That's what I have never understood about people that get so mad about the changes they make. I mean, yes, it would be nice if they included the original too but if I can get 99% of the original and with an amazing picture/sound quality I would take that over a DVD of the untouched.

But that's just me.. I am not as picky. I am a big fan though

I hope it's the former but either way, I certainly hope they at least go back to the original color timing/contrast of the theatrical versions.

Here's what George Lucas had to say about it last fall:

“We’ve been working on them(new BD set) for quite a while,” Mr. Lucas said, “but still, there are pipelines. Unfortunately, the recent releases get priority over what we call the classic versions of things.”

Take that statement as you will. I take it as hope. Others may take it as nothing more than lip service that Lucas gave a reporter.
Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I do think the "classics" will probably be released on BD one day, but in what form/source really remains the question.

Mine changed to "shipping soon" Tuesday afternoon and I got an e-mail a few hours ago that it had shipped. Estimated delivery of September 15th by the end of the day.

Or you could take it as Lucas talking about the workflow of a busy graphics company-for-hire, explaining -- as he has on other occasions -- why he can't do everything he wants to do to the SW films in one release. Perhaps he's contrasting their work on "classic" titles like Star Wars (in all its many iterations) with their pay-the-bills work on other people's new movies.

It sounds more like a justification to me than an actual explanation, but that aside, I don't take it as "classic" referring, for instance, to the UOT.

The box has one of those useless wrap around backings that is only adhered by a dab of glue (did I explain that right?)
