I'll have to watch it back, I think it was the one on the left? All I remember is her looking so fake, everyone sort of had a shit eating grin at some point in that clip though lol.

He does explain the force much better there than in any of the 6 films. Which is kinda strange

I'm not nitpicking or trying really hard to see this DNR, though... it just jumps out at me. I find myself squinting at the picture constantly because it just doesn't seem like it's quite in focus. That's because DNR is eradicating fine detail, but my eyes are still searching for it.

AOTC was okay and ROTS was great. TPM is just scrubbed into ugliness.

Yeah, I get the idea there was a lot of idol worshiping around '94 onwards once he started his work on the PT and got a new crew together to begin the SE which let's face it, was more of a test to see how far he could take the special effects in the Prequels.

That new crew consisted of a lot young guys and girls who grew up watching Star Wars, and in the PT bonus features you see that pretty much every one of the young guys that came in to work on the PT all mention how much they loved Star Wars and that it's the reasson they are where they are today. So it's no wonder they are all yes men, I kow if I was working with the guy who made my childhood dreams come to life on screen I'd wanna suck up to him too.

But it does become dangerous to have no one there to say, "No" once in a while, other wise you start getting too cocky. The perfect example is when he talks about effects and how they are meaningless unless it is there to back up and drive the point of the story across to the viewer. I guess he forgot about that?

It is dangerous because there is nothing worst for a human to be worship by others, after a while, no matter how grounded you may be, you start to think you are more special then you may be or that your talent is actually greater then it may actually be and I have no doubt that in Lucas case it as happen. He seem to think he can do everything himself where it's clear he work's best when he sort of remain at the level of what Disney was, the HIGH BUBA that walk's around and inspire the others.

You keep saying that Lucas has the right. Yes he has the right since he owns Star Wars, but it doesn't make his revising better. Even if it is better, the UOT deserves... no, needs to be released if only for fans to see again how great Star Wars was for its time. There wouldn't be any outcry if Lucas cared about art and be less greedy.

Actually that point does not hold very well in your agument. If Lucas was greedy he would release the original as well as the special editions

But I have done no such thing. I have previously stated changes and alterations that I either like or am indifferent to.

In fact, after receiving my Blu-Ray Saga set, I checked out several scenes on the discs, including some of the new changes, and gave my thoughts on them, some good some bad....

... The full post is MUCH longer, click on the arrow in the above quote to go to that post to read it in full if you are interested.

Specifically, for example, I do mention the Ewok eyes as mostly being a good/nice change.

This just boils down to the point that you and many like you still look at this as being completely black and white.... people who hate 99.9% of what Lucas has done with the Special Editions and the PT vs. those who love 99.9% of it. And that's not the case at all. I've stated things that I've liked about it. Others such as El_Jay have done the same. Yet you keep coming back and saying things like, " it's that it has become cool or witty or whatever to bash everything that Lucas comes up with, period!" which just goes to show that you have not even remotely been paying attention. Congratulations on completely, 100% failing to see what is right in front of your face.

Whether you like it or not, the more that Lucas tinkers with these films, the more people will get frustrated. This isn't even solely people who like/prefer the UOT complaining anymore. There have been other people in this very thread who are younger, grew up with the altered versions, and are disappointed with some of the new changes. There are many shades of gray here... many different people with different opinions on what Lucas has done, liking and disliking different things.

When people have seen these films over and over again, of course these changes, which from a certain perspective may be minor, are going to stand out like a sore thumb and grab people's attention in a way that they wouldn't had they been there from the get-go. When you've seen a movie over and over again and have it just shy of memorized, little things like that will stick out like a sore thumb. It's just the nature of the beast.

If Lucas doesn't want this to keep happening, then he should make his absolute final adjustments/additions to the movies and be done with it once and for all. Ironically, while some people were, are, and still would be disappointed with some of the past changes (including some of those from the 2004 DVD set), the irony is that if this set had simply been the 2004 versions with no further changes short of the correcting of some of the problems (i.e. the lightsaber coloring) that occurred with the 2004 color timing, things probably wouldn't have blown up like they did over the new changes. But, they did, all because Lucas can't leave well enough alone. It may be his right to do this, but it is ill advised for a number of reasons.

Quote:
I'm defending Lucas for more than 12 years now and I find it really boring to always have to talk about special effects when we could talk about Philosophy, Psychology and Myth.
Oh well, too bad, so sad. It's not everyone else's job to cater the conversation to your specific preferences. Go start a thread in the movies section dedicated specifically to the philosophy, psychology, and myth of Star Wars. Maybe some people will join in.

Besides, atexp80's statement about how many people's frustrations are based in philosophy, etc, is right on the money. To many people, the greedo shooting scene changed the nature of Han's character in that scene. That IS philosophy based. People felt it was more symbolic and powerful to have Vader say nothing in saving Luke at the end of ROTJ, which is also more philosophy based and (as per a previous conversation) NOT special effects based.

See, once again, this is you over simplifying and over generalizing the nature of the complaints... painting all of the complaints and the people making them with the same brush, and completely failing to see the shades of gray. And even after we point these things out to you, somehow you quickly forget them and almost instantly revery back to these generalizations. Feel free to get back to us when you figure out how to comprehend basic, simple concepts such as this.

