I was wondering how long it would take someone to correct me. I figured 4 minutes. I was wrong.

After eating Boba Fett no less, a death the fans have been groaning over for decades now, and retconned in comics and other literature.

I'd care except I was never attached to the character and probably never will be. Even Jango Fett gets more of an emotional reaction from me than his cloned "son". He also got a more honorable death, beheading from a Jedi Master instead of falling into a living death pit.

Bastard should have stayed dead! Graaaaaaaaaaah!! Sorry..... I still don't get the fanbase for him.

Thankfully none of the Expanded Universe is "Official Canon". Though from what I undersand the new Darth Plagueis novel has a note on it's inner flap that it's Officially Lucas Level Canon. Since he gave the writer all the info of Palaptine's past and training. I need to get that soon.

See. We found something we can agree on. I have never gotten the Fett Fanbase. It's always been very illogical to me.

He does nothing. And he dies like a punk to a blind man. He's a perfect example of style over substance. Yet people love him.

And have loved him from even before Empire Strikes Back came out. All cause of that Action Figure promotion.

Jango Fett on the other hand is extremely cool, actually does something in the films worth having a fanbase, and has a fleshed out character.

It may very well be, but was it written by Lucas?

I just simply don't have any interest in Clone Wars or other SW stuff these days. That's not a blanket dismissal. I just am not interested.

Huh? Boba Fett clearly advanced the story be tracking and ultimately capturing Han, allowing Vader to set the trap to get Luke to Bespin and reveal himself, causing the group to go after him at Jabba's palace, etc.

You're free to dislike the character (which we all know is part of your 'hate the popular parts, love the unpopular parts' of Star Wars thing), but your premise is flawed. He does plenty.

It's Vader and the Stormtroopers that capture Han & Friends. All Boba Fett does is tattle tale where they're headed. Nothing more.

So the point stands, he does pretty much nothing. He's about as responsible for their capture as someone who calls Unsolved Mysteries and leaves a tip.

The only reason he gets to take Han Solo afterwards... is because he's owed a reward for phoning in a tip. He's a plot device, not a character.

Actually, the true message of the film (with apologies to the Cheat Commandos) was: "Buy all our playsets and toys!"

That's been George's vision ever since pre-production of ROTJ began. It only became blatently obvious as a trend in hindsight upon the introduction of the SEs and PT.

That was just a subliminal message you got by eating popcorn out of an upside-down Storm Trooper helmet in-between slurps of Jawa Juice....

Yeah, cause Lucas has never waited years to release something on DVD or Blu-ray. Wait... he always does.

Just did AOTC after doing TPM last night. Im starting to feel that AOTC is a weaker film that TPM and potentially the weakest in the overall series. Its still solid and has some great stuff. Here goes.

Me LIKES:
- The Kamino clone stuff & Jango Fett
- Palpatines continured manipulation of all those around him
- The scenes with Anakins mother & her death
- Seeing Lukes future home for the first time

Me DISLIKES:
- The romance and dialog regarding the romance is dodgy
- Some of Anakins hissy fits are poorly written and acted
- The droid factory scene
- The first assisin chase goes too long and is absurd
- The pacing drags at times

Still good stuff and it advances the story. And, yet another black mark on Yodas record with Dooku/Tyrranus being a padawan of his and he goes bad. Everything Yoda gets involved in turns to poop. Poor little dude.

ROTS tomorrow night.....

Actually, I believe it was his vision from the very beginning with ANH. Didn't he request merchandising rights as a part of his deal to make his sequels? I remember toys for the first. And the second. And I remember owning and playing with them as well!
