Yes, this is one of my pet hates about Fox BDs.

The "English" caption is there because of the alien language translations - Greedo, Jabba, etc. Apparently it's an indicator for the mastering engineer to ensure the correct captions (which are player generated in this case) are put against the correct version of the film.

It's unnecessary and, IMHO, spoils the final second of the credits (i.e. the final second of the film).

A technical prompt should NOT be copied over to the final release discs!

the green line gets way bigger and more noticeable in brighter scenes

maybe you guys dont have the screen size set to maximum or 1:1???
i can see them very clearly in some shots

see it on the right side???

Maybe it is a problem from having these movies taken from old transfers? Lucasfilm probably thinks most people don't know any better and have the overscan on on their TVs.

So far I have watched ANH, ESB and TPM.

TPM was definitely a mixed bag in PQ department, ranging from Predator UHE bad to stunning. But that CG sticks out likwe sore thumb to the point it takes you out of the movie. CG Yoda is great to me looks better than ROTS.

I was dissapointed by ANH at first with all the halos around the characters in grainy shots. This was a none issue though once they blasted off from Mos Eisly.

ESB was a definite improvement. Also why were the sabers fixed halfway through the battle

I thought for the most part the sabers were alot better, it makes me wonder why they didn't finish the job... to busy adding sparks rocks and palace doors...

The Audio is so good I cried.

If you don't want to read the movie review, just skip to the technical portion. Asking it to be removed when there are people who do enjoy reading them and find them useful is selfish.

I like the PT films but keeping the discussions to nothing but technical aspects of the discs is about as exciting as watching the wind. I agree that peoples opinions are NEVER facts, but Im OK with reading what people think of the films, even if their opinions seem out of whack.

Keep it going....

I haven't yet gotten my copy of the new STAR WARS movies. Are they crisp and clean? Does Greedo and Han Shoot at the same time to appease/insult the intelligence of all us fans? Do the ewoks finally appear creepier because of their digital blinking? Has old Anakin been replaced with young Anakin in old make up? Has puppet Yoda's lips been digitized in THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI so as not to appear so puppet like? Does Obie Wan still say "That boy is our last hope", even though he knows that Luke had a sister? Is Jar Jar replaced by a bowl of soup? Does Darth say the same exact thing at the end of RETURN as he said in REVENGE? Did George Lucas set film restoration back one hundred years by tampering with his own masterpiece?
Those are but a few question I have is all. But , not to worry. Soon I will be joining all my fellow fans into the giant toilet that Mr. Lucas uses to take a dump in. And I will be proudly hold my copies of NEW STAR WARS bluray up in the air.

Watched ESB last night - still the best film in the series.

It looked and sounded marvelous - it's incredible the difference between a 1977 film and a 1980 film as far as effects. I didn't notice a ton of garbage mattes like some people, but when I saw them, they didn't bother me a lot. It sounded phenomenal.

I have a subwoofer riser and these films are still rumbling my floor and furniture, which I find pretty ridiculous. There's a TON of LFE in these, particularly the OT.

Most importantly though, I was surprised by how fantastic the film looked. I firmly believe that it could be better with a restoration, but until I get one, I'm happy to live with this - Yoda looked great and some of the sequences have some incredible model work.

The only thing I wish they worked on here was the lightsaber hues - after seeing their great touch-ups on Obi-wan and Vader's duel in ANH it was disappointing that it didn't get done here to the same degree.

I have made it through IV-I still need to watch II and III and all I can say is wow. They sound awesome and picture quality is great as well. I have 7.2 system 60inch Sony and it could not be better. Well worth the wait and very, very happy with my purchase. I have the originals on Laser Disc, the Special Editions on LD and the box set on LD. Not to mention the DVD's. I am seriously considering selling the others and keeping my Blu-rays, that is how much I like them.

All the hoopla about the changes really did not effect my viewing experience.
Mr Lucas, thank you and that is all the money you are getting out of me.

This. By saying that if you don't like the PT, you don't like SW, you're saying that a large portion of fans aren't real fans. That's insulting, and it's an opinion, not a fact.

TPM wasn't too bad, not was ROTS, but AOTC was a piece of shit. Ironically, it was the first Star Wars film I ever owned legally on any home video format. It was the 4th DVD I ever owned, and was initially a blind buy. The BD has nice PQ, but the film is lacking.

Don't know if anyone has seen this, but here's an unboxing video of the Complete Saga set from Europe. I definitely think it's better packaging than North America got. The only question that I have on it is if the material that's in SD on the set is PAL or NTSC.

Personally I think the UK packaging just looks cheap. I love the American Packaging. It's compact, elegant and classy I feel compared to the plastic blue disc holders held together by a piece of packing tape lol

Just my opinion though.

I think the US set is not so bad if you only watch these movies once a year. When you are a nut case like me and can watch these movies up to 10 times a year after a while I would be concern I could do some damage to the disc. I think I will get myself some Blu-ray cases and store them in these with some sort of generic cover and keep the box set in a more secure location with the special features since these I wont watch that often anyway

I placed my entire Star Wars Saga into 3 separate blu-ray cases with custom covers!!!

I'm on my 3rd viewing of the extras for the OT. A lot of the info is available in book form, but I still absolutely love it. My youngest wishes to watch The Empire Strikes Back this afternoon.

The UK SW set and the US set have the same data (only the art is different), so the bonus features will be in 480i NTSC. The only time that European BDs have PAL SD extras is when a release is purpose-built by European companies for domestic sale only. World-wide releases like Star Wars (and Alien Anthology) always have NTSC SD extras, even if different countries' pressings have different languages included.

This is why I am using the 3 disc cases. 2 of my discs at scuff marks.

I remember how terrible the There Will Be Blood DVD case had been.

I like the new archivel commentary tracks with the cast and crew on all 6 films on the blu-rays it's so much better than the ones on the past dvd release. So much more insights into how to the films where made.
