Or, if I ask 4 people if they like Star Wars, and 3 of them said no, I should go around saying that 75% of the people hate Star Wars.

Big picture, man, big picture.
It's called a poll? Ever heard of them? You know, they use them to get a close approximate statistic on the probable answer.

You can not deny that the out cry on the dissatisfaction of the blu-ray release is a roar and not a whimper from a large base of fans.

Yeah, that is a pretty comparable scenario.

The point is that the field "opened up" on a pattern. Obi-wan was running to catch up and the last aspect of it "closed" before he could reach it.

But he was running like you and I could run... and the opening scenes showed that Jedi could zip around at hyperspeeds when the need to. Seems like that little trick would have come in handy right about then.

It's a weakness in the screenplay. Not the end of the world. It happens. But just one of dozens of examples where a script doctor or even a second pass on the screenplay would have been beneficial.

(Note: I remember reading that at one point in an early draft of Roger Rabbit, there was a scene where Roger went "flat/2-dimensional" and slipped under a door. The cut it out of the script because there were about six other places in the story where he was in danger, but could have escaped by going flat. If you're going to introduce something... you need to make sure that it's consistent with the rest of your story. That's screenwriting 101.)

I don't remember if my local BB was open at midnight for LOTR. I doubt it and it will not be open for SW.

The employee at the front door knows me since I frequent the store and he rather doubted any catalog title going to BD ever caused the store to remain open through midnight though he wasn't certain of past experiences.

I didn't check Target but I doubt they would be either. I'm going there first on release day and then to BB later on. I don't care about the cel at BB or I would have preordered the set when the offer was first made available.

Fixing only select shots of lightsabers and ignoring others... adding lines to the climatic moment of Jedi that parallels one of the most mocked PT lines... I can't help but think he is getting a huge kick out of all this and laughing all the way to the bank.

A poll, no. What's that??

260+ people out of the millions who probably don't care about the changes is not a big deal. Trust me. Half of THOSE people will probably still buy it anyway. They like coming on the internet to cry and then when nobody cares at the end of the day, they'll go and watch their copies.

Think of all the people born after the OT was released who don't even know, or won't even realize there were changes made. Poll them, why don't ya.

Yes, after seeing that scene again from the dude who just posted the funny "What if..." clip, I remember the timing of the electricity now. Perhaps it can be best explained (to set some minds at ease, perhaps) that Obi Wan thought he would make it since he was basically running and not just jogging out an infield pop-up.

And don't even believe for a second that George Lucas would ever follow a basic Screenwriting 101 tip...these are HIS movies, dude!!

if anyone cares:
source DVDTown

As the week of STAR WARS begins we have the first tidbit of news regarding the Blu-ray release.

The US Editions of the STAR WARS Blu-ray sets have all been confirmed region free.

So, if you have a non-region A player and prefer the US editions you should not worry.

It's just an even smaller microcosm of the poll already presented on here, with a different question, of course.

On a forum such as this, where people will come just to bash something they don't agree with, those are the poeple that make sure and vote. Hell, I'd even bet that they would find a way to do it more than once.

Me, I will buy the set, and I don't care about the changes, and I haven't even voted. I'm sure there are many like me who haven't had the desire to participate.

I think that idea is complete bull....and yet, I hear it all the time from posters who have larger displays than the average customer.
We aren't all created equal. I'm just glad I'm not one of those people with inferior genetics when it comes to my vision.

Then again, they can just save money and watch videos on youtube. Its all the same to them

Yeah, I'm considering importing the UK version rather than the lame US packaging.

Default Why I'm Buying ...

I was the with my good buddies in 77 when I saw Star Wars on the big screen .. WOW! We were all blown away, the very next day I took my girlfriend (future wife ) to see it at a local smaller theater. It wasn't good enough so I took her to see it again at the original big screen, WOW! again. I have enjoyed these films many times. My son came along and his first big screen experience with me was at that same big screen theater of my youth but this was the 97 versions. We had a blast pointing out what had changed from the original and still said WOW! Now he's graduating college and we can't wait for the latest hidef release this Friday. We will watch this weekend and I promise there will be many WOWS!

Pick the one that agrees with your POV to have some ammo for your justification to buy or not buy.

A pair of reviews with two contrasting views on picture/audio quality.
