wars to their Clone Wars-watching kids/grandkids.

These are the people who don't know or don't care about the changes. Furthermore, I have a feeling that more than a few of the boycotters are counting on receiving it as a gift during the Holidays, thus preserving their stubborn self-righteousness.

I mean, hey, going on record saying they'd rather die than spend one red cent on this thing doesn't mean they don't want their Gammy to buy it for them for Christmas, amirite?

Man.... the conspiracy theories are getting wild in here.

Just look at the contents of the set. They pretty much didn't carry over any previous extras.

No "The Beginning....", No "Empire Of Dreams", No "Deleted Scenes from the previous DVDs of TPM, AotC, or RotS".

And the From Star Wars To Jedi documentary was included in the VHS Boxset back in the day.

The stuff talked about in that documentary is referred to in other extras on the set. So that's really balderdash.

Are you feeling okay, Beast? This is not the BR.com poster I have come to know.

On an unrelated note: Even though I am an UOT fanboy and and avid prequel hater, I have to admit that the PQ of some of these initial screen grabs of the prequel trilogy do indeed look excellent. Great news for all the prequel fans.

The fact that people are expecting an expensive 6 film box set of CATALOG titles to outperform a new release title is just absurd. Both are huge established franchises.

BD is not a niche format anymore. It moved into mainstream status earlier this year. Marketing 101.

Do you want to make a wager which will sell more units? I will gladly take Star Wars over "first class" (which is a darn good movie)......

Shhhh. I'm trying to be good. Or they'll come and wish me into the Cornfield again.

But to be serious... life is far too short to get angry or bicker over a movie. Accentuate the positive!

yeah, that's not an option in the poll, and it should be, besides the option to change your answer(s)

It's called "Malaysia Day". It's a historical thing, where more states join the nation, sort of like a "sequel" to our own independence day. Never looked forward to this date before, but this year I'm actually excited for it thanks to the Star Wars blu-ray.

You're right, there might be those who's getting both separate trilogies (don't ask me why, artwork maybe?). That could work with a multiple choice poll, which I think will better represent the intentions.

Paying basically the same price and missing out on the fantastic extras would be kinda silly, IMHO.
