No, the icing on the cake would have been George Lucas putting all of his various versions of the OT in this set instead of once again wasting more time and money (that he doesn't have to clean up the OT) to add a whole bunch of newer tweaks that really were unnecessary.

To be fair, if he put every version of the films on the set....

It would likely be a 15 Disc Set. If not larger. And would probably be nearly $200.00.

I paid more for the Alien films (And two of those are worse than the prequel trilogy) and more for the LOTR set. 80 bucks is a steal for all 6 films and the bonus discs.

And look how long it took for individual releases for the films last time. Might not happen until the 3-D versions.
Agreed. There is a ton of overall content in terms of six movies (with overall good PQ and AQ) and extras. A LOT of value if you like Star Wars.

Not if he went the seamless branching route.

That wouldn't work because the color timing is different between the originals and current versions.

What makes a reviewer a "professional?"
That the are paid, have a website or that they agree with your assessment of the movies?

It would if all versions were set with the correct color timing. Then it would only be a matter of adding the various minor changes to each edit.

Now that Amazon dropped to price to 79.99..I'm hoping they will drop my order down to 69.99... When I preordered it was 89.99 and I used a $10 promo code from them to bring it down to 79.99...

As Lucas has said before, the originals don't exist anymore. When they went back to restore and update the film, the original negative was changed. So when he says the original versions don't exist, that's what he means.

This has been posted already but I'll post it again...

They could easily be reconstituted with extant sources. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for his death (if not longer) for that to happen.

Be careful what you believe from "official" sources or in this case the man himself. Sure, it's your choice to blindly believe, but there are those who have seen enough greed and corruption to know better.

Their ad shows it as $89.99 and comes with a free Vader t-shirt. Don't know what the shirt look like but wouldn't it be classic if vader was saying "Nooooooo"!
