except neither of these are as unexplainable as A TON OF METAL falling "gently" (lol) on someones legs.

And the Empire finding the rebel base isn't some kind of mystery...the Admiral explains it when Vader approaches him.

After watching the Beerfest blu-ray last night, it seems that it may have been used for the benchmark for PQ for the PT, especially TPM.

I agree with this. It's like those people in the movie theaters...

"Why did they do that? Oh, wait, was it because... nooo. Now why is SHE doing THAT?! I thought she was good?!"

If they just shushed and paid attention to the entirety of a film and let all the details unfold and let the answer come out in the culmination, they'd know exactly what was going on. Films are not meant to be micro-managed, one scene at a time. Films are meant to be taken in their entirety.

That being said, even if certain little things don't make a lot of sense, who cares? It's a movie. We're talking about a film where we've got a bunch of alien creatures running around and pod racing, 'knights' use laser swords, people can move aircraft with the wave of their hand, and a big station in the sky is destroying planets with a single shot. We're obviously in it for the fantasy, and Star Wars fans are SO guilty when it comes to picking everything apart, calling 'this' or 'that' silly. Isn't it silly enough anyway, when you think about it?

After watching these movies the last two weeks, I just though of a new drinking game to go along with watching all of them-

Every time a sunset appears in a film, you have to take a swig.

The problem is that by the time you make it to the OTs, you will be thoroughly wasted.

[Show spoiler]

George sure LOVES sunsets.

I had wondered how 'Beast' had become a 'Blu-ray Knight' so fast.

Thanks.

And I am kinda surprised that BlueYoda is so high since he usually quotes a lot of posts into a single post.

Except it won't work. Heat/Energy needs a medium to dissipate, in a vacuum it just stays where it is (that's why thermos flasks work, because of the vacuum between the inner and outer shell). They would need to vent some kind of cooling fluid through the radiators to get rid of the heat but then they would leave trails behind. Of course that point is moot with all the sound effects and spaceships flying like planes through air.

I figured the S Coils went to attack position because it looked cool and it made it sound like something was about to happen...

That's generally how I think about most of the stuff that goes on in Star Wars.

These films aren't science fiction, not in a "pure" sense (I don't buy this stuff; I'm just repeating what a prof once told my class). Because they don't explain every bit of the universe scientifically, they're just space drama. And I think Lucas admits that they're space opera, not science fiction. So I just figure "S Coils" = "Upping the ante" = "Big space battle".

I've never thought about the science of Star Wars. It's Star Wars. Give me a break.

I did think that and was thinking hydrogen. Being fairly advanced tech, I could see it being pretty efficient. Wouldn't need to be visible trails, either.

Eh, I think with enough thrust (and they clearly have a lot unless it's actually a half or so between going to orbit and coming down, etc) that I don't think we need current tech pitch/yaw/roll maneuvers like B5... being vector based, though, I would have liked to see an X-wing spin around and point it's guns to the rear while inertia carried it down the trench...

Maybe Lucas will do something like that in the Super Extended Special Edition.

I'm just posting to keep up!

As for the nitpicking of movies how is that any different from finding a deeper meaning in the subtext and mythology? We're just trying to finder a deeper level of understanding in the occasional plotholes or gigantic metal platforms that don't cut Jedi's in two....

Everytime I watch that I think Obi-Wan survived that? I think he must have had CGI legs for the rest of the movie! That's we he disappears in A New Hope! He's CGI, he doesn't become one with the Force he just has his file erased....

Sure it does. But that's thermal radiation. Now think how hot the sun is and how much of that heat reaches us. Not very effective, is it? If you want to stop heat energy from getting soaked up by surrounding materials, which eventually will overheat and be destroyed, you need a much more effective method of dissipation. That's why there is cooling fluid in your car instead of just hoping for the heat to radiate off on its own through the thin medium of air.

SO it will take you about 18 hours to get drunk? lol
Best is to play to beer fest, every time they drink you drink, its pretty much impossible to make it an hour into the movie.

They have been placed at the end of all 6 of the films after the credits.
