In Return of the Jedi, what if George Lucas decided that Princess Leia's sexy metal bikini was way too revealing and inappropriate for the younger viewers and covered her up in a digital shirt, or a dress?

Would you all still buy the OT on Blu-Ray, or would all hell break lose??
Personally, I've long thought that outfit was inappropriate, ever since I was old enough to understand the meaning of it. I mean, some of Jabba's other slave girls are wearing more than Carrie in that part of the film. It doesn't make much sense. Plus, I think its the only time in the whole saga we see a woman in something that revealing, so its inconsistent as well.

Look, don't give him (GL) any ideas. I'm surprised he hasn't coverd Oola the slave girl that gets fed to the Rancor since she's only wearing a fishnet top.

It doesn't reveal anything. Seriously this is borderline prudish. I don't mean to be an ass but come on. The designers themselves said they wanted to show Leia was growing up and maturing. It succeeded. Not too mention plenty of fanasty stories have a damsel in skimpy clothes at some point ROTJ is true to its roots.

Meh, there are plenty of plausible explanations why a 14-year old might get elected.

For instance, eligible candidates for the election might only come from a small pool of people with royal lineage. Padme was elected as a Queen after all, not as a president. If you only have a handful of eligible candidates for Queen, it wouldn't be surprising if a 14-year old was somehow elected.

Padme says in AOTC that she chose politics. She was someone who chose it. She wasn't born into it. She also studied in the senate first. If there was a limited number of people elligible for the leadership she would have been forced. Lucas modeled their system after Americas but changed the title of Presisent to King/Queen to make it different. What you call the leader isn't important anyways. At one time some in congress thought of calling the executive office of America king/queen. Just because she is called queen doesn't make her special especially considering they are a democracy as is stated in TPM. Its just a title. She is a normal child elected to rule.

Didn't see if this was answered or not, but did the sudden appearing tie-fighter in Jedi get fixed? Or Luke's phantom kick? Just a random couple. Seems like they were too busy mucking up some stuff, they didn't even try and correct the actual technical issues.

Somebody explain to me what this means.

Does this mean that all TVs will be adjusted to have the same settings, even though each TV is independent and none should be calibrated to the same settings?

I'm so confused....

Wth is a media director??

Any bluray that automatically calibrates my tv isn't going anywhere near my bluray player.

Please.

I'm not up to date on feminist scholarship but I believe the technical term for that is 'bullshit'.

That seems to be there intent. Ignore the problems that are there and create new ones, because it's their "right" and dammit because they can!

Leia's bikini being "iconic" means nothing to Lucas, his Yes Men, or his fanbase. The character in my avatar is also iconic yet there have been several members of this forum calling for his digital replacement. I'd say Vader's redemption scene was also very iconic. There is no sacred ground here.

I googled it. It sounds absolutely insipid and to me seems like just another way to get control out of the viewers. It'd work great if people were technically incompetent - but all of us here aren't.

Well, with Padme dead, perhaps Yoda and Obi-Wan would have taken it upon themselves to name the babies. Or maybe their adoptive parents would just name them, which make sense too.

And the whole thing about Leia having memories of her mother is just another one of Lucas's messups. At this point in time, people have just accepted that Leia's probably referring to her adoptive mother.
Uh, didn't Padme herself already name the babies as she was giving birth? She was muttering their names as each one was delivered.

The UOT was in surround sound. The 2006 bonus DVD's were just ports of a '93 laserdisc. There are some changes on those discs that were not in their UOT form, therefore, they are not the UOT. Still nice to have for comparison.

Tired of sweating over trying to make the Star Wars blu-ray look good on your tv?

Well, thankfully, along comes this crazy fully-automated crap!

Why couldn't they just have included a brand new THX Optomizer, specifically created for blu-ray?

I was just talking about some differences that would occur if I were to write ROTS. Check out some of my previous comments for clarification.
