Haha! I asked the exact same question the other day, and the reply I got was because he was fatigued lol.

As for the audio bugs being mentioned, obviously I have the UK set and no issues at all here, and I havent noticed any one mention it on the UK thread.

The only thing I've noticed so far is that certain BD players arent displaying some of the docs on Disc 9 properly. Rather than go full screen, the picture apears as a tiny square box in the top left corner of the screen.

Similarly, I never noticed there was another of Yoda's race sitting in the Jedi Council when Qui-Gon is discussing Anakin with them. My son yelled out, "Another Yoda Dude!", and not having seen him before I thought he was added. So I popped in the DVD and sure enough he was there. Heh, well at least it looks like another of Yoda's species. Guess I'm going to google it now.

Just got done watching TPM. Whoever said the DNR is not that bad is BLIND. So disappointing. I had high hopes for this film looking phenomenal. Oh well. The audio is wonderful and the new CGI Yoda is a BIG improvement. Had Lucasfilm not scrubbed away all the grain, this could have easily been the best looking of the prequels.

Exactly, stylus had to be replaced just like a record player. Discs would skip just like a music record. It also had a large rubber band like belt on the inside that would break and need to be replaced. Seemed like a good idea at the time though .... It became a $450 boat anchor in 18 months.

Back on Topic .....

Just got my Shipping Notification from B&N. Mine Should arrive by Monday or Tuesday. Got it for $65 though. Guess I'll just have to drool over your guy's sets right now ....

Anyway, I watched parts from the prequel trilogy today on my "little" 27 inch 1080p computer monitor and I can actually see picture quality issues that others can't sitting far back from their TVs. Like how there's an annoyingly subtle grain throughout Revenge of the Sith that makes it the poorest of the three prequels in terms of picture clarity IMO, the shoddy CG backdrops of Attack of the Clones notwithstanding. I'm not sure what the bluray.com reviewer was talking about regarding the Phantom Menace, because aside from some tiny light pixels that flash every once in a while, it is by far the best looking of the blu-ray transfers. Which one would expect given it's going to be put back up on big digital theatre screens next year in 3D.
tell ya what buddy i could care less about you and your lil monitor... star wars is about an experience and tell ya what i love it and always will no matter what happens and as for you go back to your star dreck and leave this forum to those who truly appreciate the movies.

HAHA thanks man i laughed pretty hard.. Yea im sure we can go through all these movies and ask "why didnt he/she" but that kinda ruins the enjoyment of it being a movie and also the more we point out the more Lucas himself will go back and change. We all know what happens when he get ideas in his little head.

Yup, I agree with other posts. Episode IV is amazing. Bright, vivid colors and crisp detail. I never noticed like 50% of the detail I'm watching. This movie is 34 years old What a great hobby we have

Hold the paint side up to your eye and you can see clean through.

Same problem with Episode V and the Documentary Disc. Empire has it in 2 spots, although neither are as large as ANH.
I had the same thing as far as the book being dented. Looked like someone dropped it. All the corners of each page are bent and wrinkled. Honestly dont know why it bothers me so much. Im really the only one who sees it haha damn its annoying. Think i can return it cause of that?

I guess I'm blind then. Snerk. Because the detail is still there. And you can even see individual hairs on people's eyebrows and heads. Sure, there's a few shot that look a bit off. But if you compare those shots to the DVD, such as with the infamous Qui-Gon image that people were tossing around... that always looked heavily filtered and off. It's not any worse than Aliens with it's de-graining. It's certainly not disappointing at all.

Between the Jedi Knight and Force Unleashed games, I don't know how many times I've gotten killed due to depleted force energy. Obi-wan did after all just jump from the lower to top platform before reaching the force field. So, according to the video games this has to be true.

The face scrubbing was far too distracting. The only part I enjoy of TPM, the pod race. I almost fell asleep and my wife fell asleep half way through. My youngest daughter kept asking where Luke Skywalker was hiding.

Aliens is WAY better with its application of DNR. You can't even compare the two. A more appropriate comparison is what they did to Predator. There are moments in TPM that look as bad as that now infamous Predator edition. There is NO reason TPM needed the DNR it received. Even TPM haters will acknowledge it is a beautiful looking film. The DNR really does go a long way in detracting from the film's aesthetics.

But I am glad you like it. Looks like crap to me, however.

I dunno, everyone I know hates Last Crusade for being silly and comical, and loves the seriousness of Temple (not to mention a great villain, whereas Crusade had the weakest villain of the 4 films)... but back to Star Wars...

I think Jar Jar Binks would've been more tolerable had Lucas just redubbed his voice completely.
