Anybody that has lost sleep over any of the changes needs to seek professional psychological help. I know it is a big deal for many, and I can remember the first time I saw Star Wars before any "episode" was attached to it. I am sure it was something that made me love movies as much as I do now. But the man owes people nothing. If I want to put a second floor on my house, I should be able to even if it is a registered historical home. Trust me, I would like all versions, but if I just get the changed versions that is OK with me. And I bet 99.999% of the people that signed petitions will buy it anyway.

I'm one of those who wished they would have changed it more. I've gone on record many times wishing for the total updating of the light saber effects in all three OT films. I also wished they redo all the handblaster laserbolt blasts in at least ANH and TESB. And perhaps some of the spaceship blasts if necessary. I realize that that would be a very time consuming and tedious job, but it'd go a long way to fully update the three OT films.

Hell, I wouldn't mind if they'd insert a whole new CG created scene in TESB of the Imperial Troops and Vader fighting their way into the Hoth Rebel Base. So instead of the intercom voice over of "Imperial Troops have entered the base" we'd get to see that skirmish.

Wow talk about hitting the nail on the head. Star Wars belongs to Disco, The Death of Elvis, Jimmy Carter, Reggie Jackson....it belongs to the 70's and should be made available to those that saw it then and treasure it that way it was flaws and all.

And the other two films belong to the 80's and what was happening at that time.

Every Star Wars fan no matter what versions or trilogies you prefer should be in favor of QUALITY releases of all the different versions.
Hello! Welcome to earth!!! Isn't Peter Jackson having Weta insert the latest Gollum in the first part, at least???? Isn't he revising that??

Btw., is he some sort of almighty god??

I don't give a hell's bell what that dude says, and obviously not even he does, so please just write an e-mail to George to complain.

Your points are laughable at best.

If that's the case then 'Adywan's star wars fan edit' would be for you, because he did that plus a whole hell of a lot more for IV. He is working on V now and should be done real soon.

Adywan's Star Wars Revisited (10 of 13)

Adywan's Star Wars Revisited (11 of 13)

Adywan's Star Wars Revisited (12 of 13)

Now that's the way you re-edit a movie for the better.

I, for one, certainly wouldn't mind further updates either, but it's not really up to us, so anything will be fine by me, as long as they are presented in the best possible quality ever!

I love American Graffiti , but it can't be compared to SW or THX. It's a completely different film. Just yesterday, while watching Say Anything on BD, I started to miss it so much!

One of my favorite G.L. movies. He,he

I can't wait for it to be available on Blu-ray!

A true classic!

So in short you just like to complaint to waste your time. In short that is telling me that you don't really care about the originals, you don't care if they get release or not, you just want to complaint.
What's worse, someone wasting their time complaining, or someone wasting their time complaining against those who they believe are wasting their time?

Or me, who just wasted my time pointing out that you are wasting your time telling people they are wasting their time?

That said, the studios do look at these forums, that's a fact. Might it make a change? Probably not. But it's a valid discussion on this forum, just like any potential Blu-ray release. Let's leave the moderating up to the mods, that's probably the best idea.

Unlike a house, a Blu-ray can have multiple versions of a film.

Yes, but where are they to be found in 1080p? That's why some fans want the original versions on Blu-ray.

I just watched Episode I on DVD last night and I don't know if it's just because I am used to Blu-ray now or what, but the picture quality was TERRIBLE ! Tons of problems all over the place.

More importantly though I couldn't even make it all the way through the movie in one sitting, it was terrible. I remember liking it when I was younger, but it has not held up well at all. The characters are all annoying, the acting is terrible, the special effects are nothing special and the story is far too convoluted.

I hope Episodes II & III hold up better. I haven't seen them since 2005, so I guess we'll see !

To a point it is correct. The company I work does it for corporations. They pay us to give them reports on whenever one of their properties is mentioned. They use the info for market analysis and stuff like that.

II is worse than I imo. At least Episode I used actual sets and the Maul/Obi fight. AOTC looks like one big XBox video game with real people inserted.

I agree with that. The last time I watched it I was kind of like wow I could have sworn this looked a lot better before.

Exactly. They aren't watching this site and doing whatever we say we want, LOL, but they are looking. Most major corps (and minor ones too) either outsource or have internal people who collect feedback from websites like this. Now what they do with the information is obviously up to a million other factors, but they are reading what people have to say.

Episode II's "problems" are more complicated than just the overuse of CG.

First and foremost, yes, Lucas pushed ILM on the visual effects side when the company wasn't quite ready for that work load. Three years later, ILM was ready and the visual effects of Episode III were the result (best looking Star Wars film by a mile).

Second, and this was the biggest problem, the first generation digital cameras used for Episode II were not ready for prime time like the cameras used for Episode III. It's almost startlingly the jump in overall look with the cameras between II and III. It's basically night and day...

Episode II will always be the film in the Saga that's going to look off. Lucas can fix the visual effects now that the technology has caught up with what Lucas wanted to do in that film. But, unfortunately, the cameras used is the main culprit.

Lucas will do what HE feels is right/correct and doubt that .0001% of hardcore fanatics will change his mind or persuade him to do anything. He's like Steve Jobs & will do as he pleases. All his DVD releases did sell very well after all so why cater to .0001% of fans.
They're his stories, not ours.
