She mentions a prequel and Mark Hamill mentions a trilogy which will go back and tell the story of Obi Wan. Did you even watch the video? It doesn't mean anything was set in stone, but they sure made it sound like there was talk of prequels.

I do apologize, I'm tired.

But the point I'm trying to get at is that this guy was saying that Harrison was approached to do a prequel, in the same way that somebody approached Lucas to do a prequel... both accounts of which are wrong.

This video, if anything, only shows that Harrison KNEW he wouldn't be in the prequels. And as far as his point that somebody approached Lucas to do the prequels? That's just proposterous.

Wasn't there talk of 12 films, and then it got switched to nine. I have heard rumor about 12, never found article links, I have found articles in the past saying there would be 9

I remember when I was really young hearing the same thing - 12 films. Of course, it was all just pretty much rumor. It's kind of odd to hear as of late though that this may actually happen someday. It doesn't really seem like there's anything to tie the stories together... what with everything resolved.

They could make three more set far in the future that have nothing really to do with the first six beyond taking place in the same galaxy. I wouldn't mind seeing something like that if it is written and directed by someone other than Lucas.

I actually wouldn't mind if Lucas came up with the general story-arc overview... and let someone else write the story based on those ideas, while letting someone else direct and keep Lucas as far away from script tweaking and storyboarding as possible!

That would be okay, too. Isn't that what basically happened with ESB and ROTJ?

Host: /snip/ Three years ago /snip/ I remember talk of a sequel or even a prequel maybe.

Harrison Ford: It gets really confusing after awhile doesn't it?

/snip/

Mark Hamill: It just so happens that the trilogy after the next film will go 20 years earlier and tell of the young Alec Guinness character and how darth came to power, and then we wouldn't be involved in those because our characters are just... little different.

Host: So this is it for you guys?

Harrison Ford: The third one

Host: Alright

Harrison Ford: Which we haven't made yet.

The host interrupts Mark Hamill as he is talking and showing the height of characters. He doesn't say what characters which will be "just..little different". He says our characters, which could have meant they were going to have the role, but they wanted shorter persons. They are talking about prequels. Mark Hamill is without any doubts talking about a prequel trilogy.

It was never anymore than ONE film... until after SW was a hit. There was no storyline for films beyond SW... there were many ideas but nothing set in stone.

It's been common knowledge since 1981 that George Lucas planned to do a prequel trilogy. This is when he added "Episode IV: A New Hope" to the opening crawl of Star Wars.

Imagine the possibilities if George had spent those 18 years perfecting the story of the rise of Vader. The prequels could have been great. Instead George Lucas forgot about them until 1994 when he realized that Star Wars was still popular and he could make a lot of money. Thus he begat the half-baked mess that is today known as the Prequel Trilogy.

Imagine if he had dictated the script and never read any of it.

I haven't been keeping up with this thread, I've had my set for a few weeks now but haven't gotten around to actually watching any of the films yet since I have so many other Blu's to go through and very little time because of work these days. So I just wanted to ask.... Was there any fans who were pissed off about the changes made to these movies that actually ended up thinking they weren't too bad after finally watching the actual Blu-rays?.

Apparently, when plot holes, inconsistencies and plain mistakes exist in a fantasy movie, logic doesn't need to apply.

Correct: if you believe in rocket ships or talking dragons you become contractually obligated to believe absolutely anything. It's actually on the back of every movie ticket in really, really, really, really small print.
