Yeah, me too. Right when I fired up ANH I knew things were gonna be good as far as PQ and AQ were concerned. They've never looked or sounded better. Period.

The Greedo scene is much cleaner this time around for the BD release. The DVD version still makes my eyes bleed.

You are not losing any sound info on a 5.1 system, it is just folded into the 5.1 mix, but with less dimensionality. Conversely, if you are watching a 5.1 movie on a 7.1 system, you can extrapolate the extra channels using PLIIx, or other brands, while retaining the HD sound quality.

yup same to you, i also prefer 7.1, it's bring new experience for the firs time i got this.

I got the original trilogy box set when it was on sale.. Just watched A New Hope! Holy crap it looked and sounded good! Too bad I couldn't crank up the volume - I live in an appartment! I haven't seen these movies since I saw them on DVD about 7 years ago with no surround.. You've probably discussed this in a thousand pages, but this is the first time I've seen the CGI crap that I remember.. It looked terrible but at least it was mostly in the first half.. None the less a great movie and looking forward to the next.

Got my copy of the original trilogy on bluray from the Panasonic promotion in the post today. As I already have the complete saga I'm giving them to my friend who's getting a bluray player for xmas...

Well, I think leaving this thread a sticky is fine. This is Star Wars. Discussion will go way beyond just three months. The moment this is taken off, someone will create a new thread without searching.

Why does it matter anyway?

They don't love to talk about it anymore though, do they? It sits here undisturbed for days at a time, and then people come in and go "hey just watched it again, it was nifty" since they still see it sitting here. This is the very definition of an "unsticky" topic.

I kinda argree, everything that was going to be said about this set has been said. Peeps who love to talk about it can just save it as a fav thread and visit it that way. That said, I can understand why its still here, it was the 'big fish' of wanted Blu Rays since the inception of the format. However, its time has passed. Maybe the Mods could sticky a smaller title that deserves some extra promotion/discussion (i.e. Drive or the US releases of Battle Royale)? But whatever, this thread was fun for a while.
