I will admit apprehensive about the release but have come to realize it is much ado about nothing. Overall it's a solid release. The bonus discs for each trilogy is fantastic. Even the computer test shots are cool to watch.

Only little hiccup I've notice is the menus on the bonus discs get hung up a little bit. Probably more to do with the POS player I have and not the disc itself.

Glad I decided to go through Walmart.com instead of Amazon otherwise I'd still be waiting for this.

then I selected "BD INTERNET CONNECTION"
then "DO NOT ALLOW"
then ENTER

everything plays fine now-- maybe I'll just leave that off forever.. it doesn't effect updates, Netflix, etc-- it only would effect BD Live stuff If I'm not mistaken which I never use...

Well I know it gets a lot of hate but I just watched Episode I which I have not seen in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed it much better than I did in the past.

The scene has always been like that, it's nothing new. Vader shakes his hand for he has machine hand spasms.

BTW, in ESB on Blu, I noticed that "Wampa Flea" a lot in the corner in many different scenes. It is in lower left hand corner of the "fixed" image. Seems to have been an issue on one of the computers uses to generate the masters.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me much. I am just thrilled SO much effort was put into restoring these films. Actually now, when I notice the flea, I start thinking, what did they "fix" in that image? Likely only fixed the color grading, etc. and THAT is fine by me

Movies, for the most part, read steadily from outside inwards, so you're more likely to notice the skips.

I have had several CDs and DVDs with this problem and all of them had jarring skips (sometimes the CDs just stopped reading).
BDs are different from CDs and DVDs. The reflective, or recording, layer is in between the substrate and cover layers. BDs don't have the Al-based reflective layer directly under the label like CDs do. Therefore, from a playability standpoint, it doesn't matter if part of the label is missing or flakes off; the discs will play fine either way. Here's a white paper on the BD-ROM format:

Now, I fully understand wanting to have perfect disc art though.

That same issue is seen with Leia after the Abyss jump.

Here's an interesting way to make back some of the money spent on this set. Buy two and sell the disks of one set individually on ebay:

That's nothing. People were bidding $32 for just disc #8 because they didn't read the title or description and just saw the full star wars blu promotional picture. Thankfully they all wised up and cancelled all their bids before it was too late.

I watched the original trilogy last night, and I think the PQ is at least a solid 3.5. Yeah I know, they could have done a brand new 4K or 6K trasnfer, or whatever the heck they do these days, but I think the trasnfers are fine. As far as the new changes, It really didn't bother me at all. Yes, I preffer the originals unaltered, but it is what it is. I think that George should give the fans the OPTION to choose which version the fans want, but he thinks otherwise and I think he's WRONG. I'm sure that he will release them someday....but until then, I'm fine with the new versions....

After reading some of these posts,im gonna check all my discs, eps 1-4 have played with no probs just about to watch 5 and 6 .
Even if they play with no problems,,if i see pinholes ,they going back, them no problem holes may decide to become problematic.

On a side note,in Ep III when anakin is kneeling in front of the emperor... only now did i notice the emperor was floating

Out of the 9 discs, The Phantom Menace had two really tiny pin holes on the outer edge about two an inch apart. It didn't cause a problem whatsoever and since I bought the individual sets as well, I just exchanged the flawless copy of the phantom menace to put in the saga. Any who, if the hole was as huge as some of the pictures then I would def. return it. Really small pin holes? No.

Finished Episode III off moments ago and preparing to finish off the Saga with Episode VI, but my God, these archival commentaries are the gems (and I haven't even got the bonus discs yet). Hearing Christopher Lee and Ian McDiarmid is wonderful. Christopher Lee's voice is the stuff of legends.

Ewan, Natalie, and Hayden participated a lot information into how they thought about their characters with the last two episodes....especially Natalie.

If you've been following the Prequels and seen a lot of the video interviews in the web documentaries and other featurettes, you've heard a lot of what the Prequels actors have said already. But, we got more added bits that fully expand on what they were talking about in said interviews and such.

As an aside, the films work beautifully in chronological order but I have to admit, I see real merit in watching them 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, and finishing it off with 6. I can even say that it might be more dramatic that way.

I work Target, and some diehard fan bought:

The Complete Saga w/ the free lithographs
The 1-3 set
The 4-6 set

If you get the Complete Saga, you get ALL the contents of the two smaller 3 disc sets + 3 discs of suppilmentals!

I guess some people like to waste $

For those that don't get the complete saga just because they don't like the prequels...I beg you to reconsider. The bonus discs alone are worth the upgrade. And I LOVE the book style packaging. My family was blown away by how awesome the book looks...and it's put together very well. It's actually kind of heavy for a blu-ray case. I just don't like the casing for the individual trilogies.

Agreed. The prequels in my mind do not hold a candle to the OT in terms of storytelling, but they look and sound amazing. I'm in agreement with some people here that TPM has too much scrubbing for my taste and on a 65" it is distracting. But they all could look better.

Now thanks to everyone with pinholes in their discs, it made be paranoid. I checked all 9 discs and found no holes, but on Episode III and Episode V there were tiny scratches from the packaging I am assuming. I am in the process of printing out covers. I am placing the PT in a case that holds 3, the OT in a case that holds 3, and the extras in their own case as well. I think I will like it this way as apposed to taking them out of the Saga box every time and trying to lift the discs out of that package. The sleeves on the SW are too tight. I had no problems with the Aliens box set.

Best to re-edit those entries, actually. Don't let inaccurate information just sit there on wikipedia. That being said, I am not seeing what the OP was even talking about.

I sampled all three prequels. TPM's DNR doesn't seem that bad based on the few bits I saw. It's there, but the intent to make all three films visually match kind of works. Detail-wise, it looked around the same as AOTC. ROTS is sharper, but IMO not by a ton. At least not on my display. All three prequels seem to more or less match visually.

Hmm, good to know. I knew about CDs/DVDs needing the reflecting layer, but since so many BDs are basically transparent I was unsure if it mattered. This must be one of the reasons they say BDs are more durable than DVDs. Oh, well. I already processed my return to amazon.

Looks like it's just some minor vignetting. Probably was filmed that way. Probably not even visible unless you're viewing the film dot-by-dot.

I thought she kind of sleepwalked through ROTS and maybe AOTC based on her 'acting' in many scenes. Black Swan shows that she is a phenomenal actor, but not really flexing those muscles when it comes to SW.
