I'm looking forward to checking out the AOTC and ROTS blu-rays later on today and shedding some light on their PQ. Somebody has to. I would personally take anything these Lucas apologists say regarding these releases with a large grain of salt at this point.
To be fair all Merlinpants has done is give us his opinions of the boxsets picture quality, and just like all reviews it's based on that persons point of view.

But of course because his opinions are not what the Lucas haters want to hear then they are ignored,or in some way discredited by people asking how close he sits to his t.v etc.

Now of course you want to make up your own mind just as I do,but in the end of the day I value his opinion just as I wood any members negative comments on the sets picture quality.

I'm pretty sure that they will match their online price in the store.

I've got to say that those look very nice. I'm sure this would have had even more detail though if it had been shot using film stock. Anybody know why George Lucas decided to shoot the second and third film of the Prequel Trilogy on digital? Is it simply cheaper or was there some other technical reason?

So this is really no surprise to see it creep into some Star Wars movies.

I just shudder to think how 'The Hobbit' is going to end up looking.

Yoda certainly doesn't seem happy about the change, that's for sure. Someone should do a similar animation of Gandalf showing his disapproval at the green tint in the fotr ee blu-ray.

I'd forgotten just how bad that blue tint looks when added to the swamp in Empire Strikes Back. All the other scenes in the film fair a lot better IMHO.

I was just trying to urge everyone to play nice.

Mild DNR does not really piss me off that bad, but I would much rather just have lots of grain and even scratches and dirt on the transfer instead. I actually like film grain, and don't mind little scratches and dirt too much. I think it makes it look more film-like(the film grain, not the dirt).

Well,

The box sets are out in Mexico, the 3 of them.

I can confirm the (dreaded) audio changes as well as the new CGi Yoda.

I got the complete saga yesterday and regardless of how good or bad some of the movies are, they are reference material.

So far I have seen only Star Wars, Phantom Menace and midway through Attack of the clones.

The audio is DTS HD Master 6.1, all speakers get worked in a terrific way, especially the subs... they simply don't stop rumbling at all! The lightsaber duels simply sound spectacular you can feel the lightsabers cutting through you. In the star fights , you feel the blasts coming to you from every angle.

Picture quality looks amazing in the first two movies and there is a great enhancement in the original Episode IV.

I will keep watching over the weekend to give you guys more impressions.

Still, no THX or audio enhancement or picture quality can save us from the bad acting Anakin delivers....

My setup:

Oppo BDP 93
Yamaha RX-Z11
Monitor Audio RX Silver HT Speakers
2xDefinitive Prosub 100
Samsung LED UNC55

A slight shift in color of the entire image to a "blue" or "teal" palate, it seems that a lot of movies nowadays have a very pronounced "Teal" shift to them.
