Just read it, I'm surprised that Bill Hunt actually acknowledged the problems that the set exhibits. It's actually a worthwhile review to read. Here's his ratings in summary:

Film rating / Video rating / Audio rating

TPM: C- / 16.5 / 19
AOTC: C+ / 17.5 / 19
ROTS: B- / 19.0 / 19
ANH: A / 18.0 / 19
TESB: A+ / 17.5 / 19
ROTJ: B / 17.0 / 19

Well after receiving the coplete saga boxset on Thursday I have had chance to check out all six movies, and to be honest their sound and picture quality is very very good.

I have looked at all the movies on my 32 inch l.c.d and my 110 inch projection system,to be fair most of my viewing was on my larger screen because I don't have a surround system in my living room

On the 32 inch set the difference between the dvd's and the blu-ray's was still very noticable, with every movie on blu-ray a huge upgrade over it's dvd version, although I will say that the dvd's still look pretty good on that size of display.

On the projection system the difference is far more noticeble as the dvd's look very poor in relation to the blu-ray's,even the worst of all the movies in terms of picture quality "the phantom menace",still looks very good indeed although a tad soft, saying this there is still a lot of detail to be found within the image and as I said before a huge improvement over the dvd.On comparing the two however the dvd has a softer image also when compared to the other prequel movies on dvd.

As the blu-ray.com review states the best movie in terms of picture is revenge of the sith, which is pretty much reference quality in terms of it's overall presentation, but as I said overall it's a pretty good package, and if the worst movie I owned on blu-ray in terms of picture quality was the phantom menace I would be pretty happy,as the picture quality on this title is still the best it has ever looked.

Not much to say on the audio side apart from awesome, each movie gave my setup and subwoofer a very good workout indeed.

B.t.w I do sit one and a half screen lengths away from my display, the room has total light control and my projector is calibrated using the Thx optimizer and Spears & Munsil test discs.

Yep... Sux.

I'm getting a new AVR delivered today so I'm kind of on the other end of the spectrum. (I hope)

My order with my 6-year-old will be:

IV, V, I, II, III, and VI

Partly cause I would like for us to be:

Thrilled, More Thrilled, Confused, Pleased, REALLY THRILLED, and then Given Closure, and time for a nap.

Ha ha!

And yes I was 8 years old when Episode I came out so I thought Jar Jar Binks was funny and the story was great. That all changed a couple years ago though. It's at the bottom of the 6 for me. Empire Strikes back still da best

Very cool. That would look great in a frame. Is it 24 x 36?

Ha ha!

4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6

It's the only way to fly.

Let me know what your crumb-cruncher does at the end of Revenge of the Sith after Luke is born and then Padme names her second child...that might be as big a surprise as "I am your father" (unless he's already seen Toy Story 2, in which case, the whole "I am your father" thing might already be played out).

Ha! I still have my widescreen collector's edition VHS with the mini "Art of Episode 1" book. I wore that VHS out.

It looks like he gave it a pretty thorough review and he recommended it highly. He gave Star Wars the best PQ rating of the OT, as you already listed, and mentioned the 4 minute video problem in Jedi. I noticed this part as this is a topic I've whined about again and again:

"Yes, it's true that there ARE some important things missing from this disc. The best of the vintage "making of" documentaries, From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga, is not included."

"Still, having at least Empire of Dreams in true HD would have been really nice, and there's no excuse for omitting From Star Wars to Jedi, especially when Star Warriors - fine though it may be - is almost certainly only going to be of interest to members of the 501st Legion."

He said this about easter eggs:

"We've been led to believe by Lucasfilm that there are a few Easter eggs hidden in this set, but we've yet to locate any."

Yeah, I'm annoyed by the lack of "From Star Wars to Jedi" as well, but I already had it on one of those "unofficial" DVDs that were very prevelant before the OT films were released back in '04. I also bought it on VHS for $5.48 used just to have a legit copy for my collection...

Just about identical to my situation. I've got an "unofficial" DVD and the VHS that came in my '92 Trilogy set.

I've got the 80's-style cover version. It looks like the backgrounds from my school pictures with the starfield and neon... (spoilered due to size)

This is completely your own opinion.

It's not the worst film in a lot of the fanbase - AOTC is a bigger consensus least liked. So I don't feel it's a letdown or bad choice at all to start with episode one.

Considering for me I've never seen them in sequence in a boxset buy, this is the perfect time to watch them how lucas' story intends. There is no argument to say new hope is the "first" movie in the saga aside from irrelevant-to-the-story release history/nostalgia.

Personally I think PM gave my audio setup a much better workout (same with visual really) than ANH would have as a first SW movie to throw in.
