Yeah, effects seem to dominate the music. I am conscious that I am filling in bits of music from memory because they are drowned out. The sandcrawler scene just showed that to me.

I know you probably think I'm just *****ing again but John Williams and his score are what got me into film music. I now have hundreds of soundtrack CD's. I cried the first time I heard John conduct it live. It just really irritates me that it's not a balanced mix. The SE's changed all that.

I think the audio changes are probably more egregious to me than any of the visual ones.

Not at all, I am noticing it missing from my childhood memory of how it used to be.

As the most requests have been about yoda and Qui Gon scene:

Slide intro

In the script, Yoda makes contact with Qui-Gon Jinn from beyond the grave; Qui-Gon then teaches yoda the secret of becoming one with the force. This was cut early enough that Liam Neeson never recorded the dialogue, so only a temporary voiceover exists.

[Show spoiler]It shows a crude Yoda model (no finished textures) sitting on a small chair looking out of a viewport at an asteroid field.

Qui-Gon: When I became one with the force, I made a great discovery. With my training, you will learn to merge with the force at will. Your physical self will fade away, but you will still retain your consciousness. You will become more powerful than any jedi could imagine.

Bail Organa: Excuse me master Yoda, Obi wan kenobi has made contact.

The voice is a deep American one and sounds like the face of Bo LOL.

I can confirm the original PT DVD deleted scenes are not on the set (unless easter eggs, but I doubt it).

It is there, but quiet. I did notice it missing when the door bursts open with the stormtroopers as the music was timed perfectly there. Almost non-existant here. Back again on Darh's arrival but very quiet again.

Sounds like bad news on the music front again. Music has always been a focal point of Star Wars and drowning it out makes no sense.

Thanks again for checking Merlin.

In terms of good/bad acting, especially in the PT, can be easily summed up this way...

British actors = good performances

American actors = bad performances

Even Ewan McGregor (Scottish? lol) had some horrible line deliveries as well. The only actor who had the least 'cheese' was Ian McDiarmid by far.

Ian is absolutely sublime. Palpatine is my favourite character because of him, he's a joy to watch.

the Boba Fett first look IS the holiday special cartoon, the complete version of it.

OT bonus disc, Imperial fleet, the collection, Boba Fett prototype costume and then in the menu under first look.

Don't think there is anything else from the Holiday special.

Intro slide:

Originally introduced as the first new action figure from the empire strikes back - nearly two years before the films release - Boba Fett's screen debut was not aboard Vader's Star destroyer in episode V, but in an animated sequence from the 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special.

Spike showed both trilogies a lot this summer. I kept catching bits and pieces of the PT (and remembering why I wasn't a huge fan of them) but Palpatine's parts always blow me away. Just shows how much of a high quality actor he is.

I have a hard time watching Palpy in ROTS. He just hams it up way to much. I LOL at some of the faces he makes while fighting the Jedi. I preferred his more restrained performance in ROTJ.

Good to see the totally inane and irrelevant conversations continue even when someone can give you access to the disc contents.

That's me done. Grab something to eat, finish off my work and then settle down for Star Wars marathon. Starting at..........Episode 1

I've been lingering around this forum and figured I'd finally make a post. A good friend of mine is a GM at major electronics store and he brought over a few of his discs last night. We only skimmed through a few of them (sorry NFL opening night!). I have to agree with merlinpants, the sound is freaking awesome!!!! Now I'm no audiophile, but one of the scenes we watched was the sarlac scene in RoTJ. And when Jabba's barge blew the bass rattled my walls!!! It seriously sounded like a jet was going over the roof of my house. The lossless sound terrific! I may pick it up on that basis alone.

One question:Is it as sharp as we like, and is the fly-over the deathstar as awesome in ANH as I remember it as-or as awesome as the SE at the cinemas in the mid 90's?

IF they are they are easter eggs and damn near impossible to find. I have tried for ages, but can find nothing. Even the blasted 1138 code entry doesn't seem to do anything.

You choose to watch NFL over SW when having a BD copy?Think you will receive flak on that one here-and deservedly so

It is crystal clear, sharp as you like and the effects awesome. The music is a little drowned out for my liking on all films, but perhaps it has always been that way and the new technology makes it more obvious. I am no expert, I will leave that to others.