Just saw The Phantom Menace from start to finish. Well, in my opinion the PQ is really not that bad, details can still be found. I've seen the original Gladiator, now that's much worse. Overall the PQ I can give at least 3.5/5 and AQ is of course 5/5.

Attack of the Clones this weekend.

Watched episode I for the first time last night, I loved every minute of it. As awesome as Empire Strikes Back was I liked Phantom Menace more and it's now my favorite of the series and my favorite movie of all time.

Don't read further if you don't want to be spoiled:

*****SPOILER WARNING*****
*****SPOILER WARNING*****
The good:
1. So many robots, I love robots!!!!

2. Natalie was very sexy in this one.

3. Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan, and Darth Maul were so awesome!!

4. Zod is in this movie!

5. I really like the cgi work on Jar Jar Binks. I like him better than C-3PO.

6. Underwater scene was so cool!

7. The lightsaber duels in this movie makes the ones from the OT look like 80 year olds swinging dangerous swords in slow-motion. Way better than I could have ever hoped for, I had the biggest grin I've had in a while watching the duels in Phantom Menace.

8. I said I liked the work they did on the Yoda puppet on the OT but that was because I had never seen the PT. The CGI Yoda in Phantom Menace looks better than I could have imagined. I hope they replace the puppet in the OT in the next release.

9. The pod racing scene was by far the best scene I've ever seen in my life, not only visually but audibly too!

The things that could've been done better:
1. Liam Neeson's character has a hard name to remember. I had to look up his name on the credits.

2. The punishment scene for Jar Jar Binks could be shortened.

3. The scene where Queen Amidala pleads for help in the senate could be shortened.

I gave away all 3 "faces" LD's.

Worse,... I gave them to the Salvation Army which either threw them out or managed to sell them most likely to someone who had no idea what they were buying.

I can't stand LD video quality.... looks like sh i T. I will never watch a laserdisc agian. I still have 2 titles that will likely never go to DVD but I can't watch them because LD sux bad.

Watching The Attack of the Clones, I still don't understand why people hate this more than The Phantom Menace? Is it the romance scenes with Anakin and Padme that killed the movie for most people? It's really not that bad because Anakin is an awkward creepy dude in AOTC and in ROS. I don't think those romance scenes are supposed to be intentionally creepy and more likely poor delivery of cheesy lines, but still Anakin is a creepy dude and those scenes don't seem as bad to me. Watching an awkward creepy dude is pretty embarrassing and can make anyone uncomfortable watching it. I'm literally sickened when Anakin touches Padme's back before he busts a move with that first kiss. But besides those bretty awful romance scenes that do make the movie inferior, I still think Attack of the Clones has more powerful moments than The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith:

1. Out of all the prequels, it has the best human-to-human interaction without being distracted by CGI characters (as in Phantom). Obi Wan talking and fighting with Jango. Obi Wan talking to Dooku. The two most emotional scenes in all the prequels are in Attack of the Clones - Anakin reuniting with dying mother, and Anakin spazzing about him killing all the sand people to Padme - more natural and more powerful than Sith's "You are breaking my heart" and "I loved you like my brother".

2. The action scenes in Attack of the Clones are the most balanced, varied, and not overkill as with Phantom's endless pod-racing scene and Sith's endless Anakin vs. Obi Wan fight. Yes, Phantom has memorable fight scenes such as Phantom's Darth Maul and Sith's Yoda vs Palpatine, but the action just seemed more interesting in AOTC: Blade Runner-like chase scene, Jango vs. Obi Wan, Anakin vs. Tusken Raiders, conveyer belt factory scene, arena battle, Clone trooper battle, Dooku vs. Obi Wan, Anakin and Yoda.

Hayden Christianson does act better in Sith because he's a bit more mature and he's older. So I can understand why people like him more in Sith than in Attack of the Clones, but I think he's supposed to be awkward and creepy in Attack of the Clones because he's a teenager with problems.

And by the way, my Attack of the Clones blu-ray had no problems or glitches.

I was watching the deleted scenes last night and really sat in awe of the brillance of Han shooting first. It really is the worst thing Lucas could had done to the character of Han. It shows what a bad ass he is. Even left me chuckling a bit on how bad ass he is. Really hope Lucas changes his mind on this and puts it back in one day. As much as I love/hate some of the the other changes, this one has to be the worst decision ever. And no I will never let it go.

According to the Blu-ray Disc Association the spelling of "Blu-ray" is not a mistake, the character "e" was intentionally left out so the term could be registered as a trademark.

The correct full name is Blu-ray Disc, not Blu-ray Disk (incorrect spelling)
The correct shortened name is Blu-ray, not Blu-Ray (incorrect capitalization) or Blue-ray (incorrect spelling)
The correct abbreviation is BD, not BR or BRD (wrong abbreviation)
Source: https://www.blu-ray.com/faq/#bluray_name

What grinds my gears.... People who use the abbreviation BR.

I also like Clones and we had a blast watching it a few nights ago. The Kamino scenes are sweet. Yoda fights for the first time. The speeder chase is also very cool. Sure, the dialog in the love scsnes is dodgy - no arguments there but it doesnt ruin the movie. Ther droid factory scenes are lame though and could have been nuked. Otherwise.... Im lovin EP2!

Hey everyone, I have been digging through the extras on 7. Pretty cool overall.

Navigating the discs is EXTREMELY slow, is this just my player or everyone's?
