BTW, Burt Reynolds passed up on the part to play Han Solo so he could do 'Smokey and the Bandit' instead.

There are a lot of actors that passed up good movies. They wanted Sean Connery to play Morpheus in The Matrix.

And lets not forget Connery's decision to pass up on playing Gandalf in LotRs so he could do 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen' instead.

I love Sir Ian Fleming's James Bond but I don't think he would've worked as either Morpheus or me. Burt Reynolds would've been awesome as Han Solo.

Yeah when you think about how some of these movies could of been it could of been very interesting. Nicolas Cage also turned down the role for Neo. Could you imagine Nicolas Cage as Neo, now that would be weird.

It’s interesting to note that Connery cost himself $400 million dollars by passing on the part (he was offered 15% of the film’s profit).

I believe that he knew what an incredible opportunity that he was passing on, because he commented that he did not want to spend around TWO to THREE years in New Zealand filming a movie.

I seriously doubt Connery was ever offered 15% of the gross of the Lord of the Rings. If so, no wonder Bob and Harvey and Disney bailed.

I really love Star Wars, I can't wait till next year. I bet it will be pretty spendy.

Well Ernest Rister all you need to do is look it up for yourself and you'll see.

Where did you see these scenes? I would love to see them.

The scenes were included on the "Star Wars: Behind the Magic" CD-Rom ages ago.

The ones in black & white with no sound?

EDIT: I think I was thinking of the footage of Luke watching the battle with his micro-binoculars.

Thumbs up

I would still love to see all of the deleted footage, nice and clean with FX and some kind of music... if possible. According to The Making of Star Wars (J.W. Rinzler) book, this footage had been cut out before given to John Williams or before the final mix of sound.

Source, The Making of Star War (J.W. Rinzler)

Page 230, 232 November 1976. Luke & friends are cut from film, along with Jabba the Hutt scene.

Page 264. March 5, 1977. John Williams begins recording soundtrack

True. I also have the CD-ROM. When they didn't put the deleted scenes in the trilogy boxset, that CD became one of my important items to keep.

Does anyone know for sure if there will be deleted scenes added back into the films this time around? I'm going to buy the blu's anyway, but that would really make me want them.
