They still had Jango's DNA, but they pretty much stretched it to it's limit as far as cloning sometimes during the clone wars. so some clones wound up having defects are were delegated to "city workers" in Tipoca City as opposed to soldiers.

99 is an example of a defect clone in The Clone Wars animated series.

I'd imagine by the end of the clone wars they were thinking of new ways to come up with soldiers.

Finally a review that get's it right! rating the original trilogy last in terms of PQ, TPM a notch above marred by DNR and episodes 2-3 at the top.
But, just happens to disagree with most everyone else.

Right at the end of RotS, we see non-clone officers and crew on the star destroyer bridge. So you could say its the beginning of "normal" humans becoming involved.

Not to mention Biggs trained at the Imperial Academy, as mentioned in the Deleted scene.

Where did you find a Panasonic DMP-BD30 V3.0 update? Last firmware update for this model I can recall was mid-2009. Info would be appreciated. Like you, and many others, I've experienced the AOTC issues with pixelation during the shmi and Yoda battle scenes. Seems to be fairly widespread, but only affecting certain players.

LOL That guy is telling everyone to stick with the OT dvds because they look fine and are not worth bluray upgrade. Too funny considering they look the best they have ever looked on bluray. I suggest everyone ignore him since he is obviously clueless. Oh wait... they already have!

On a side note, I watched the entire saga this weekend and it is the ultimate collection to own. Period. Very happy with the purchase. Those who are not getting it are missing out... BIG time.

There were Non-Clone Officer types even during the Clone Wars. The Command Crews of the various Republic Ships.

The magenta blaster flashes in the OT are very distracting. Have those always been there?

Well, I still think some of the more ridiculous changes are just that, ridiculous. But, it wouldn't ever be enough to sway me from having these on Blu-ray.

There has always been fullscreen color flashes for blasters and lightsabers, never took note of which colors, but they were there.

The Phantom Menace

PQ: 3/5

AQ: 5/5 best of the series

AOTC:

PQ: 4/5

AQ: 5/5 not as good as phantoms though

Revenge of The Sith

PQ: 5/5

AQ:4/5 - what happened to the LFE on the light sabers??? very weak in terms of LFE compared to the other two, just like the dvd releases, it doesnt look like they did anything to these releases...cheap bastards!!

I finished ROTS and ANH last night. ROTS is stunning, up there with Avatar - a 9.8 or 9.9/10 transfer all around if there ever was one.

EDIT: The sound quality may not be as incredible as the first two films, but the sheer detail in the lossless mix makes up for it. The lack of LFE in the sabers isn't ideal but it isn't really all that noticeable either. Not a make-or-break deal as far as I'm concerned and this sounds way better than I thought it would. If TPM an AOTC were 11/10's (which they were), this is a 10.

ANH was great EXCEPT for the black crush, which seemed to be pretty darn rampant. Would it have killed Lucasfilm to change the gamma a bit and get some shadow detail going? That was at the top of my list for changes and I'm a little disappointed to see it isn't there. It sounded absolutely PHENOMENAL though - not the reference that Apocalypse Now was (as far as old films go), but pretty darn close. The audio sounded a little harsh, but I think that may be the product of its time (especially since Fox didn't realize how popular the film would be - I'm assuming the sound isn't in pristine condition).

From what I've tested on the other two OT films, their sound is just as good but definitely a little less tonally harsh - I'd assume a better-quality film print all around. Very excited for ESB tonight!

Overall, a massive improvement over DVD's. Not the reference quality we were promised, but definitely solid and worth a purchase. Love the film grain on the films too! Good to see that was (mostly) left intact.

This thread has also gone from you're an idiot for not buying to everyone who bought finding dozens of changes or issues here and there that I probably wouldn't even have noticed. I feel more comfortable in not buying because everyday you tell me a bit more why it's not must-buy at all and how I can be happy to wait for a price drop or holiday sale.

Those obsessing over VERY small details and or complaining should be ignored by those who haven't bought anything yet based on what I've watched so far. That and they really NEED to be seen by a shrink and prescribed a heavy dose of medication!

I don't think anyone's obsessing over very small details. I just think most people are interested in seeing what has been changed this time around.

Like alternate lines of dialog, etc. They're very small changes, they're hard to complain about, but it's interesting just to know that it's different.

Amen.

I just don't go in this thread any more because it's pointless. I know what the changes are and it's become a big ol' George circle-jerk.
