Yeah. It's crazy on here. It really is. To each his own, but man.....

When I see stills of Yoda on set from the ESB I sometimes cannot believe how REAL he looks. I just stare. It is astounding the amount of life that puppet is imbued with.

To me Yoda was always an amazing creation because he was so powerful with the force, BUT wasn't a sword-wielding jedi. The "great warrior" thing was turned on its head. Then Lucas turned it back again. Sad. It was nice to have this different, zen view of the force. Yoda shouldn't have even been in the PT. He should have been referred to, but Mace should have assumed his role in the PT.

I'd request that you stop before we start getting into how much he loves Jar Jar and hates Boba Fett.

What's astounding about Yoda in ESB is his character - he plays it goofy, dark, grim, putting in little bits of joy, jest, disappointment, on and on. He had gravitas, and the puppet was awesome. I watched it a few nights ago and was really reminded of how expressive that thing was, and, as I said before, the gravitas that the character carried. He didn't speak ass-backwards to the point of annoyance either.

I like this part of the trivia section of 2001 on the imdb:

Quote:
In the premier screening of the film, 241 people walked out of the theater, including Rock Hudson who said "Will someone tell me what the hell this is about?" Arthur C. Clarke once said, "If you understand '2001' completely, we failed. We wanted to raise far more questions than we answered."

Star Wars Episode V Soundtrack - Rebel Fleet/End Title - YouTube

When the whole orchestra swells up for that last few bars before the end theme kicks in, it's very emotional.

Part of it is because I equate it with the end of Empire, which is far and away the best and my favorite SW movie, but I mean that melody is just incredible and the buildup is fantastic.

I think that lame 'Pomp & Circumstance' graduation song should be replaced wholesale by the Rebel Fleet/End Title.
I didn't have any problems with "yub yub", but I really prefer this one.

OT Yoda. One of the greatest practical effects in cinema history.

It's as funny as the irony you miss by posting that, since a pot & kettle association seems the most appropriate.

I see it more as an unconventional performance (by the great Frank Oz) than a "special effect".

Indeed. The Muppet is obviously very limited. It wouldn't ever have been able to convincingly walk, for example or swing a lightsaber or toss the rod up for Luke to chop. Much less do a flip or twirl. It was a great effect for it's day... just like the AT-AT. CGI today could do it better, though. I see it's best utility as being a stand in for the actors to act with while CGI is for the audience.

You guys are so concerned with Yoda swinging lightsabers and doing twirls that youre missing the point of what his character is supposed to stand for.

Just finished my favorite of all, ROTJ! Have to say the added dialog from Vader just before tossing the Emp off to his final destiny was a bit of a shock!

could have said,,,,

" I,,,,,,HAVE-HAD,,,,ENOUGH,,, OF,,,, YOUUUUUUUU!!!!!!"

LOL!

If he can do flips and such WHY does he need a cane in the PT? I never understood that.

It must be for some kind of benefit fraud

Although if the benefit inspectors see Yoda doing those backflips he may be in trouble !

He either used the force to make himself stronger for a short period of time or he uses the old weak old guy routine to catch possible enemies off guard. After all, he pretended to be some kind of idiotic weirdo when he first met Luke and only revealed himself as what he really was later on.

I don't "Hate" Boba Fett. I'm indifferent to him. The fandom for him makes no sense.

He does NOTHING in the entire Saga. And dies to a Blind Man. It's clearly a love of style over substance.

Hell, until the Prequels.... Boba didn't even have a legitimate character in a lot of ways.

I am sort of with you on this....I mean I understand if your love for him also extend from the fact that you read the books or comics (where his character is much more look into in details) but most people here claim they want nothing to do with the EU, so I am at a lost as why they should make Boba Fett into some sort of cool bad guy. Plus I am sorry, the way he get's kill sure does not make out to be amazing bad guy

Indeed. Frankly Jango was actually more bad ass than Boba Fett could even dream of. Boba's a poor copy, literally.

He was killing Jedis and stood toe to toe with Obi-Wan Kenobi. Sure he lost his head to Mace due to Rocket Pack malfunction, but still kicked ass.

Yeah, I'm sure Luke learned how to swing a lightsaber and jump flip from discussion on how life creates the force and luminous beings yada yada.
