I just skimmed through some of the discs last night, right now I'm going to sit down and watch TPM all the way through, and try to compromise the structural integrity of the house!

May the Force be with us all, everyone.
A couple of Easter eggs on the DVD versions involved pressing 1138 on the remote from certain point in the menu. I'm sure at least one or two eggs will involve that.

Figures my house is towards the end of the UPS route. I don't expect to get my discs before 5 or 6 this evening.

I picked up my set after work yesterday. I made it through TPM, AOTC, and half of ROTS. I am so happy. The PQ and AUDIO are devastatingly amazing. ROTS is reference all the way.

I imagine this is what we were dreaming about when we first jumped into blu ray some years ago. I can't wait to finish Sith tonight, and hop into the OT.

Just received my complete saga from Amazon and the ROTS disc is damaged. It is missing some of the disc art, looks like it got stuck to the cardboard holder and the paint? got peeled off. In chat with Amazon right now about a replacement.

"Many" years ago? The film's six years old! Is it a mark of old age that six years doesn't seem like a very long time?

If I can offer another perspective, I'm beginning to think questions of order aren't terribly important for enjoyment of the Star Wars films. This is particularly true in the case of from-birth fanatics like myself, who've seen them countless times.

If you're going to watch them all at once (madness), then I suppose it's worth following some kind of prearranged pattern, but most of us won't go down that road because it's neither practical nor enjoyable.

Having said that, if you're completely unfamiliar with the films, I strongly urge you to watch 456 before 123 (or 45 anyway). The reasons for this are three-fold:

1. I've always enjoyed the prequels (aside from parts of 1 and 2), but I don't kid myself: If the originals hadn't existed, I wouldn't have given them a second thought. In fact, episode 2 was so dramatically inert that I mightn't have bothered with 3 at all.

2. The move towards more expansive environments (albeit CG ones) and more dynamic saber battles in the prequels might (might) negatively affect your level of enjoyment if you go PT --> OT.

3. Finally, given that it's generally accepted that the original trilogy is more enjoyable than the prequels, it'd hardly do to be burnt out on the characters and so on before things really get good. At best, your palate will be blunted; at worst, you'll get to The Empire Strikes Back and think, "Meh."

Stopped by my local Walmart this morning and only had a few left shelves were completely empty dept. manager had to go in the back and pull some out that were locked away. I am glad I stopped to pick up my copy of the complete saga because I really think this will sell out fast imo.

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch this until tonight but the Mrs. will be doing Girls night out so I will be watching them uninterrupted.

May the force be with all of you!

I was not expecting them to look this good. Sound is very impressive. I buy every version of these films and as long as I am having fun it will continue. Life is too short have fun while ya can. I owned every version lucas put out even paid 400. bucks for the laser disc's and then had to buy a player. After the lasers 79.99 for the six film is a steal.

So interesting. How does the audio compare to TRON : Evolution (from your Avatar)?

I thought TRON : Evolution's audio was pretty impressive on Blu

Hint: Tell me SW is WAAAY BETTER!

Yeah, I have my CD in the original box actually, that CD had amazing features, specially the main one with the script and pictures/videos.

On the projection system the difference is far more noticeble as the dvd's look very poor in relation to the blu-ray's,even the worst of all the movies in terms of picture quality "the phantom menace",still looks very good indeed although a tad soft, saying this there is still a lot of detail to be found within the image and as I said before a huge improvement over the dvd.On comparing the two however the dvd has a softer image also when compared to the other prequel movies on dvd.

B.t.w I do sit one and a half screen lengths away from my display, the room has total light control and my projector is calibrated using the Thx optimizer and Spears & Munsil test discs.
I don't have a projector, but it's great to hear how people with these awesome setups perceive the PQ.

It's the only way to fly.

Let me know what your crumb-cruncher does at the end of Revenge of the Sith after Luke is born and then Padme names her second child...that might be as big a surprise as "I am your father" (unless he's already seen Toy Story 2, in which case, the whole "I am your father" thing might already be played out).
Again, I think 4 - 1 - 5 keeps the whole 'is Anaking Vader?' thing pretty much ambiguous. You only really know until 3.

(This being told to me while we stood by a large placard stating it's release at Midnight - an hour an a half before I arrived!)

I pointed out the ads they had posted and grudgingly, the associate said she would take one more look. She came back carrying a box and presented me with a Star Wars Lego game along with her "manager" who again stressed tom me that the set wont be released for some time.

Realizing that this was a futile endeavor, I thanked her for looking and left. On my way out I encountered a six college kids who were coming to pick up the set - I told them that they would have no luck.

So, I and these kids who I never met, jumped in my van, drove to the neighboring town 1/2 hour away, and bought our copies.

For giggles, I stopped by the Wal-Mart on my way to work and they have taken down all the Star Wars ads and as of 7:45 this morning - still no Star Wars.
Best post in this thread. THAT is what Star Wars is about.

Lucas has even said in various DVD extras and other places he doesn't intend to replace the puppet Yoda from ESB or RotJ.
In preparation for watching SW on blu-ray, I began watching the special features of the OT (except for Ep.1, since I lend a friend those DVDs), and that's part of the From Puppet to Pixels documentary from Ep.2. They used footage from the OT to base digital Yoda for the OT.

Actually I'm leaning towards ESB first, and in that way I-IV can serve as "flashbacks" of sorts and show us the story of Vader, then end it with ROTJ with Vader redeeming himself.
IMO, 4-1-5-2-3-6. I'll PM you.

I don't see the love for NCIS, I haven't been able to enjoy it; I start watching it then just switch to another channel. Overrated with poor production values. I watch White Collar instead.

Went to an 8 am FS this morning and walked out with the films and a free mini-lightsaber toy, eight lithos that are decently sized and I think some look pretty snazzy, and the Darth Maul Force FX Lightsaber (I won it in their raffle draw before the store opened)! The lightsaber is pure awesomeness by the way, so Google it to see the whole series. It was valued at $150 so I did well today.

Thought the films looked pretty good - not reference, but pretty good nonetheless all things considered. The OT is pretty impressive as far as the soundtrack goes as well. I think a restoration could have done them better, but at least it looks like they tried to fix them up.

ROTS and AOTC are pretty incredible visually. Episodes I & II have the best sound I might have ever heard on Blu - it's absolutely surreal and realistic all at once. ROTS's opening sequence was a jaw-dropper, as was the majority of the other sequences I tested.

Tonight, my roommate and I are going through the OT deleted scenes and then watching the saga in order, starting with TPM and AOTC before bed. Should be great!

Overall review so far: 8/10 pretty easily, getting higher the more I watch and listen.

Picked up The Complete Saga at Wal-Mart before work today. I actually had to ask them to get it for me from the stock room because they hadn't put any out yet.

I got the Vader tshirt and the joy of Best Buy's payment machines not reading the chips on my debit or credit card. I had to switch machines, and my visa chip still wouldn't read, but it would swipe. I also had the joy of entering in my on security code, rather than the clerk. Freaking Chips are more hassle than they're worth.

I have the mega set though.
