I just picked up my copy of the complete saga at Target. A Target employee was putting the spider wrapping on the complete saga editions when I showed up. He only had two copies left to wrap and I was able to grab one of them (thank goodness). Target had more copies of the seperate trilogies (and no spider wrapping) than the complete saga. I had the impression that I was one of the first customers at that store to purchase the set too. I truly don't understand why someone would buy one trilogy over the other and no extras, instead of just purchasing the complete set with extras.

I guess I'm one of the 20% NOT getting Star Wars. If I change my mind and decide to get it around say, the holidays, will it still be available? I haven't heard if it's only going to be released only for a short time. Thanks!

Default Packaging

I think more attention should've been paid to the packaging for this release. Specifically regarding the trays (or lack thereof) the discs sit in. Here in the UK we've got standard plastic trays, but I notice you guys have got slightly fancier packaging than us, cardboard slits that hold the discs?

It looks good, however; the Complete Frasier boxset also comes with very similar packaging and presents a massive problem in terms of the way it holds the disc. Namely, it leaves a mark across the diameter of the disc due to the pressure placed upon the cardboard slit when the disc is present.

I'm sure it's very environmentally friendly and all that, but in terms of disc care, you're going to need to clean this discs a LOT!

Picked up the complete Saga last night at midnight. Two men were constructing the AT-AT display stand, the 2 separate trilogies were in the display with zero complete sagas. They only received 8 complete sagas. I was waiting with one other person to get the blu ray. There were roughly 30 copies of the OT and 10 copies of the prequels.

Returned home a little after midnight and began watching the OT extras, interviews, and deleted/extended scenes. Most of the deleted scenes are widescreen with no box around them, the rest of the stuff is surrounded by a box with stuff in the background. I kept thinking of how distracting this box was. It would have been nice to view some of the scenes without this brown box distracting me. Then I went to bed. Woke up at 6am and watched Star Wars.

I would say that Star Wars looks good, not great. If only we could have gotten an improved transfer in the way that Taxi Driver had. Clearly Taxi Driver is the far superior transfer. It's sad to see the CGI Special Edition effects in such a jarring manner, they really stick out. I'm not sure what was going on with the Ronto when Luke gets out of the speeder before exclaiming, "I thought we were dead!", but the underneath of the Ronto's legs looked pretty funky. Jabba's CGI placement is even more jarring in full 1080p. Areas around Solo's hair disappear with the background at times and the image behind his head goes from a static shot to actual footage between certain frames. Solo stepping over Jabba's tail looks terrible, awful.

I have mine now, very excited Pre-ordered at Best Buy and when I went in, I grabbed a copy off the shelf and a shirt. Very easy to get in and get out. Oh...the shirt was XL. Also went over to Target to check on something...and they ran out of the Complete Sage, but still had lots of the lithographs.

Just bought the Saga on my way to work this morning.

After I do a few things at work here, I'm taking the afternoon off to do a marathon viewing of these discs. I cannot wait to shut the curtains, slap these suckers on, and crank up the surround volume so loud that my neighbors run for cover.

Just did a return for replacement to amazon. Does anyone know, does amazon ship the replacement imediately, or do they wait until they receive the defective item to ship the replacement? Thanks!

I'm not really a fan of the US packaging. If I could have gotten my hands on the UK package last night I would have done just that. I do not like that I need to pull up on the disc to get it out which puts pressure on the cardboard that is keeping it in place. The inside portion of the spine in between the cover and Episode I already have some signs of cracking. When I pulled the Episodes IV, V, & VI extras disc out, I could hear that sound when packaging sounds as if it is slightly tearing itself. I had no problems with the Alien Box Set, so I hope this is the only unfortunate sound or sight that I hear or see.

I am curious as well, but I can't buy this thing, just wait a week for the hype to die down. It is tempting though to go over to the darkside so i can watch ESB on bd.

I think that re-inserted scene would have been flawless if Jabba was inserted as a hologram.

Amazon normally sends out the replacement right away. At least from my experience they do.

My son likes the prequels, that's why I got them too...but I just see them as bonus discs that come with the OT. I'm probably going to watch the prequels out of order anyway after I watch the OT.

According to the Digitalbits.com review, they say that "glimpses of the Boba Fett animation are included in A Conversation with the Masters". So do they are do they not show the whole Holiday Special cartoon by itself or is it all chopped up into the making of???

At the BB Hot Deals thread, someone pre-ordered their movie with shirt, but CS didn't pick up the shirt so he had to go out there and get one. I hope BB doesn't shit on me again.

Good, that was my hope. I can keep my "bookless" set to watch until I get my new, hopefully complete set.

Thanks Mr. J

getting ready to do a marathon. I have seen the movies countless times but I have never had a Star Wars marathon. Hmm I was thinking of watching them in this order

start off with ESB, then I-IV, then VI.

Or I might just watch them in chronological order I-VI and just watch parts of I and II then all of III-VI.

Actually I'm leaning towards ESB first, and in that way I-IV can serve as "flashbacks" of sorts and show us the story of Vader, then end it with ROTJ with Vader redeeming himself.

I would love to hear the order in which you all have watched the Saga(once you all get a chance to watch it) and hear your thoughts as well on how that particular order you chose turned out for you all.

Do IV, V, I, II, III, and then VI.

That is the best.

Went to the midnight release yesterday and my brother and I got that same shirt along with other minor star wars related things but my brother also got a free Best Buy shirt(non star wars related it was just a white t-shirt with the Best Buy logo), not sure how that happened. Maybe he should try selling both shirts in a combo pack, lol.
