I'm being patient - I'm waiting for it to get down around $50.

Default US 50 is max i would pay for it

50 is max i would pay for the set,as i'm mainly interested in the bonus 3 blu's,there is some new stuff on them, not really interested in the movies, they are the "butchered" versions wich i hate, and i dont see anny other way in getting those 3 discs apart from buying the whole set

Just watched Episode III my favorite of the prequels and tied for third with ROTJ for my favorite SW film. It is a worthy predecessor to the OT and possibly one of the greatest prequels ever. The way it sets up A New Hope is bound to please even the diehards. With characters like Chewbacca, gold plated C-3PO, Luke & Leia, and Darth Vader himself. It all came together naturally but still had a very serious dark tone. Is there any other scene in all the SW films like the death of the Jedi? That scene was very powerful how those great warriors were assassinated. The AQ/VQ is one of the best that BD has to offer. Very happy with the set so far. Now to watch Ep IV.

My least favourite to most favourite episodes:

1. A New Hope (long and drawn out)
2. Phantom Menace (a bit too childish)
3. Return of the Jedi (awesome, apart from the ewok stuff)
4. Attack of the Clones (excellent)
5. Empire Strikes Back (even better)
6. Revenge of the Sith (the best!)

Just finished New Hope. Amazing transfer! The newly restored scenes blended in much better this time around then when I saw this in theaters in 97. And I must say I prefer this version over the 77 theatrical edition. The Han Solo/Greedo scene is actually more preferable. This time it appears that they both fire at the same time and Greedo misses. I never liked the fact that Greedo was blown away without firing a single shot. The movie did seem to drag right before the Kenobi/Vader duel but picked up right away with the aerial dogfight/Death Star battle. The ending is one of the greatest. Seeing the Falcon lay waste to Vaders armada is priceless! Harrison Ford really carried this film IMO. This movie would not have worked without him. Now I might watch Episode I as a look back saga style viewing to set up the Emperors origin.

Uhh.... ruthlessly killing Greedo is what makes Solo a badass. He redeems himself by assisting in the Deathstar Attack.

Lucas remixing it AGAIN should be enuff to see that he screwed up the character continuity.

I prefer the selfish and desparate pirate instead of the PC remix.

Finished PM and the transfer was great. I don't know what people are complaining about. Also just watched ESB and it was another great transfer that I can't complain.

Australia Happy days are here again!

Panasonic finally released a firmware update yesterday (2.7) for Oceania/Thai and South East Asia, which is the region we fall into in Australia.
I’ve just tested the two problematic scenes in Attack of the Clones (with Annakin’s mum and at the forward command post with Yoda) and they play through fine.

The prequel trilogy really ages like milk, if you already didnt care for it before you will find yourself absolutely hating it with a passion. When viewed as a complete saga the smelliness of the prequels unfortunately infects the original trilogy and makes it seem alot less than it was. The feel of adventure and magic has been replaced with a sense of utter silliness and desperation on the part of George Lucas to redefine what was already viewed as being a legendary classic into Biblical status and fall utterly on his face in the process. My advice to those who still cherish the original trilogy would be to get the complete soundtracks by John Williams, listen to them, and then remember.

2 months on and I still haven't bought this set and I am still pleased I haven't.

I still haven't seen the PT since it was at the cinema and then a couple of times upon their DVD release - and nothing in this thread has changed my mind about rewatching them. Everything I read about the PT reminds me how much I hate it, the PQ of the PT on BD hasn't been encouraging enough for me to sit through 6+hrs of that c**p

Once the price of the set comes WAY down (I don't care if that's in 2 yrs) I may get it as a curio, otherwise if I ever want to watch it I have my almost-UOT DVD sets.

I would consider getting the new OT on BD but again, the price has to come WAY down (and I'll still be hitting mute at a certain scene)

why bitter for this set, i mean yeah Lucas had made tweaks with the original trilogy but I guess he made it for the new generation of fans. Its the era of CGI but I'm still thinking he made this to form the whole Star Wars into life. Man its hard to dwell if you grew up with Star Wars. Well there are still the original VHS copy of this one and watch it maybe.

Get over it and get the BD set. It's superior in every way to the ancient and inferior VHS.

I cancelled my pre-order at the time the moment it was known the original unaltered trilogy was not included, but i have seen PM on blu at a friends place on a 90" screen,65D calibrated,1.0 gain and it doesnt fare well tbh,i was stunned a bit as i never expected a "new" movie to look like this, and surprised this blu got approval by lucas since he is "so picky about video and audio quality one says...."(audio was awesome btw on this movie)
btw...have you seen what prices are asked for the dvd set with the non-anamorphic originals....its nearly 200 bucks for it on amazon right now,so i leave the imagination how valuavble they gonna become and are allready!
ill wait for the price to drop on the blu's set just to get those 3 bonus discs, new things on them i do not have on anny dvd for that matter,as for the movies themselves,no interest whatsoever, they are not the ones i want to see,ill stick to my "high value" non anamorphic set and let my oppo 93 do the scaling, that chip inside is state of the art and delivers the good
