4:3 aspect ratio, most are SD (obviously) and look not much better than a VHS. Not too disappointed as they're old and it would have took an age to convert them all to HD.

well since now they're saying they may not even do all 6 movies in 3D, i dont see that happening. They may only do Episode 1, or only the prequels. They've changed to a "we'll see how they do" attitude.

Okay so Futureshop has the 79.99$ offer expiring on Sept 18th! Sweet!

I guess you couldn't really tell that I was being tongue-in-cheek there.

But *not* mocking the people frustrated with this release ... I think there's far too much of that going on already. And frankly, I'm really tired of people on this thread who can't make a positive comment about the release (which they're completely entitled to do, of course) without gratuitously throwing names or personal slurs at people who want to note with frustration the faults in the release (which they're also completely entitled to do).

It's really tiring. And honestly, to my non-partisan perception, the people who are being most "hateful" are actually the ones calling other people haters. (Such a stupid, stupid use of language!)

So I'm not having a shot at you, mate, but all I did was make the same kind of joke but in the opposite direction, in some feeble attempt to redress the balance. (Life isn't fair, but that doesn't mean we can't try to be.) Your chiming in with a negative and emotive response like that was a bit predictable, and starts to look kinda obsessive, you know?

Combine that with the premise that one of the points of BD was to get a 1:1 encoding/display ratio to eliminate aliasing distortions, and that's why anamorphic BDs are a bad idea.

There's a hierarchy of delusional people that I like to refer to at times like this:

1) People who are legitimately mentally-ill
2) Cult members
3) Hard-core PT/SE fans aka Geore Lucas apologists
4) Ancient alien theorists
5) Flat-Earth proponents

The packaging by the way is beautiful. Don't listen to the childish comments about the painting look like a child did it etc... Disc holders a very strong/sturdy too, glad I got this version.

I remember seeing this on the internet about 5 years ago. It's definitely fake. Alderaan did not have any major weapons of any kind anyway.

That's not new. They've said from the very beginning that it depends on the box office performance of each release.

Considering that they're starting their 3D efforts on the one film that has the worst reputation and smallest fanbase, I don't think they should plan on starting work on Episode II any time soon...

Default Wait For The Ultimate Edition!

Boy after reading a few reviews of the new blu ray release of the Star Wars films I think I will pass on waisting my money (just quite yet) and hold off for the Ultimate Collection! Knowing Lucas I am sure he is already working on another Blu Ray release (times are hard and there ain't much cash coming in these days) due to his inability to actually make good movies! Lucas struck gold once (ok twice) though his involvement in Empire Strikes Back was minimal. The first two movies are classics (no doubt) so please make them look like classics on Blu Ray. Forget the other trash you call movies and do a good job. Talk to Peter Jackson or Steven Speilberg on how to make your movies look great on Blu Ray then release them!

To each his own, personally in my setup I would LOVE to have the anamorphic capability built into Blu Ray. So posters informing me that it isn't needed in Blu Ray and I need to read up on it when my signature says I have an anamorphic setup with a 2.37 screen is kind of stupid. Yes it is an "ultra-niche" product, but I remember when 16x9 was an "ultra-niche" product.

BTW, how can you not believe in ancient alien theory......
