The '04 DVDs do look great, even if the colors are off.
But, I think Lucas will commission another remastering for the Blu Ray. Technically, he needs to go back and recolor time the Original Trilogy. Because of the rush job that was the '04 boxset, there's a lot of crush in those transfers, especially Episode IV, and some unfortunate color boosting problems... |

I hope Target does an exclusive special edition with all six Star Wars films packaged in a Millennium Falcon case.
![]() I would gag if they release them in a Yoda face-case, Jabba the Hutt stomach, Princess Leia brassiere, Jar-Jar Binks earwax, Chewie's nut sack (he loves cashews), Darth Vadar's lava-scorched lungs, or The Emperor's new clothes. ![]() |

I hope they include the original theatrical releases as well.
I don't care if it's through seamless branching or 2 separate discs, but I really didn't care for the changes made in the original trilogy (the music in Jabba's palace, Han shoots second, etc. although i didn't mind them putting Hayden Christiansan in at the end of Return of the Jedi) |

Well, from that link 3 pages back, one theory is that it was done that way on purpose to try to make them somewhat similar to the PQs. With George, who knows? But that would not surprise me at all. . |

Or said vocal minority demographic can get a life and accept what the creator of said universe says is the definitive version of said universe and live with it.

can you prove it's a "minority demographic", or are you just activating your Lucasbot Defense Mechanisms? Also, that cute little remark about "getting a life"? Might wanna retract that statement, judging by the looks of your room, friend.

Maybe it is a minority, maybe it's 8 people, who cares? What kind of freaky cult member even cares enough to be bothered by someone else wanting to buy a particular movie?

![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, I am a Vegan, so you would definitely lose that bet. ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a good point, and am still waiting to hear yours. ![]() 99% of the arguments I have heard against the SE OT and the PT are utterly retarded, and can't be taken seriously at all. If you follow your thoughts to the conclusion it's a place you cannot go. ![]() ![]() ![]() I am not saying any of the films are perfect, because they are not, but I honestly watched the Han/Greedo scene just recently and couldn't even clearly see who shot first, it happens so fast, so it really takes quite somebody to make such big a deal out of it, and that's only one of many instances. Listen to Yoda's advice: Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering! I sense much fear in you! ![]() |

Duffy,
I think that's part of the reason. But, the work was done in a hurry. Considering he was in the middle of working on Episode III, I don't think he really caught all the problems with the recoloring. I don't mind the recoloring actually. It's not drastic. But, in certain spots, it's taken too far, in terms of crush and color boosting. I've actually heard from a very reliable source (after Episode III was released) who had intimate knowledge of behind the scenes stuff at ILM that Lucas had be reworking the films for a box set release as early as 2006... The reason why I trusted the source was because during the spoiler days of the Prequels (especially at theforce.net), this guy's spoilers about story points for Episodes II and III were on the money, every time. How he got the info., I have no idea but the guy was money for six years.... |

Any movie represents a snapshot in time, it's you freezing a moment in time, which represents the experience of the filmmaker at that time, it represents popular culture at that time, it represents the level of technology at that time, and you know the Lord of the Rings movies that we made, they belong to 2001, 2002, 2003.
"They belong to those years and collectively our expierence as it was at that time. They would be different today. And you know, its not about making them different. I mean, those movies exist and they should stay the exact way they are." ~ Peter Jackson Wow talk about hitting the nail on the head. Star Wars belongs to Disco, The Death of Elvis, Jimmy Carter, Reggie Jackson....it belongs to the 70's and should be made available to those that saw it then and treasure it that way it was flaws and all. And the other two films belong to the 80's and what was happening at that time. Every Star Wars fan no matter what versions or trilogies you prefer should be in favor of QUALITY releases of all the different versions. Last edited by Flyfisherman; 05-18-2010 at 04:32 PM. |
