I think its fascinating that as a younger man, he would play as Palpatine and 16 years later, he would reprise the role playing a younger version of the character even though he himself had gotten older!

Hmm I might watch it

Do it! Great documentary. It's just too bad it's not on the Blus.

I would have loved it had the set included all the old material and the new material as well, even if it took an extra disc or two (although one should have been all that was necessary).

That notion thrilled me to no end back when the prequels were coming out (especially back before Episode I came out). I always thought Ian McDiarmid must have gotten a real kick out of that.

That sure was a real stroke of genius casting him for RotJ.

My Dad took me to see The Shining, Dawn of the Dead and Fulci's City of the Living Dead in 1980 when I was 13 with no ill effects. He pretty much took me to any movie I ask him about except one...The Exorcist. I was only 6 at the time. I think that was a good call on his part. He went to see it first without me then sat down with me and told me there were certain scenes that were too graphic for young children. Did see Jaws the following year though.

I would think all the SW films are suitable for ALL ages these days. Even Disney films have death and murder. Look at Bambi.

Especially when he finally gets to wield a saber!

On another note, I have to wonder the idea of swarming the boxset with negative reviews on amazon. The 4-6 set still has an alright rating and the PT trilogy set is the highest rated...thats a wonderful twist.

I spent $22 on the DVD box set just for the bonus disc that has EOD. It was totally worth it.

I also loved the censored TV versions of Alien/s and Predator (especially Predator...had many toys as well)
Oh man I loved all the toys for that stuff I remember when I was 3 I would get the Aliens toys and play with them while I'd watch the movie with my dad. I do remember the one and only time I repeated a curse word from the movie my dad yelled at me lol.

Still, its nowhere near as bad as FOTR EE, thankfully.

This particular shot of the color-shift (if it is actually a change... and not just the result of the better and more true scan), is an IMPROVEMENT!!! I like. This shot feels more naturally colored.

I agree. The Homestead Dome and desert looks way too "Orange" in the HDTV version. It's almost flesh colored.

I also think Kamino looks much more natural with the teal tint over the harsh blue as well.

90% of the time, I don't notice these changes in motion anyways. Since AOTC is my least favourite in the series, it's gotten very little time in the DVD player in the past several years and will probably get very little time in the PS3. I doubt I'll even remember what it looked like on DVD next weekend.

I bought the LOTR set and watched FOTR and saw no green tint and I looked for it. How could I not after all the crap online. I cancelled my Saga set . I have all the versions I need of those films.
Screen caps take EXACTLY what is on the BD and capture it with no manipulation of any kind. The reason things look different "in motion" as every apologist is so fond of saying, is because your eyes adjust and find a relative color palette that mirrors what you're used to seeing.

If you didn't see green tint in FOTR then you just can't see these things, but it's there, no question about it.

Listening to folks who have the BDs is a wonderful idea, except I trust the opinion of total strangers, particularly fervent fanboy strangers who've said nothing but "I can't wait to see Star Wars The Complete Saga in glorious 1080p HD with 6.1 DTS HD Master audio on September 16th!" for weeks, about as much as I trust pants made of Jello.

Some people were convinced they were going to love everything about this set the second it was announced, and have done nothing but make excuses for every reasonable complaint against it, so it's pretty hard to take what they say seriously or have any expectation that their opinion will be even remotely objective.

In the end I'll need to see it for myself, but if there isn't a teal shift in AOTC (regardless of whether Joe Sixpack can see it or not) I will eat a bag of nails. You heard it here first.

I'm fine with backing off the contrast, but teal has no place in a desert.

Kamino maybe. But there is no time of the day that teal shoud show up on a desert planet.

But hey, at least the white's aren't clipping.

Already over 31k. Thankfully, the release is in five days and things will settle down after that . For sure this thread will be very busy next week as the reviews start to come out and the members get their sets (the ones buying). Anyways, Fox is usually slow in getting the screeners to the sites (fyi). It should be a fun week .

Both Trilogies will be barebones.
