Surely that must be fake?!

Anyways does anyone else feel that Episode 1 sticks out? 2 and 3 are seems like they are connected. Episode 1 seems like it stands on it's own with the more kid friendly mood and the annoying Anakin kid.

Also not much that happens in Episode 1 has an impact for the rest of the movies except for the Jedis finding Anakin. But Episode 1 seems like it could have been told in a flashback in Episode 2 or even just be mentioned in dialogue.
It feels that way, but the film is definitely more than just the Jedi finding Anakin. It is also about Palpatine orchestrating the conflicts which led to the Clone Wars.

It isn't. Anyone that has the BD, feel free to look it up, the shot is at 01:34:31. I did.

But the TPM BD definitely looks more good than bad. The instances of DNR didn't do much harm to my viewing experience.

Any chance you've looked for the easter eggs in this set?

Hi everyone.

I've been lurking in the wings for quite some time reading everyone's thoughts about the Star Wars Blu ray releases and I've finally decided to add my opinion to the discussion.

Like many of you, Star Wars was a huge deal in my life. I was 8 in '77. I grew up obsessing on the movies and comics and toys and so forth. I still remember what a thrill it was to buy the OT on VHS and to be able to watch them as often as I wanted! Now so many years later I feel super excited to be able to own all six of them on Blu-Ray.

Now, I'm not throwing stones because I firmly believe everyone is entitled to see things his or her own way-but I just can't wrap my brain around the unbridled hatred for the special editions and this last go round of "tweaks". The dragon call Obi wan uses to scare the sand people doesn't even make me shrug. I can't say that I care how it sounds. Artoo hiding behind a few cgi rocks? Doesn't seem any worse to me than him suddenly having jets in his legs in the prequel trilogy. Blinking Ewoks seem no more or less "real" to me than when they didn't blink. Darth Vader yelling No NOOOOOO while pitching the emperor down a power shaft hasn't rocked my world in the least.

These films were created to entertain the kid in all of us no matter what our age. It's too bad that a few cgi'd rocks or an extra NOooOoOo has taken that fun and adventure away from some of you guys.

I didn't notice any on the movie discs. But the menus on the two first bonus discs are so intricate, there's like a million of them, so good luck to anyone looking for easter eggs.

On the movie discs, the menu itself is static at the bottom of the screen, while there are selective scenes from the film playing in the background.

Thanks crs! It's very nice to have inputs from someone who actually have the blu-ray. And not being a fan of Star Wars your opinion matters more to me, some fans (myself included) could be biased on the PQ/AQ because of their personal feeling to the saga.

I totally agree. It really is a shame that they had to take the fun away with just a few CG rocks and an extra "Noooo!"

Regarding the extras, how about these:

Star Wars Spoofs (2011, Color, Apx. 91 Minutes) - The farce is strong with this one! Enjoy a hilarious collection of Star Wars spoofs and parodies that have been created over the years, including outrageous clips from Family Guy, The Simpsons, How I Met Your Mother and more - and don't miss "Weird Al" Yankovic's one-of-a-kind music video tribute to The Phantom Menace!

and:

Star Warriors (2007, Color, Apx. 84 Minutes) - Some Star Wars fans want to collect action figures - these fans want to be action figures! A tribute to the 501st Legion, a global organization of Star Wars costume enthusiasts, this insightful documentary shows how the super-fan club promotes interest in the films through charity and volunteer work at fundraisers and high-profile special events around the world.

I can understand 30-40 minutes dedicated to both segments, but almost 180 minutes ...!? talk about time filler...

Indeed. I'm sure you can selectively pick screenshots with the worst instances of DNR from the TPM BD, and say t"he PQ looks like crap, I'm not buying it". Or you can pick the best screenshots, and say "the PQ is great, this is a must have". But the truth is somewhere in the middle. As more people get the BD, I think it will be revealed. I'm just a casual Star Wars viewer, and I enjoyed TPM, not being too hung up in the PQ. But if you're looking for flaws, you'll find them, though I doubt you'll enjoy the movie much. Those that hate the movie will certainly find flaws to pick at.

The English DD 5.1 track is an audio descriptive track, not the movie audio.

The fan-hysteria has warped the perception of what's going on over the years. The latest editions are not somehow inferiour but refined editions of the movies that stayed the same at the core. Even the most controversial changes like "Han and Greedo shooting at the same time", "Hayden in RotJ" and "Nooo!" are at best as good or bad than before. Han is the best shot either way and defeats Greedo in the Standoff, Anakin is redeemed and lives on in the force either way and Vader kills the Emperor either way - it just resonates a bit more with the established character.

I gurantee that when you just sit back and enjoy the movies on BluRay with an open mind you will be blown away! Someone wrote in here (while i was suspended) that "if you love something you want it to never ever change". I remember that phrase quite differently: If you love something you have to set it free and it is most likely to return to you.

This is supposed to be a difference between the DVD and Blu-ray of The Phantom Menace:

[Show spoiler]

I must admit my memory of TPM isn't that good; is it indeed a difference or just two different but similar-looking frames?

Edit
When I saw it I assumed whoever grabbed them got the wrong frames, but now that I check, they changed that shot completely.
