And we thought TPM Yoda was messed up. Although the picture below isn't too bad.

Yaddle is Hawt. There I said it. Female Yoda? Not bad at all. Plus the E1 puppet of her at least looks half decent.

And it's a loaded question. You just want people to admit that they'll buy it because it's SW. But in this case they're not buying a poorly released product.

When I spend the 79.99 come next Friday, I can't imagine the set not giving me my moneys worth. It will be even more of a treat to show them to my Niece for the first time, and not use an outdated Laserdisc like some fanatics still do. Add the fact that I've managed to sell my 2006 DVDs (The ones with the UOT) for around 30 each means the Complete Saga has already been paid for from previous versions.
So if the OT looks quite stunning, is it still the same oversaturated color timing as the dvd's?

Yes that's what I was saying earlier its a shame everybody just accepts it, and what has been done to ANH is alot more than a "few" scenes. The movie has been changed drastically, and the scene messed up in jedi, is maybe the most important scene in all of Star wars. So don't just play it off like its minor.

But some do consider it minor. I don't mind the "No.... Nooooo" at all. It simply emphasizes Vader's rekindled humanity.

I also like it from the standpoint of the recurring themes elements present in the Saga. It certainly doesn't ruin the scene for me.

Same with all the changes to ANH. When watching the original cuts of ANH and ESB back to back, ANH really stands out as being lesser.

The changes that have been done to it really have at least put it on the same level as ESB and RotJ to me. It no longer sticks out like a sore thumb.

So is it too much to ask for the climactic scene to the entire OT not be ruined by a cheesy, pointless dialogue addition? I wanted to buy these blu-rays in the worst way, but that just sh#ts the bed and does in fact ruin the entire OT for me. While watching it i'll know it's coming. God knows what else was inserted/changed that hasn't even been reported yet. I don't think it's narrow minded to just not want cheesy PT dialogue b-rolls be shoe-horned into the OT.

Yeah, I'm the one who posted over on theforcw.net and again I don't this is a DNR issue at all. TPM Is just an intentionally softer looking film. I would like to see more screen grabs from like the Palpatine/Maul balcony scene or on the Trade Federation ship as most of those scenes are lit completely differently than the Naboo and Tatooine scenes.

Secondly there would be no reason to DNR the film to make it more consistent with the prequels since AOTC looked suitably sharp enough and film-like when I saw it digitally projected back in 2002. Additionally, by the time of ROTS the images from Sony's digital cameras had become indistinguishable from film. There would be no reason to try to "match" the look of the films.

Another apparent deal breaker.
You mean instead Lucas should have CHANGED the deleted scenes to add the backgrounds, etc. even though it was decided early on that these scenese wouldn't be in the movies?

But a soft looking film would still retain visible facial features, but just mist them through soft focus. What we are seeing is complete smoothing. Check my previous posts regarding the Qui Gon screen captures. In one he has strong visible wrinkles around his eyes, in others they are completely smooth. The detail is in the shot (individual hairs, moles on Ewans forehead) but absolutely no imperfections or pores. DNR is the only explanation as it is applied more heavily in some scenes than others to remove grain. Any well lit shots, the actors retain their facial imperfections as grain would have been reduced in the actual film due to light.

If the delivery and execution of the first "No" sounded genuine and meaningfull, it might have been accepted by the fans but as it currently stands, it sounds comical and makes that scene like a youtube hack.

More than double the resolution isn't enough? Weird.

They were upset as he HAD done just that on the prequel DVD's. The expectation was he might repeat the process for blu.

Right, I could see the 'they were only shot in 1080p' argument making more sense if they were getting released on a format with a 2k or 4k resolution, but not here. You're only getting the other 4 movies in 1080p here too, so...the upgrade should be sizable across the set.

I said that cause someone was on here earlier going on about how he was cancelling his pre-order because of the fact that some deleted scenes still had the green screen

Those screenshots didn't show remarkably more detail than my DVDs.

While it would have been cool if he finished all of the deleted scenes... It's not a big deal.

He'd never released deleted scenes before back when TPM was released on DVD. So he was experimenting.

The Phantom Menace's DVD really is exceptional even to this day. Especially for the Documentary.
