New line of discussion.
What's everyone's favorite song from the SW flicks? Though I love me some Imperial March and Duel of the Fates, nothing quite does it for me like: When the whole orchestra swells up for that last few bars before the end theme kicks in, it's very emotional. Part of it is because I equate it with the end of Empire, which is far and away the best and my favorite SW movie, but I mean that melody is just incredible and the buildup is fantastic. I think that lame 'Pomp & Circumstance' graduation song should be replaced wholesale by the Rebel Fleet/End Title. ![]() |

![]() The newer piece is fine, though, it's a nice wrap-up to the movie and suits all the scenes of other planets celebrating etc... even though those scenes were jarring because of the CG and being obviously made 20 years later, and also never seeing a single civilization even close to as big as any of the ones pictured there in the OT... a little jarring. Speaking of Jedi, I will admit that I really had to employ the use of my Rose-Tinted Nostalgia Glasses +1 to fully enjoy it on this viewing. There is a lot more clunker dialogue than I remember as a kid, worse performances than in Empire, script is cheesier... plus the Ewoks never really bothered me as a kid but on this viewing, my god, wtf... they aren't "annoying", or anything, it's just stupid that a bunch of Little People in bear suits were taking out a heavily armed garrison with rocks and sticks. I mean a 45-lb Little Person swings into me on a vine, he's going to tickle me, he isn't going to knock me unconscious. How did they have the time to make all these elaborate traps? Why does it usually look like nobody is actually being hit in that whole battle? Why would a rock knock fully-armored Stormtroopers unconscious? What the **** is the point of Han tapping that guard on the shoulder and making him run around the corner to where the rebels were waiting?! ![]() Overall the movie is still a childhood classic, the Luke/Darth/Emperor stuff is good, Yoda is good, I still like most of Jabba's Palace (we will not speak of Jedi Rocks... UGGGGGH), but overall, it's quite shocking how much better 'Empire' is on every level judged by every objective measurement, than every other Star Wars movie. I feel like A New Hope is the only one that comes close, and that's because it's pretty minimalist. Last edited by El_Jay; 09-25-2011 at 10:50 AM. |

I'll tell ya El_Jay, I wish I could defend Jedi but your points stand. For me Jedi is a heavy dose of "big dumb fun". I just love it and it reminds me of one of the greatest summers of my life. Also, I'll take the Ewoks over the Gungans any day.

![]() You're supposed to be impressed by his wisdom, not him doing ****ing backflips and swordfighting unrealistically. I prefer the look of puppet Yoda in Empire to the CG versions. Feel free to gauge the importance of a character by how many stupid action scenes he's involved in, but I won't join you. Last edited by El_Jay; 09-25-2011 at 11:13 AM. |

Back then i'm sure it was impressive, it isn't now after the PT, at least in my opinion, and I'd find it hard to believe that after seeing Yoda in the PT most people new to Star Wars wouldn't be disappointed in the OT Yoda.

Im not buying this. No way.
I dont mind changes to a film as long as they dont mess up the scene. Ewoks blinking, CGI Yoda in Pt 1, Lightsaber color-adjustment, no problem. But RD2D behind a rock where he couldn't possibly get behind and in the next shot its gone, makes NO sense at all. WHY?! The biggest insult for me, is Vader's "nooooo"! The power of that scene IMO lies in the fact that Vader watches Luke's suffering in silence. With the camera slowly closing in on him. Makes you wonder what he's thinking of, what's going on behind the mask. The "Nooooooooooooooooo" totally ruins the scene. Its stupid. Last edited by crazyBLUE; 09-25-2011 at 12:33 PM. Reason: word |

Then you would unleash an unending perpeto mobile of remakes because by the time the ROT (remade original trilogy) is done, the prequels are outdated - so you'd have to remake them too... These 6 movies are so rich in specific detail that a remake would have to be almost a carbon copy. For a successful remake , where you can actually explore new areas of the material it is to well fleshed out already. A good movie to be remade in the future would be "Escape From New York" IMO because you just got Snake Plissken and future-Manhattan as a playground - the rest can be explored freely.

I just finished Return of the Jedi, and gotta say, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
First of all, the video quality looked in some scenes like it was DVD-quality. For example, when Luke and co. were trying to get to Endor in an imperial shuttle, those shots where we saw Luke's face looked just terrible. And Vader's "Nooo!" was horrible, just horrible. **** you George Lucas. For positive changes I can say that lightsabers looked excellent! The audio wasn't as impressive as in previous two movies either, in my opinion, it was the same level as in Revenge of the Sith. |

I have never heard of this! To remake the OT is just as ludicrous as demanding the restoration of the UOT... These 6 movies play really, really well together. Why should I choose one trilogy and ignore or remake the other?
