[QUOTE=DarkDune;5222363]They ARE clones, and others.
/QUOTE] no accents on the OT Stormtroopers..but all clones in prequels and tv series have heavy Janga Fett accents..a new type of clone for the OT?..I think not..they were real soldiers and the clones in prequels are more after thoughts by Lucas |

Just checked the DVD. It is a new addition! I don't like or hate it. It's just different. I do find it interesting what things bother Lucas enough to make such minor changes and what things don't.

So I found that if I change my BD Audio Setting from "Direct" to "Mix" it gets rid of the clipping issue. I still hear distortion though in certain spots and mostly during ANH. When I switch to "Mix" my receiver, of course, displays "PCM" instead of "DTS Master Audio". No other discs in my collection give me this problem, just these Star Wars discs.

Yeah, its just a bit weird when this isn't in AOTC, but then again that film was made soft on purpose.

According to the handbooks and stuff, by the time of the OT some are Clones and some are Recruits. |

AOTC was pretty interesting in its own right. Especially the Jango/Obiwan "mystery thriller" parts. At the time, we had no idea "how" the Jedi would discover what was going on with the Sith. Mr. Obi did a great job investigating the issue for sure.

I am gonna get an image later, but...
Anyone else ever notice the RED LIGHTS on the back tips of the Clone Trooper's helmets in AOTC before?!?! I seriously never noticed that, and am wondering what the heck those red lights are supposed to be! Last edited by DarkDune; 09-18-2011 at 08:00 PM. |

I watched TPM last night. Honestly, this is one of the best cases of DNR I have ever seen. That infamous shot of Qui-Gon? Only shot in the entire movie that looked remotely that bad. For the most part, the movie is sharp and detailed. It's smooth, yeah...and grain has been scrubbed away. But it's an artistic choice; I am going to assume made by the director; and it's not sloppily-done. So in this rare case, I can excuse it. Also, 12 years later...despite being very annoyed by Jar-Jar and Anakin (and to a lesser extent, Ralph '85' Brown), I love this movie. Kind of feel sorry for fans who can't enjoy it, but I know the feeling as I feel that way about the Clone Wars CG series. Just cannot get into it, doesn't feel like SW to me at all.
I guess this means I am switching to the IV, V, I, II, III, V order of viewing. Watched ANH and ESB, then had a hankering for TPM for some reason so I skipped over ROTJ. Going to keep this order and see what I think of it. It does have a few positives. Quote:

Obi-Wan doesn't remember R2 because he's a damned racist. For Obi-Wan and a lot of the other characters in the films, droids are just tools. When it comes to astromechs, 'they all look the same'. It would be cool if somebody put together a fan-made Blu-ray that collected all of the DVD features onto one BD-R. Maybe put in some of the stuff from VHS and LD releases that never made it to DVD or BD. Would almost certainly have to to be a dual-layer disc, though. Quote:
I could have sworn I either read or heard Lucas say that probably at some point the clones were phased out and the Stormtrooper corps became recruitment-based. |

Finally a review that get's it right! rating the original trilogy last in terms of PQ, TPM a notch above marred by DNR and episodes 2-3 at the top. A New Hope was exquisitely photographed by Gilbert Taylor, and the Blu-ray unleashes detail that has been lurking on that DVD master unappreciated for years. But especially when watched after I-III, the image here looks soft, grainy and noisy, while the blacks have an unfortunate murkiness, which can be particularly unpleasant in darker scenes, pulling in characters like a famished Dianoga. Some nice nuances emerge, such as an exhaust plume from a ship leaving faraway Mos Eisley spaceport, while the color and appearance of the lightsabers--long a problem on home video--is improved but not perfect. Unwelcome, seemingly random geometric "garbage mattes" around vehicles--inherent to the original film element but seldom seen in the theater--have been all but banished here, while Empire and Jedi are still awash in these ugly things, with the TIE Fighters getting the worst of it. These spindly little Imperial ships also have a tendency to get lost in the unforgiving blacks of these video masters, although detail appears superior to that in A New Hope, particularly in actor close-ups. Phantom Menace is the only installment of The Prequel Trilogy to be shot on film (although it was all over the news at the time for its DLP digital theatrical presentation on four screens), and as such it has a unique look, superior to the aged Classic Trilogy but not quite on a par with the clarity of the all-digital Episodes II and III. |
