Found a way to fix the audio dropout...

...buy another player. Bought an S380 and am having it decode the DTS-HD MA track and no dropouts. Great player too. Faster than the S360 and much smoother navigation.

I agree. I think the OT is much better at mythological story telling, but like I said earlier, the PT is more like riding a roller coaster. When I'm watching it, I'm not trying to analize it, I'm just along for the ride.

I actually had the opposite reaction, doing the same thing 6 years ago. I noticed so many small things in different Episodes, that mirrored or expanded on something in a different one. I was blown away by it.

To be fair, this only seems to apply to movies. I have read (and wrote) a few helpful reviews for various other products on amazon.

I need to snag that, watched it on TV and was surprised that I actually found it to be genuinely funny while being kid-appropriate. Rarely do I find that kind of stuff funny. I liked the reveal at the end. Over-all a fun little short. But I ain't payin' 15 bucks for a 23-minute animation.

There is nobody by the name of Lapti Nek in ROTJ as far as I know. Sy Snootles sings the song, and Oola is the girl who gets tossed into the pit.

aaaaaaand, OK. I am tired of going through posts, so I am just going to leave it there. Didn't realize I would be going through 15+ pages of new posts when I came in here since last night.

Jesus god...30 pages in like 12 hours. Some of this is going overboard. I like this thread to be filled with substance! Lets get some of that back.

Public Service Announcement for the good of the populus ;;;

a) TPM petition idea is dumb and pointless... heres why..

3D release remaster is already done! Buy it in 2012 after the theatre re-release and substitute the disc in your complete saga set. It will likely not to be a DNR'd version. (or at least it will be a scrubbed version from 2010-2011 meaning better and higher scan rate had to be 4k) And remember 3D is 2D compatible!

So additionally complaining about ANY of the video blu specs is soo soo stupid. You know it was the lowry restoration, and you know the 3D releases are going to be NEW remasters and the definitive opportunity for bluray excellence! (and likely as any chance to be riddled with fixes to stuff originally done for the lowry restore era) ....So do as I am. Support the rereleases in cinema, and buy the 3D single releases that come out each year as they will be the absolute best 2D versions available also. Simple.

To expect a TPM replacement over DNR applied for HDTV transfers of the movie (CG yoda would been added over that), is lunacy. Go ahead and make the most pointless crusade of your lives.

b) Stop going on about audio drops for 25 pages. Clue up and use google to problem solve.

c) Stop putting misinformation like certain lines have dropped, and complaining incessantly that the changes make you angry/annoyed/indifferent.

I'm sure a lot of it is trolling.. however these are pointless viewpoints to argue for an against something that is completely out of your control and is already done and dusted. Wait for the 3D releases to put your "best case scenario" sentiments into words. I don't even believe boycott's and petitions could do anything. People like me who love the saga but don't obsessively mull over it, will drive its success forever. I love the spectacle and never really identify or got moved by the story (though atmosphere of sight and sound with blu did change that for this set somewhat)

Let me tell you how I believe Star Wars and in fact any creation would be best served by it's 'fans'.

================
Love everything about it that you do/can, and treasure those things. Disregard what you see negative, as the simple counter-balance to what you love. - If you are so bitter that you love nothing about it. Move along! You and the movie weren't worthy of each other in the first place.
================

I am against story revisionism, but not mere tweaks for quality control which is mostly what the SE's did. With PT he completed the back-history of something he had first set an outline for. You didn't like that part of it? So be it? That's the part that he says led to the part you did like.

I'm playing episode 3, and I've noticed the lack of bass on this one. I watched 1 & 2 already and the Audio was outstanding. I'm a little disappointed with the action scenes so far and lack of bass.

The Song in the original is called Lapti nek, and groovy number it was too!

I honestly think the mix is deficient, I think they screwed it up somewhere down the line. AOTC and TPM both sounded awesome, and they sounded totally consistent. ROTS is noticeably lacking in a lot of frequencies, especially the low ones.

I still need to find timestamps, but the dialogue often sounds tinny and lispy, with a little echo or something. It was particularly noticeable during certain Mace Windu scenes in approximately the middle of the movie. I will find timestamps later.

Glad I'm not the only one. I haven't kept up with this thread, but are others experiencing the same?

I'm only an hour into episode 3, but I feel disappointed and robbed after coming off from episode 1 & 2 where both were just amazing in sound.

In the book: "MYTHMAKING: BEHIND THE SCENES OF ATTACK OF THE CLONES" today. It has great info in it but the part I really thought was great was on page 91 where George talks about the infamous scene of Anakin and Padme by the fireplace:"Let's face it," Lucas admitted,"their dialogue in that scene is pretty corny. It is presented very honestly, it isn't toungue -in-cheek at all, and it's really played to the hilt But it is consistent not only with the rest of the movie, but with the over all Star Wars style. Most people don't understand the style of Star Wars. They don't get that there is an underlying motif that is very much like a nineteen thirties western or Saturday matinee serial. It's in that more romatic period of making movies and adventure films. And this film is even more of a melodrama than the others."

Here's a quote from Hayden:" When I first read the script, a lot of the dialogue felt contrived and forced, and I was like, ' Oh, there's no way that's going to work.' But there is a way of speaking in the Star Wars universe, and it is acceptable because it is another galaxy, far, far away. Even thought the themes are relevant to today, some of the dialogue is not-it's not supposed to be." I definitely agree. It's like a foreign film from France, China, Mexico, or India. The style of acting and dialogue is completely different from English language ones and might be funny but it's the way it is.

BTW, on a side note, it bugged the hell out of me that Lucas relied on CGI to do the yellow eyes for Palpatine in ROTS instead of contacts. It looked really fake.
So.. what's in Sidious?

Precisely my feelings. I don't even have a good sound system for reference (), but the mix was very obviously lacking to me, since I watched the prequels all back to back. TPM and AOTC were bombastic, lots of bass, but everything was crisp, clean, clear, well-spaced and properly mixed.

Many others are reporting problems, but predictably others are saying they don't have any problems with "their" copy or the like. One gentleman even insists that the mix was deliberately neutered to create continuity with the original trilogy ()...

It's been mentioned in some reviews and by a lot of users, though. It's definitely not just you.

See if you notice some tinny/lispy dialogue as well, in particular some of Samuel L. Jackson's scenes. I heard it clearly at home but I haven't heard anyone else mention it.

That would all be fine and dandy if the OT was like that.

Not even Princess Leia sounds stiff and formal and stilted.

Han speaks like a regular everyday guy, and that is part of what the PT is lacking. They don't have just a regular Joe you can identify with that lets you identify with this world a little more. Most people are trying too hard to sound a certain way that doesn't really resonate.

The first Matrix is a good example of this. Reeves is just a regular guy adjusting to all of this craziness, he talks like a regular guy, he makes sarcastic remarks... then in 2 and 3 he's just a robot, and we lose that link to the "real world" that made the first one so endearing. I dunno why this point seems to be lost on so many filmmakers.
