Yeah, people were offended by that. That must be a widespread thing that actually happened.

I wasn't shocked or offended by Anakin.

I was bored by him.

Sadly, that's all too true. The prequels had some less than stellar moments, but so do the OT films (especially the musical number in "Jedi"). On the whole, I'd give all 6 films a collective score of 8.5/10, in terms of entertainment value.

All 6 are my all time favorite movies ever or one mega favorite movie ever.

Are they the best? Nope not really but man do I have a lot of fun watching them. Had funr when I was 9 in 1977 and had fun last month at 44 and will still have fun when I am 64.

He doesn't really do that at all. Have you ever written or read an essay? Same concept-- you make a claim and then offer examples to support it. Of course it's all still opinion, and he never says his information is irrefutable or cannot be argued (except when he is joking).

And his examples of the original trilogy are perfectly good counterpoints to his criticisms. The films don't have to be "flawless" to explain what is done right in those films compared to what doesn't work in the prequels.

Does anyone know if there are easter eggs on the disc? I searched around but came up with nothing.

I do not believe so! It's too bad those outtakes from the Prequel Trilogy weren't included. Those were hysterical.

From a certain point of view, you just described everyone in the entertainment industry.

I'm sure someone mentioned Easter Eggs before release (maybe they have a different definition of Easter Eggs?) but I haven't heard of any!

It proves that many, many films would not stand up to the heavy scrutiny. Yet Nolan is celebrated in many circles and Lucas damned. Will some of the members here change their minds? Probably not.

Lucas has the notion that his movies are these old-fashioned rollicking adventures and in many cases they are. But they shouldn't be beyond scrutiny and some parts of the prequels are just poorly executed.

There does need to be a certain suspension of disbelief with the Nolan's movies and The Jokers plan in TDK (haven't seen the new one yet) is about on par with the Emperor's in the prequels. One thing going for Palpatine's plan above The Jokers is he had the Dark Side and the Force to help him while the clown just had blind-bloody-luck.

Well that just proves that people can validly criticize films, but you don't always have to agree with him. Even if I totally disagreed with this guy's take on the film, I wouldn't be sitting here calling him a "hypocritical ass-clown" or whatever. There's plenty of people who don't like Nolan and think his films (especially The Dark Knight) are overrated. Not me, he's my current favorite director, but he still has those negative circles.

Me? I don't dislike the prequels because of plot holes (although I do think they have some very serious ones), but because I think the writing and acting is just piss poor on every fundamental level. But iff a movie manages to engage you, you can forgive holes and shortcomings in the story that people dig up.

That being said, I've only seen DKR once, and I'm not sure what I think about it yet. I didn't exactly hate The Phantom Menace the first time I saw it either, because it took a few viewings to really formulate my opinion on it.

OT (1977-1983)-Influenced heavily by classic sci-fi lit, mythology, works of Joseph Campbell, pushed special effects to heights never seen before, had simpilistic but compelling stories. PT (1999-2005)-Influenced heavily by blockbuster cinema that was created by the OT..especially blockbuster cinema of the 1990's, didn't really produce any jaw dropping effects (the first all digital character is really the only claim to fame and it was looked like a shoddy cartoon character), and the story was overly complicated and not compelling in the least.

Movie Anakin, yes. He just wasn't compelling in AotC or RotS. More whiny and looking for any reason to go to the Dark Side.

Clone Wars TV series Anakin is actually an interesting character, and I really like him as a character. He is more heroic, but has his faults (very overconfident and tends to break rules). Overall, I could easily see this Anakin becoming Darth Vader. Movie Anakin, not so much.

Yeah too bad we can't get remakes of the prequels now that Lucas, or whoever has finally figured out Anakin.

Yeah, that is a change I could get behind. Replace Hayden with the CG Anakin from Clone Wars

I love the Clone Wars series and agree 100%. We really get to see Anakin and Obi Wan as real friends with personality in that show that I think is oddly lacking in the prequels. Anakin especially comes off much more believable as the smart, talented Jedi Knight who eventually becomes Vader. The only problem is the end of that series won't mesh well going back to dopey-Anakin in Episode III.

Well I think Lucas has always been better at the producer level, as many have said. The Clone Wars tv series is like the original trilogy (particularly Empire) in that regard. When Lucas directly wrote and directed his prequel trilogy, IMO the characters are just stiff, cardboard, awkward, and lacking personality. But put those same characters in other writer's hands, and suddenly you've got actual interesting characters to invest in.

This is going to be blasphemy on my end, but I feel that this extends to Episode IV as well.
