Same here on AOTC bitsreaming from a Pioneer 320 to a Denon790. PCM solved the problem however I can now blame George for something else, not only did he get rid of puppet Yoda he also got rid of my pretty blue light on my receiver .

For me, I see those kind of issues as a problem from the source material and not authoring itself. These movies have all been around for a while now, and were not intended originally to be shown on HD TV, per se. They were all produced for film (yes even ROTS, although thankfully it translated well to HD).
Produced for "film" or not, they still screened 50 feet wide at the theater, which is much more resolution than a HDTV... I'm curious what difference it would make? Not to mention AOTC and ROTS were shot entirely digitally, so they weren't actually produced for FILM at all. No film was used.

I've watch the blu-rays and I have not notice any audio dropouts except for switching between the different audio tracks on the blu-rays other than that no major issues with the blu-rays for me as far and audio dropouts and I have a onkyo txsr-308 home theater receiver.

Just finished watching A New Hope ... no audio issues, but just as the credits were about to end, it displayed the subtitle selection - [English], even though I had no subtitles turned on. Went back and selected other subtitle tracks to check again, and it would display whatever subtitles I had selected - [Spanish-Latin], etc. Any one else notice this, and is it necessarily an issue? Was watching it on a PS3, btw.

Agreed. It would help the movie tremendously, in my opinion.

ridiculous

popped in star wars 3, no problem

There's a thread over at HTF(hometheaterforum.com). It's a review thread where members are posting their sometimes in-depth reviews of the set. Start on page 1 and look for posts by a member named "Paul Warren". He posts about this same issue that you've mentioned plus other similar issues throughout the OT. He even took pictures of his screen and drew boxes around the problems. You'll find those pictures on Page 2 of the thread. To my knowledge, you and he are the only people who have made mention of such an issue. Either it's very isolated, something to do with your setups, or it's there and most haven't noticed it.

He said it's very noticeable at the end of Star Wars in the throne room medal ceremony. He said it's on the right side of the frame.

Check it out:

One mistake Matthew Wood! Just one!
I noticed it was pretty low, too. It is much less audible the 2nd time it is said. It is so engrained in my head that to me it is more or less an expected audio queue for the Death Star exploding.

Probably because there were some english subtitles during the scenes with Greedo and Jabba.

I just noticed that planet Kamino is missing from the Episode 2 extras. Seems like an odd omission.

C'mon guys. There's no need to fight. Not everyone is going to like the same things.

But comments suggesting that people have to be retarded to like Phantom Menace and such cross the line.

It's okay to not personally like a movie, or a character, but there's personal dislike and there's just being a douchecanoe.

I dislike plenty of popular movies, Godfather and The Dark Knight being chief among them. But I wouldn't consider it's fans mentally deficient for liking them.

How about a little personal respect for everyone's opinions. As long as they're not presented as attacks against fans, filmmakers, and the like.

I've not said anything to suggest that at all.

All I was saying is that this guy has no right to say that if we don't like all of the SW films, then we simply can't be true fans, which is utter rubbish, apart from being arrogant beyond belief.

I'm all for the opinion of the individual, no opinion is right or wrong! Was my post unclear, it seems pretty straight forward to me!

That's right. There are many forced subtitles and also subtitles for commentary just to state the current speaker(s).

There were 5 "major" novels within NJO; Vector Prime, Balance Point, Star By Star, Destiny's Way, and The Undying Force. If you read those and then just plot synopsis from the others you should be fine

Turn down your White Balance's Red Bias (Red in Dark Scenes). That will help.

To me, ROTJ is clearly the best transfer. The scenes in Jabba's palace are flawless. ESB looks great, with a pleasant level of grain. I wouldn't call ANH "murky" at all -- in fact, I popped in the DVD and compared a few scenes after watching the Blu-ray, and found that the contrast on the Blu-ray is much better than the DVD.

TPM has noticeable DNR presumably in an effort to give it a grainless look akin to the other two digitally-shot prequels. And while AOTC and ROTS look nice and clean, my screen has displayed a fair amount of aliasing in both of those films, while there is hardly any at all in the OT films.

In a sense it's apples and oranges. Some will prefer the softer, CGI heavy prequel look and others will prefer the grain of the OT. Trying to make all six look the same would have been a huge mistake, and trying to make TPM look like the other PT films is understandable (because otherwise people might complain how grainy it looks compared to AOTC and ROTS) but I think it suffers for it.

To each their own.
I agree regarding the transfer of Return of the Jedi. I thought it was the best of the original trilogy and was stunning.

Rich

have you guys noticed how EVERYTHING is subtitled?! awesome!

All of the movies have subtitles for the 6.1 DTS-HD track (in english), plus for both of the commentary tracks

And every single video on the bonus discs, even the 20-30 second deleted scenes have subtitles!

Only thing is with the bonus discs, there's no menu to turn them on, I'm using a PS3 so I just press Triangle and go through the sub options. I guess you could always scroll through the list of your BD players a/v menu.

Same problem here.

Denon 3310 Receiver and a Sony 1000ES Blu-ray player. Plays fine if i switch to "mix" on the Blu-ray player. It also plays fine if i just use the TV speakers (Sony 50 inch LCD).
It also plays fine on my other setup. Sony 360 Blu-ray player and Pioneer receiver.
So far the Denon playing the DTS-HD seems to be the only hang-up.
But, i just read a post on another forum, a guy who has the same receiver as me, and it sounds fine, no dropouts.

Just damn annoying.
