I have no problem with him disliking SW. He's an actor and it was just a job for him. On the other hand, being rude and pissy about it is rather stupid and petty.

Sure, you hate the writting, cool I can understand that! What I don't get is why are you still here if you hate it so much? I found the writting and story for Avatar weak, lame and lazy. You don't see me in the thread complaining aobut it at every other post. So why if you find it so horrible are you still here?

Ah yes! The right to complaint since others have the right to lile it.

She's much improved after taking off all that weight but what's going on with the corner of her mouth? I don't mean it in an insulting way but I noticed it during that interview. The corner of her mouth is pulled down and you can even see the muscle in the neck flexing/pulling at it. I've never heard of her having a stroke but it reminds me of the mouth of a stroke/nerve palsy patient.

Maybe she had a facelift after the weight loss. Or just had the skin around her neck tightened up so it wouldn't sag.

He had a history of being that way with kids? I wasn't aware of that. That definitely makes him look like an ass. I thought it was just an isolated incident with the one kid in San Francisco where he asked him to stop watching the film and upset the boy and his mother with his comments.

I can understand telling a kid that seeing a film 100 times at the theater is overdoing it but I wouldn't do it in a rude way. Of course, I would be a complete hypocrite considering how many times I've watched these films throughout the years.

Maybe you're right. It just looks unusual to me in that corner though, like something's wrong.

She's an admitted drug user. Even if she's clean now, that sh!t can take a toll on your health. The twitch/tick could be an after effect from the years of abuse.

This one time was not the only incident, there was multiple events of him telling kids to forget Star Wars, to read books, to see other movies.....he sounded extremely bitter about the entire situation. He could have done the same thing but by being nice about it doing stuff like "Yes Obiwan is a serious knight, he studied a lot. What about you my young friend, do you like to read? What are your favorite books? Never pass the chance to expand your views, like Obiwan would do". In any case, it was his life and he was free to act as he choose but it's to bad he went about it the way he did.

It's done pretty good for a set which is surrounded by controversies, which 20% of the fans base said they would not buy, at a price of $80+. It probably did a lot better then was expected a month ago before the release.

Very true. Look at those before and after pictures of meth users. Scary.

I agree with you completely. Even if he didn't like Star Wars or the thought of kids getting carried away with it, it would have been much wiser to be kind about it and use it as a teaching/advising tool as you described. Good points.

I believe it was Guinness's idea. After he was overwhelmed (negatively) by the reaction to Star Wars, he wanted little to do with it as possible, and asked that his role be reduced. GL could say whatever he wants about this being his idea, but for a guy who changes his mind about his film's "vision" every Monday and Thursday, I'd take that with a pound of salt.

Holy crap! I only just realized that this was the real Carrie Fisher. It looked like a fatsuit makeup kind of thing for an SNL skit or something.

So what? The Empire recycles the uniforms. These things are expensive!

And as for the blast marks in cloud city: Lando had visitors to whom he owed money and they wanted to collect the debt with force. Think, man, think!

Finally finish AOTC last night. It's been slow going this week. I thought the PQ of AOTC was much improved over TPM, particularly the arena and clone battles at the end. AQ was again through the roof

Ready for ROTS tonight

You're thrown into a strange, exotic world where you have to figure out the rules as you go along. A version of the prequels by the haters would be terrible! The Anakin / Shmi dynamic is the most important part of Episode 1.

There's nothing "embarassing" about this for me. If anything, you are embarassing yourself. Your posts are just becoming more and more of a farce each time you put one up! It's hilarious witnessing the ongoing trainwreck that is your views on this Saga.

While there is plenty of symbolism, etc, in these films, you are looking so hard for it that at times you are creating it in your own mind where at times there is none. At the end of the day, regardless of any intetional or (on your part) perceived ad hoc symbolism, these are basically meant to be simple, fun popcorn movies. Not this source of "wisdom" that you keep building them up to be. You are putting these films on such an absurd pedastal that it's not even funny. You are almost treating them like the basis for an actual religion that you follow or something. Even most of the other people who tend to be on the extreme end of the "Pro-PT/Saga" side of the arguement aren't taking anywhere near as seriously as you are.

As far as this virgin birth thing goes, this isn't an issue of the source of the concept or how many other times it has been used. The problem is that Anakin is raised on a pedastal little more reason than he is going to become Darth Vader and he is important to us as the audience.

And never once in the OT is this "chosen one" thing even brought up. You would think that would have come up at some point when Luke was talking with Obi Wan and/or Yoda. The idea that his father was meant to destroy the Sith but instead became one (prior to destroying the Emperor in ROTJ) seems like a pretty big piece of info that they probably should have queued Luke on after the truth of Vader being his father was revealed. Instead he was just a Jedi that they were close to who was seduced by the dark side of the force.

The chosen one was something shoe-horned in after the fact to make him more important than he was ever built up to be.

The funny thing about your comment about how terrible a version of the PT by the "haters" would be is that if Lucas had instead come up with a version more similar to that, you'd be defending it left and right. Like I said previously, if Lucas were to change these films where all of the spoken verbally spoken dialogue was put into subtitles, with the voices removed and replaced by the sounds of cats meowing, you would be defending it up and down to no end, and coming up with how there's some "wonderful symolism" in that change.

I'm also not saying that I hate everything about the PT. I posted some thoughts about the films in an earlier post mentioning things that I liked. And having recently rewatched them in full, there are many aspects that I did enjoy, and had fun watching them again (particularly Episodes II and III.... I was okay, but still the film that I like the least). There are still some gaping flaws in the films in my opinion, and that's just the way that it's going to be. Visually the films are impressive, it's just too bad the directing of the dialogue and acting wasn't better, and that a few things weren't more well thought out.

But feel free to keep collectively calling everyone that criticizes anything about the films "haters" (I and a few others already 100% debunked your previous stupid sweeping generalizations about how everyone complains about effects-based changes, but pointed out how some weren't changes in effects and that many changed the dynamic and possible symbolism of certain scenes), and keep skipping over the positive views that are at times expressed. You've been doing an awesome job of completely missing the point ever since you started posting here. I don't expect that the change anytime soon. May the force be with your continued train-wreck postings!
