there is an issue with PowerDVD right now and possibly with some stand alone players.

http://forum.cyberlink.com/forum/posts/list/18963.page

Lucasarts used some type of BD+ Encryption that normal players aren't used to. Basically this is the biggest **** up Blu-Ray launch in a long time; trumping Saving Private Ryan by a lot. Now some players are playing the movie without any issues, but a lot aren't. I would say less than a week for anyone on HTPC using PowerDVD. Stand alone players I have no idea how long till you get a firmware patch.

This has fixed some peoples problem with PowerDVD 10:

Also to the user above about Amazon Prime, you do realize it cost $79.99 a year to have that service right? It is really meant to watch movies on Amazon, not for fast shipping.

It was $79.99 (no sales tax!) (Complete Saga) also, plus you get a crap load of free stuff, video on demand, and a lot of movies you buy you get free downloads to watch when you make the purchase same day. And everything is free 2 day shipping, I love it.. Just a thought

I was a little worried when the reviewer gave The Phantom Menace a 3/5, but it looks great! I guess I should've taken him seriously when he said he doesn't like scores (too arbitrary), and I'm no expert, but I think for the most part it looks fantastic. Can't wait to get to Sith.

Ah, this would explain why Power DVD 10 triggered the update I mentioned as soon as I started A New Hope in my HTPC. However, I'll note though that I've also tried it in 3 standalone players (Oppo 93, Oppo 80, and a PS3 Slim) and have had no issues.

Watched Phantom Menace. Never looked so good. Sound was thundering. Had a friend come over and tell me they could hear it from the street.

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT and WHY IS IT THERE?

Upper right corner, in the same place the loading symbol would show, or reading DVD or Bluray after it loads, it's a very small video camera. I thought it meant ALTERNATE ANGLE like SOMe blurays have two or three camera angles to view (like Moulin Rouge in the Special Features). But Star Wars has NO alternate camera angles.

AgHHHHHHHHH
What players are you experiencing this on? It sounds like the alternate angle icon and maybe certain players are triggering a false positive.

Went through the deleted scenes on the original trilogy bonus disc and almost the entirety of the prequel bonus disc. Wow, I really like those extended animatics of the arena ground/space/droid control ship battle. A lot more Jedi getting killed but also see some interactive fighting (Jedi gets killed by droideka and then another jedi takes out that droid eka). I laughed out loud when the big crab thing tossed the super battle droid. The Jedi on the droid control ship was crazy, even half finished they started with what a dozen and only the two from the Council left when the droids reactivated.

Even though it's one of my favorite scenes on ROTS, I also liked the extended/original Order 66 montage better for some more of the Jedi deaths. Especially the guy who's tank turned around and blasted him point blank but also the apprentice chic from AOTC who gets gunned down and then stepped on by her walker. Ouch. I liked Yoda's part better, too, telling the wookies that something was wrong and to be alert (and then you see all the clones shoot up Luminara).

I really hope Lucas has LFL finish up those scenes with SFX and reintegrate them into an extended cut at some point in the future, maybe for 3D.

Just finished watching TPM and AOTC.
Some general thoughts on them:
TPM is occasionally a mind-blower, but just as often a colossal disappointment. The DNR is really, really heavy and it's really bothersome most of the time, but when detail rears its head in full (which happens on occasion), it's an absolute revelation. Overall, a middling transfer but nowhere near the worst I've seen. Just average or a bit above it. Audio is outstanding on the other hand - probably the best anybody's HT will ever sound.

AOTC had some great video, but it felt similar to the DVD experience: excellent but a little too flat. I think that can be attributed to the still-infantile HD cameras they used, but it's worth noting regardless. Special FX looked way better than I expected to after reading everything I did here, particularly the clones. The audio for this film was bombastic and incredible, much like TPM. I felt like the audio maybe missed a touch of the magic spark TPM had until the very end when the clone troops arrive. Then my HT practically lit on fire. Absolutely incredible.

I popped in the other discs - ROTS is a new demo for me, both visually and audio-wise. Like Avatar, I know there's better audio discs out there but for an all-in-one, I'm not sure you'll find much better. Stunning was not a strong enough word and I look forward to viewing it in its whole tomorrow afternoon or evening.

I checked out each OT film but haven't come to a conclusion yet - I like what I see but I think I'll need to watch them in full before passing judgment on the PQ. Audio sounds great though. I think I'm just a little disappointed George promised us a lot that he didn't deliver on (fixed sabers, deeper shadow detail, etc). What disappointed me most was the crushed blacks. That being said, I liked what I saw in the sense that it certainly looks 1000% better than DVDs (even on my 46" screen). I will have to do a few comparisons over the coming weeks.

I went through all the deleted scenes for the OT earlier today - saw a few interesting things but a lot of it I can totally see why it was cut and am glad they didn't make the film. Heresy I know, but I'll stand by my point regardless.

Set packaging is also really nice - not as nice as the Alien Anthology but definitely one of my favourite packages. A solid 8.5/10 (for video, audio, extras, and packaging - film grades not tallied) all around from me so far and that score may only go up as time goes on.

It'd be nice if George came out and said "this is it Star Wars now meets my vision, no more changes will be made". After that we just have to hold out hope that the originals will be released someday.

This thread moves fast but did anyone confirm if they found the Christmas Special? Rumored that it could have been an Easter egg. Maybe?

Give George's hatred for it I think they LFL were referring to the Boba Fett cartoon from the holiday special.

LOL, joking aside, there is another edit error (and I've never spotted an edit error in Star Wars before - I guess I've never looked hard enough) in ESB when they are escaping Hoth in the Falcon. Leia's seat position changes - in one shot she is sitting back, the next sitting up, and then sitting back again.

Between these two and the stain on the dress, I guess Leia takes the brunt of the continuity issues.

Same problem with Episode V and the Documentary Disc. Empire has it in 2 spots, although neither are as large as ANH.
Just for the hell of it I just looked at all my discs... My Phantom Menace has one of these holes, as well as one of my bonus discs. What's even worse is, I took my finger and gently touched the hole on the top side of the disc and more of the printing flaked off and now I have a larger hole. Are you f'n kidding me? My set is going back to Best Buy tomorrow and I better not get another one with the same problem.

This is probably the fourth person that has mentioned that. I checked all of mine and they were perfect, but having the paint come off more as you touch it? Not cool. I'd understand if they were pin pricks, really small, but larger holes? Just go return it.

I don't really think that most viewers are that utterly clueless. It's not that difficult to make the connection.

And even Luke, being a dumb hick blonde from the ass end of space should be able to figure this out.
